Wish List: PlayStation 2 Classics HD for the PlayStation 3

Mike Minotti writes: "The box art for The Sly Cooper Collection reveals a new "Classics HD" label. Looks like we can expect Sony to bundle and pretty up other PlayStation 2 games for the PlayStation 3. But some classics are more deserving of an HD makeover than others. My wish list includes: FFX&FF12,Xenosaga1,2&3 ,Ico&Shadow of Colossus,Dark Cloud1&2,Kingdom Hearts1&2,MetalGear1,2& ;3 All in HD and Widescreen format.

Thank God, someone who agrees with me on the Dark Cloud series! Those two games were incredible. I would definitely re-buy them if I had a backwards-compatible PS3.
Same with the .hack series.

Dude I hv voted fot Soccom 2 HD lets keep our fingers cross and hope for the game.The Multiplayer system is awsome at the ps2 days.It was on N4G It was approve by 7 guys only 3 more it wud hav shown thanks to those 360 fags who removed it.They feared tat once we (guys on N4G) no tat Zipper is remaking SOCCOM 2 HD it completely boost the sales on ps3 leaving 360 to dust.

FFX and dark cloud definitely, but FF X-2 was a bit to0, for lack of better term, "girly" for me, with all the giggling and clothes and an F'ing concert, yea amazing gameplay mechanics killed by too much stuff outside my element.

Ratchet and Clank trilogy: Dead Cert will happen. Should have Deadlocked because I want the whole Insomniac collection playable on my PS3 in HD and it was a good game.

I find it a bit funny how little time anyone has taken to consider what these disk-based rereleases mean. I thought Sony was going to put the PS2 library on PSN for download. What happened there? Is this a statement on the state of online sales and the health of the digital space, at least on consoles?

While the God of War Collection was a fine package, I did feel like the upgrades were a bit on the thin side. Sure, the game was in high def, but the lower definition cut scenes kind of ruined the experience for me. I am hopeful that the rest migh offer more of a significant upgrade, or at least that the experience will ALL be upgraded rather than the slap-dash job they did on the GoW Collection.

Either way this isn't an issue I would complain about. Sly, Ico + SotC and God of War all are great games that deserve more sales, so I guess I will take whatever Sony put out for now. I guess in the end I am just upset that the "remake" fad seems to have died. I was hoping more games would get the Tomb Raider Anniversary Edition-treatment. I am a big fan of Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, and would love if games like Eternal Darkness, Soul Reaver and Resident Evil 2 would get that treatment as well.

The only problem I have with sequels is when its the same ones over and over again. So many sick ass games from the past and all everyone wants to do is find the next big thing. Thousands of classics from the past remastered, remaked, whatever, just doing something other than Uncharted 10 and Halo 20. Give me Summoner 3, Orphan 2, Grandia XX, Go even farther back, where is my Battle of Olympus 2, Blaster Master 2 on the psn store. I could make a huge list of games we all could enjoy and forget about the whole console war altogether.
