It is quickly becoming a welcome trend in video games that sequels are far surpassing the scope and design of their predecessors. Assassin’s Creed 2 brought together the problems the first had in it’s mission structure and story. Mass Effect 2 made grand improvements on the series’ linearity and combat. Crackdown 2 looks to improve on nearly every single aspect of the first, despite being from a different developer. Whereas the film industry (and granted, the past ten years of the games industry) suffers from a great deal of cynicism towards sequels due to the greediness of key “Hollywood” figures looking to cash in on success, resulting in inferior or downright lazy additions to a series, we are now being gifted with a number of ever expanding and ever improving franchises.
GF365: "Among all the well-received and beloved video games, there are some that are horrendous. Here are our picks for the worst big budget games released since 2010."
Anthem; I'd forgotten that game existed. I remember thinking the trailer was BS though; turns out I was right.
"Worst big budget games" and immediately lists Genshin Impact, a game that has $4 billion in revenue.
I havent played Genshin Impact and Mafia 3 was alright. The rest though I kind of agree with.
I loved the 1st Kane and Lynch and I could not understand how the 2nd game was as bad as it was.
James writes - "It may be old, it may be rather brutal and gritty, but seeing as Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days no longer costs a penny, shouldn’t you at least grab it and make the most of the Games With Gold scheme?"
Neil writes "This time last month I was waxing lyrical about how good it was to see the likes of Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed III, Dragon Age: Origins and a new game, SpeedRunners, be gifted to all Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners as part of the Xbox Games With Gold scheme for June 2017.
Now though we’re on the verge of being treated to even more free titles, but unfortunately the calibre of game given away with July’s Games With Gold scheme doesn’t quite match up to the month before it ."
Worst thing is the new game seems too similar to the last new game, need some variety!
It's not going to be top tier every month. They have been pretty good lately. The sine curve was bound to hit the bottom at some point.
I am glad to see that sequels for popular games are starting to be of better quality than their predecessors. I remember even 3 or 4 years ago when sequels were dreaded because they were never able to live up to the quality of the originals. Its a good thing that that trend has changed for the better and I can't wait to get my own hands on the demo when it is released to the general public.
Didn't bother with the first, but this looks sexy. Not actually sexy though, those old blokes have gained some weight and the vest is not working.
I did enjoy the first one (even with all of it's flaws) so I'll probably check this one out. I've heard good things so far about the demo.
THIS DEMO IS INCREDIBLE!
I love Eidos and IO Interactive they are so freaking amazingg
I'm a big fan of the first game and found it a riot to play with a friend in co-op so it was obvious I'd like the second one, I just didn't realise how much. I'm really excited for the launch of this!
