Largest Ever Tokyo Game Show Detailed

The unveiling of the TGS 2007 line-up demonstrates that this year's show will be the biggest in the event's history.

Tokyo Game Show 2007, which will focus on connected networks, will boast a total of 168 exhibitors occupying 1,708 booths, surpassing the size of last year's record event.

While Nintendo appears to have opted not to make an appearance at the show, Sony and Microsoft will be in attendance, as will major publishers such as Sega, Capcom, Square Enix, Konami, Namco Bandai and Tecmo.

where did nintendo go??? oh well sucks for them

Marona6129d ago

Wait... Nintendo isn't going to appear on this TGS'07... again?

Did I miss something?

I'll go for Sony on this years TGS'07 anyways.

LaxMan9866129d ago

hopefully we will get more news on playstation eye and even more exclusive titles!!!

ItsDubC6129d ago

lol, why does that statement deserve a bubble? O, I know why...

BISHOP-BRASIL6129d ago

Sony will sure own the event. There is no competition without Nintendo in the event and with MS attention in Japan (maybe there is competition for the western view of the event)...

And besides that, Sony have a good lineup this holiday, with even more games to be announced, despite what fanboys spread the last holiday 'till last month. I'm satisfied with that lineup, don't really interest me who 'owns' the event.

MACHone6129d ago

Square Enix said we'd learn the next tid-bit of information about the next Kingdom Hearts title at the TGS this year! I can't wait!

ItsDubC6129d ago

I can understand Nintendo being a no-show at ComicCon but at TGS? Maybe this is their way of giving 3rd-party devs a chance to bask in the limelight, as Nintendo already made some huge announcements at E3.

LaxMan9866129d ago

to tell you the truth i wasnt impressed with nintendos presentation... a fittnes game!?!?!?!?!? though i am excited for Galaxy , metroid and the zapper..

ItsDubC6129d ago

I personally am not very interested in WiiFit but that doesn't mean the announcement wasn't big.

LaxMan9866129d ago

i agree with you there... when it come to nintendo im all for it. Nintendos just kind of like hey... we can do whatever the hell we want.
Im stilly a loyal sony fan though.

Former Dragon Age lead writer David Gaider pours scorn on EA's AI dreams.

"They want you to believe the devs under them are super stoked to work generative AI into their processes," continued Gaider, "but I assure you what they took as excitement was really a veiled wail of despair not unlike the time that team was informed of their new 'really cool' live service mandate.".

Publishers see gaming as another stock market.

Phil Spencer and the Battle for Xbox’s Soul

Has the rapid growth of Xbox made the ship too heavy? Following the closures of Tango Gameworks, Arkane Austin, and Roundhouse, we explore what the future of Xbox could look like.

LG_Fox_Brazil18h ago

This ship was never meant to sail, this ship was made from the get go to sink as fast as possible. It almost feels that they want to lower the standards of quality in the industry so that they can fit in

rlow131m ago

I disagree, Xbox from the get go innovated and changed the industry. They did a lot of firsts and standardized a lot of others. It wasn’t till the beginning of the Xbox1 era that things started to go south.

Hedstrom3h ago

Phil wants Xbox to be as soulless as him!

Tacoboto2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

Xbox has no soul and Phil has no confidence, and it's impossible to say either do when they killed Tango and Arkane Austin.

Everything they've said since has only made them look worse to a point that they're actually less competent than Embracer.

Markdn2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

Whe you release something like the series S and expect it not to hurt your business model, and developers have to have parity with games. Then you know Microsoft don't care. Series s is the final nail that broke developers,

Microsoft once tried to nab LittleBigPlanet from Sony after a few drinks

It turns out that many moons ago, Microsoft once had its eye on the Sony published LittleBigPlanet series.

Microsoft had a good idea but fumbled it again.

Cacabunga13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow1d 8h ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo18212h ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

Rynxie2h ago

And why do you think MLB said that? I believe Ms approached MLB.

ApocalypseShadow2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

Totally ridiculous comment.

The only exclusivity Sony had was to their own creation of The Show. Microsoft could have paid the MLB for the license just like Sony did and made their own baseball game.

Microsoft instead, groomed MLB for years in trying to poach Sony's game and bring it to Xbox. They're worth 3 TRILLION dollars. You think that's not enough money to make their own baseball game? Don't be delusional.

Microsoft spun it like they always do and told the media that they had to trust Sony with their hardware. After they put Sony in that position of not having a choice. Either go multiplatform or stop making one of their successful games. That's a no win scenario.

And what did Microsoft do? They didn't try to sell the game to the Xbox community. They put it on game pass to hurt Sony. Pushing the idea of why buy games that are $70 when you can play them in their cheap service for $10. It was a dirty tactic.

You fell for the Kool aid drink Microsoft served you instead of spitting it out. Hope it tasted good because you were fooled by Phil and the gang.

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

Tody_za15h ago(Edited 15h ago)

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno14h ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

Inverno12h ago

They shut down the servers, that's millions of user created levels gone. That and dead are pretty much the same, it's also been years since 3 and they cancelled HUB soooo.
