Top 5 most underrated games so far this year

Let's have no argument about this one. PLAY has used a very fair, balanced, scientific system to choose the top 5. Honestly it has. But if you still want to argue… go on then…

#1 should be MAG. Not even on the list? Blah blah blah.

TheFaggot_5053d ago

LOL MAG.
Are you being serious? This game was filled with lots of bugs, crappy graphics, and LAGS.

SuperMassiveGav5053d ago

Plus it sold better than all of the games in this Top 5 and didn't fare that badly in reviews either.

eraursls845053d ago

Lags? I noticed very little lag in the 155 hours I spent on mag, less than any other online game i've played. It has a few bugs but no more than other games. Graphics could be better but what do you expect with 256 players at COD has crap graphics w/ 18 players

Newtype5053d ago

Have only played it for an hour. MAG is a good game.

Spenok5053d ago

Lol OSU_Gamer....how much did you actully play Mag? Honestly now. 1hour? 5? maybe 10? If you actually put some decent time into the game you just might find it enjoyable. Seeing as how its an online only shooter, it requires more time to get into it. You cant just play it for 1 hour and say it sucks. You have to unlock more weapons, abilities, game modes, and command positions. If you play with people with headsets who care/know what there doing, this game can be like no other on the market.

midgard2275053d ago

the 360 fanboys are stuck playing frontlines. lol

tho they mostly just play that old MW2 game where there is zero cooperation in team, and they act as if a game isnt COD it sux

OSU_Gamer5053d ago (Edited 5053d ago )

I would just love to see you guys saying the same thing if MAG was for the 360.

You are right Spenok I didn't play 100 hours. But I shouldn't have to to work at liking a game as much as you guys say I have to. 10 hours?!?! I have to play 10 hours to finally get enjoyment. There are plenty of other games that will be a lot more enjoyable in less than 5 or 10 hours.

@ midgard

I'm not going to defend MW2 because I don't play it anymore, but to say that there is zero cooperation is just ignorant. A pub game of team death-match may not have the most team cooperation, but what about any other non pub objective based game types. Those thousands and thousands of clans use zero team cooperation when playing?

callahan095053d ago (Edited 5053d ago )

Uh, no. What bugs did MAG have? There was like, one minor bug that effected a very small minority of players where you couldn't respawn. There was another couple of little bugs where you couldn't revive players who died in the water, and you could die by walking into a stationary vehicle. These bugs were fixed like within 2 weeks of the game's release. What game didn't have online bugs when it came out? So many games get free passes for their connection issues and bugs, but MAG got nitpicked over its comparatively minor ones, and Zipper did a great job of improving the game with patches since it came out. The game has improved significantly since it came out. Bugs have been fixed, the already smooth connections have actually improved even more, I absolutely never have any lag in this game... The graphics aren't bad either. They're pretty impressive given the sheer size and scale of the battles. Tons of players on screen at once, huge levels. The graphics and animations have also been improved in software updates since the game came out. They release tons of improvements with every single patch. The game modes, maps, weapons, factions, etc. have been constantly modified to ensure fair balance. Frankly, Lirankn, your criticisms are false.

Elven65053d ago

Stop hating, both MAG and Frontlines: Fuel of War are great multiplayer experiences!

nnotdead5053d ago

bubbles to all MAG supporters, and only disagrees to the haters. no need to take bubbles away for difference of opinions. hope others would realize this.

IaMs125052d ago

Who cares about MAG lets talk about the games ON topic.
I agree Metro 2033 is actually pretty good. I love the atmosphere. The gameplay is a little dry buts its good enough to not keep you playing and the story is pretty interesting too keep you going on. Worth brand new? No probably not. but worth a run through? Definitely

kingdavid5052d ago

Ive played MAG for more than an hour and still hated it.

Battlefield is superior in almost every way apart from having less players (but 256 is overkill anyway).

Well, not many PS3 owners bought MAG, maybe 25% of CoD? People defend it because the game is good, not becuase its some kind of champion for the PS3. Of course you may not get it - but then I sold CoD MW2 in 2 days, found it awful. its a matter of taste. If you like SOCOM kind of tactical shooters, great game.

SuperMassiveGav5053d ago

MAG sold 25% of what MW2 sold in its wildest dreams. More like 10% mate. And that's just on PS3.

CellularAutomata5053d ago

Mag isn't underrated. Its overrated.

callahan095053d ago

I wish I could use italics for this: Really!?

Over-rated? The game it sitting in the mid-70's on Metacritic. In what way was it over-rated? For me it is the very definition of under-rated. I mean, ratings all come down to opinion anyway, and my opinion is that MAG is the most fun and greatest multiplayer shooter I've ever played, and the reviews don't come even remotely close to reflecting the fact that some gamers could feel that way about it. The reviews complained that it feels like an "average" game? Nothing about it is average, if you objectively compare its features and the way it plays to the other shooters on the market. It doesn't play like those games and that's probably why a lot of reviews didn't rate it very highly, but the criticism that it's "generic" or "average" is frankly false.

You may not have thought it was under-rated the way I think it is, but how could you even try to argue that it's over-rated? So many people that have bought have come out and said that it's their shooter addiction, that they can't even think about going back to smaller-scale shooters now. If the consumers who really spent their money on this game and put the time into playing it and enjoying all think it's great, then how could it's decidedly average reviews even be considered over-rating it?

midgard2275053d ago

im playing resonance of fate, and i actually really really like it.

i thought it was gonna be repetitive but its not. and i dont see how its hard unless u dont level correctly. and no im not talkin about grinding either. u can level fast if u switch weapons alot.

gameplay is really fun, tho i guess if ur wrecklace a boss fight cud be tough

wicko5053d ago

Yeah I am a fan of it as well, on chapter 12 currently.

This was a pretty good list although I don't really agree with Alpha Protocol.

nnotdead5053d ago

just recived the game from Gamefly. as sson as am done with FFXIII i'll switch over to Resonance of Fate. hope i enjoy it as much as am liking FFXIII. hope i don't find it difficult going from one jrpg straight into another.

VladimirK5053d ago

I do think Metro 2033 is a bit underrated, good to see it getting mentioned.
(I am of course biased since I loved the game).

Inside_out5053d ago (Edited 5053d ago )

Metro 2033 made me a believer. It was not only good but awesome. It's sad to see a game like that get over looked. The problem is there are to many games to choose from and they are expensive. They have to have some sort of multi-player component or at least co-op to make the purchase worth while...even then, who can keep up.

If you own a 360, give it a at least a rental. It will be well worth it. So many game play elements...stealth missions, on rail sections, defend situations, all out gun battles and many creepy scavenging...Very scary. Will make a nice budget buy.

Haven't had a chance to play MAG yet...definitely a love/hate thing with that game.

nnotdead5053d ago (Edited 5053d ago )

wanted to pick this up on Steam, but when it went on sale i was short on cash, so i may wait for next sale. Or maybe i will just pick up the THQ pack. its the same price as Metro by itself.

@Cez-
MAG is a great game, but it does take some time to get into. once you reach lvl 15 you should have a pretty nice build to be competitive in the game, and that only takes 3 hours or so to reach. first find a clan to play with. also, if you can only play in non-peak hours, it can take a lot of sitting around before you get into one of the bigger. of course right now the DLC just came out, so the game has been packed as of late.

BillOreilly5053d ago

resonance of fate was amazingly addictive and alpha protocol is great im near the end and loving it still gonna get metro 2033 too human was also great but didnt get props it deserved dont listen to the reviews try alpha protocol i didnt like it at first but after the first few missions it opens up you start to level and it gets so interesting and fun

Acquiescence5053d ago

Came out this year for UK gamers. One of the most perfectly paced games I've had the pleasure of playing.

SheenuTheLegend66d ago

all the games in the above list are bang on. this is the only reason we need backwards compatibility and physical presense of games for the upcoming future, no matter what.

Yi-Long66d ago

Honorable mention to the excellent Driveclub, one of the best racing games of all-time and one of my favourite games ever.

melons66d ago

yes! incredible rain effects; so good to drive along in rain with your Spotify playlist blaring

Skuletor66d ago

I really wanted a MotorStorm using the same engine, Driveclub is easily one of the best looking games on PS4 and I'm surprised they didn't even give it a PS4 Pro patch.

ravens5266d ago

Yes indeed. May just install it on my PS5. You know, physical copy and all.

monkey60266d ago

I adored Driveclub and the Bike expansion. I also loved Motorstorm. Evolution shutting down was a crime

Skuletor66d ago

I have quite a few of these. Timed licenses suck.

Terry_B66d ago (Edited 66d ago )

wow...I have all of them except the Nintendo ones either in physical or digital version.

Also..Deadpool the Game is missing on that list.

Kevin F. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "Many of the best Xbox 360 games are playable on the Xbox One and Series X|S consoles. Some even with some enhanced visuals and performance. Unfortunately, not every game from the Xbox 360 library has received this glorious feat of being able to be played on more modern Microsoft consoles."

Max Payne 3 needs to be on that list.

The Spider-man games will never happen. The xbox 360 Marvel Ultimate Alliance games have a better chance of happening than Spider-man titles but won't happen. The Xbox One Ultimate Alliance games delisted years ago

Vits1035d ago

Yeah... you can totally forget about those entries that got delisted because of licensing issues. Those are not happening.

MetalProxy1034d ago

Wait everything isn’t BC? You guys act like it is lol

porkChop1034d ago

Almost all of the games people want to play are BC, and that's a hell of a lot better than having none available.

ApocalypseShadow1034d ago (Edited 1034d ago )

Almost all the games people want to play? Not true. Majority picks screw over the minority who have games collecting dust. Metal is right. Fans make it seem that it's all. 39/997 games from OG Xbox is NOT all. 568/2154 from 360 is NOT all. But you guys play it up like it is.

And from my count, there are 4,000+ PS4 BC games on PS5 that I see. And almost every VR game. Series X has no Kinect games or Kinect 2. But you played that up too. No more dancing.

As for the article, some of the BC games make sense. The others with Spider-Man aren't happening.
