PhilipLarkin5091d ago

LBP and Killzone 2 endings?! Yes, they're good, but nowhere near RDR's level!

GWAVE5091d ago

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I really don't seem to have the same Rockstar-colored glasses that the media wears while playing these games.

The media said the same thing about GTA4. "Best story ever". "Amazing characters". "On par with the Godfather movie series". Yet all I saw was almost-broken gameplay, same-old characters, and an interesting storyline.

RDR was a great game. No doubt. But it isn't this masterpiece of storytelling that the media is claiming. It's like they've never before played a video game with a great story. I guess years of playing nothing but online shooters will do that to you.

psman0125091d ago

RDR was amazing at the end. I cried, which is pathetic, and that is why it is soo good, because it got peoples emotions out.

midgard2275091d ago (Edited 5091d ago )

Legend of dragoon's ending is better!!!!, and duh MGS 3 snake eater

ThanatosDMC5091d ago

I say Yakuza 3. It leaves you angry and confused at WTF just happened then the credits roll. You get attached to the character then bam... he gets pwned in the most BS way and the credits start rolling! All this after you just kicked everybody's collective asses.

ReservoirDog3165090d ago

MGS3 is by far my best ending.

Uncharted 2 was good and all but nowhere near great. Loved it though (see bio).

MGS4 had a great ending (from the microwave scene on really, again, see bio). I especially loved the piece when someone says:

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

LittleBigPlanet was brilliant but nothing special in terms of endings.

Killzone 2 was good with a decent ending but nothing more. And I finished it on elite by the way.

But like I said before, RDR has stuck with me so that I think about it at least once a day. At least.

WildArmed5090d ago

MGS always had an epic end and an epic journey.
The ending for RDR was great :D
Loved it.

One of the best ones this year.

I really loved RDR Single Player campaign.
Probably one of my all time favs.
(Ofc, MGS campaigns rock my socks and have a safe spot @ no. 1)

Uncharted 2 was a great experience, but not as a strong ending.
Dont get me wrong, love the game.. alot.
Still play it online every now and then.
My runner-up GoTY 09 (Demons Souls = Goty xD )

rockleex5090d ago (Edited 5090d ago )

But 75% of the singeplayer campaign was filled with pointless annoying satirical characters and pointless missions that have nothing to do with the main story and characters.

They were adding a pointless GTA flavor to the game. I want my Red Dead to taste like Red Dead, NOT Grand Theft. I don't want my ice cream to taste like chicken.

Great game, but flawed campaign simply because the directors thought the game's original themes and settings couldn't hold its own.

Marquis_de_Sade5090d ago

A clunky and unresponsive beat em up scene is the best ending ever?

WildArmed5090d ago (Edited 5090d ago )

Yeah, definitely.
The retrospect of Solid Snakes and Ocelot's life in one single fight was amazing.

I still can't believe how awesome the end was :D
MGS always has a message greater than life.. it's amazing.

TY KOJI~

xYLeinen5091d ago

Gotta agree with Deathracer. While their endings are quite good they are nothing special compared to RDR ending.

JsonHenry5091d ago

couldn't force myself to keep playing RDR to get to the ending.

kneon5091d ago

I did, it was a slog getting through the last half of the game only to get to the first ending and being pissed at how stupidly it was handled.

Shadowstar5091d ago (Edited 5091d ago )

I love MGS games. I think the stories tend to be really powerful. MGS scenes are more powerful than RDR scenes, absolutely. The problem with their endings, though, is that they drag on too far after the climax of the story. Shooting the Boss was far harder for me to do emotionally than the duel which just felt like a technical challenge.... but that's not quite the ending, is it. The microwave tunnel was brilliant, and fighting Ocelot was awesome and nostalgic and beautiful... but then they make you watch Meryl's wedding, which, you know, ugh.

RDR didn't have those problems, so... yeah, maybe it wins.

rockleex5090d ago

WAY before you can even start to worry about the ending.

saint_john_paul_ii5091d ago (Edited 5091d ago )

MGS series had the best endings, with MGS 3 edging out MGS4.

Dont believe me? play it. you cant deny perfection.

It was a pretty decent ending.

GhostOfSparta785091d ago

Omar915091d ago

GOTY 2010

EDIT: I could give two shits about GT5. Sorry but no racing game is going to win GOTY, just not going to happen.

I just want 4k/1440p and 60fps support. And with little glitches too ofc.

Snookies1223d ago (Edited 23d ago )

This is about the PC version of RDR 1. The PC version of RDR 2 doesn't have a frame rate cap. Though I do agree, it is mind boggling that Rockstar still hasn't released a patch for consoles.

XiNatsuDragnel24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

It'll be great if true

LucasRuinedChildhood24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

Hopefully 60fps on consoles for RDR2 is next then.

LucasRuinedChildhood24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

Honestly, a PS5 Pro isn't even needed for 60fps in this case. But if they wanted to use it show a game running maxed out at a high resolution at 60fps, I wouldn't complain. Just give us 60fps. lol

I think the Series X might have an issue running the One X version at a locked 60fps as that version was a full native 4K but they could just lower the resolution a bit.

purple10124d ago (Edited 24d ago )

I wish to play both stellar blade, and rdr2, on the pro, maxed out like an expensive pc,

would be good, especially for the price, even if thats £499/ £549

last I checked, a rtx 4070super was £580 for just the card!

DaReapa24d ago

There aren't many games I'd double dip for, but having originally gotten this for PS3, I would happily get this if true.

You left out The Darkness games bring those back

fan_of_gaming56d ago

The head of Nightdive Studios has posted that The Darkness is on their list of games they want to do, so hopefully something comes from that

Yi-Long56d ago

Little Big Planet 1 and 2 deserve a mention, IMO.

Good call on Motorstorm, a game released 2 gens ago but still looks and feels so good. Motorstorm 2 and Motorstorm RC were gems as well. They followed up the Motorstorm games with the brilliant Driveclub, which still manages to put modern racing games to shame. Imagine closing down a studio as talented as that ... (!) Incredible.

A little 'arcade-gem' back then was The Last Guy, a top down 'follow the leader' snake-like game where you had to find and lead survivors to safety during an alien invasion, on terrible looking 'Google-earth' maps. Graphics were poor, even back then, but would love that same gameplay with modern maps and graphics.

Street Fighter 4, once it finally had a full roster, was quite good, but it was always an ugly game, sadly. Imagine bringing that back while using the current SF6 engine.

fan_of_gaming56d ago

Good suggestions, I'd be in for
LittleBigPlanet
LittleBigPlanet 2
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
Motorstorm: RC

purple10156d ago

God damn I love motorstorm so much

At the time I had a low-mid range sony 40” tv, The latency to the controller was waaaay too high, would to play a modern version

In saying that later I got a 3d lg tv and playing the 3d motorstorm in my bedroom with the environment crumbling around the track, was something special, specially compared to what others were playing at the time, will always remember that

Skuletor56d ago

Some good choices here and Resistance: Fall of Man is my most wanted PS3 remaster/remake. Not sure about their claim it was Sony's answer to Gears of War though.

CrimsonWing6956d ago

I’d rather have sequels than remakes. Look at Dead Space 1 Remake. Would’ve been cooler if we got a new entry and it failed with sales sealing the fate of a sequel rather than just replay the same game and it fail in sales and we never get a new entry.

Remakes are great for things like PS2 and earlier games to really get a crazy new graphical coat, but I think we should ease up on all these remakes and actually do sequels.

fan_of_gaming56d ago

Yeah for sure, sequels would be ideal. But in the current market environment where many big publishers are risk-averse, I'd rather get a remaster or remake that a developer can do on a budget that will be approved, rather than nothing for an IP.

Inverno56d ago

I rather they remaster and port over to PC and current gen all the games permanently stuck on PS360. Those games don't need remakes, they need to be given a chance to live again outside of their confined consoles and then give a few proper sequels. Like Sleeping Dogs, Motor Storm, LA Noir, should get another entry.

fan_of_gaming56d ago

Yeah I'd be fine with remasters of PS3 games too, they don't have to be remakes.
