Nexuiz is set in a galactic war fuelled for centuries by the Kavussari and Forsellians. Over time the two races entered into treaties with the Herald Accord, a union between different cultures in the galaxy. Even though peace settled across their planets, the seething hatred between the races kept the fire of war simmering under the fragile truce. Sensing their newest members could spread war throughout the galaxy; the Herald Accord gave the Kavussari and Forsellians a choice. Pit their warriors against each other in the arena rather than on the fields of war, or face total annihilation. The Nexuiz was formed, a series of battle arenas on the home planets of the Kavussari, Forsellian and the desolate planet of Atavirta.
Nexuiz launched as a PC and console game 10 years ago, but the downfall of THQ lead to problems for the inspirational title.
Remember Nexuiz, the arena first-person shooter pulled from Steam three years ago after publisher THQ went bust? It's back.
Developer IllFonic has self-published the game on Steam, where it costs £7.99 (it's £3.99 until 22nd March).
Didn't get around to playing it until after the community died. Great to see it back.
The aftershock of THQ's dissolution continues, as servers for the Xbox 360 version of Nexuiz have been shut down. Developer Illfonic announced the news on its Facebook page, noting that the servers were being run by THQ and "cannot be maintained anymore." The PC servers, however, will remain online courtesy of Illfonic itself.
That's a shame, I loved this game but guess I won't be able to complete the achievements now.
