Quantum Theory Multiplayer Detailed

1up: Quantum Theory's release date has shifted down ever so slightly -- originally slated for a summer release, the Japan-made FPS is now officially hitting the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September over in its home country. Development is still churning along, though, and Tecmo Koei released the first details behind the game's multiplayer support in this week's spate of Japanese gaming magazines.

Is it going to be 5v5 and laggy?

Kingdom Come5060d ago

As long as you had skills, Gears of War 2 was fantastic from release, please, stop using the lag card, man up, if you can't play the game, move on.

Pennywise5060d ago

Just accept the lag... yeah good idea. That is how to push devs to fix their major problems. Just accept it.

@Kingdom Come

Denial much?

Kingdom Come5060d ago (Edited 5060d ago )

Actually I genuanly thought so. We've had this discussion before...

@ Sikbeta
Notice how the video was from November 2008, there has been a number of updates since then and games with that much lag were rare to stumble upon...

Ryudo5060d ago (Edited 5060d ago )

You mean like the lag that ruined KZ2's multilayer from the start?

I wait don't see you just jumping to except that because we all know how popular KillZone 2 is nowa days.

sikbeta5060d ago

You can't just accept Lag, but anyway, The Worst thing is this, Idk WTH is, but It must be the Most annoying thing in MP

O-T

Pffft, Tecmo, you're not even trying...

saint_john_paul_ii5060d ago

really? I must be living in another dimension....

KZ2 never had any lag. i will give you the benefit of the doubt though if you said that the multiplayer was so chaotic, that the game started to frame skip.

but lag? you fail.

mastiffchild5060d ago

Come on boys! You can't compare the lag in Gears2 with that in KZ2-they're worlds apart. The reason I stopped playing KZ2 MP was because the game lost a ton of identity when they foolishly gave in to the COD babies who wouldn't learn anything new and offered a game diluting patch for twitchy controls which made the game like everything else out there.

For the record I'm a massive Gears fan but defending it's original on line performance is akin to blindness ion my book. If EVER a game needed dedicated servers to up the numbers and kill some pretty bloody awful lag/host issues then it was Epic's second effort in this series and we all know it. The only "lag" issue I ever heard about with KZ2 was the controller input one and even then I saw very conflicting reports and, personally, felt the beta controls were perfect FOR THAT GAME. KZ2's main issue was a bunch of players killing time between COD releases that weren't prepared to think anyone could make a game that didn't revolve around their personal twitch shooter tastes. By bowing to these people GG actually killed the community that had existed since the beta as the people they tried to appease with THAT patch were ALWAYS going to be off when the next COD landed anyway-it was, imho, a stupid move and one which badly hurt their game on line.

@Kingdom Come-"man up"? Seriously, it was a badly , badly affected game at release(Gears2)and has never been properly fixed to the level a game of it's size should have been. Skill had nothing to do with it and shouldn't be relied upon to save a devs bacon when they get things wromng or are too cheap to offer us a modern, less laggy solution. Same goes for the joke that is MW2 on line. Why on Earth is the leading cross platform shooter in 2009/10 still using P2P? It isn't lik the don't make enough money, now is it? Anyone would think these big devs couldn't care less how their flagship titles perform on line wouldn't you?

This shouldn't be a fanboy issue at all. We should all be united in asking for some REASONABLE treatment. FFS if WARHAWK can have virtually lag free dedicated servers there's little reason for games the size of Gears or COD not to, is there? Do you really think we should grin and bear it when there's an obvious and not cripplingly expensive fix being used by games with way smaller profits and budgets readily available?

On the othetr hand, if you truly believe that Gears2 wouldn't be improved by dedicated servers there's little point in debating it, is there? IMHO, most on line games would improve with a move away from the hit and miss world of P2P, be that on PC(where taking away MW2's was a disgrace we should ALL have complained about no matter what we game on), Live, WiiConnect or PSN.

You kinda owned yourself. If you read the comments of your supplied video you will see that the person that posted the video says clearly that this was the ONLY time that lag happened to him that night! I have had lag in just about EVERY online game that I've played. The question is...does it happen EVERY game or just once in a 3 or 4 hour gaming session!?!? I'm not fanboy raging right now. I am just pointed out that if you look hard enough on youtube for "proof", you can probably find it.

Every battle royale and soulslike. Every cartoony live service game with dancing

Nah most of the Soulslike games turned out pretty good. Probably the only one I didn't much like was Immortal Unchained.

I don't care what this guy think after he called Way of The Samurai 3 an awful game.

Bigpappy3839d ago

with Quantum Theory, I played the demo and was not impressed. I felt like they were trying to mix Gear of War with Lost Planet, and didn't do either very well. May be someone who never played either would have a blast with it though.

fOrlOnhOpe573839d ago

Yeah, I played the demo too but couldn't finish it....the thought of therapy was too much lol

SyphonELITE3839d ago

damn, i never even heard of this game til now

Yui_Suzumiya3839d ago

I followed this game forever until I finally came out. I got it and loved every bit of it. Originally supposed to be a PS3 exclusive. It got horrible reviews and I didn't understand any of them. They must've been playing a different game then me!

Spore_7773838d ago

Never played it, never will -_-
