Oh god...The Sims isn't a game.

Just because Pac-Man came out a long time ago doesn't mean it's good, it means it's old.

Vice City was better than San Andreas, neither of which are top 10 though.

Modern Warfare 2...lol

Halo...lol again

Ocarina of Time...okay maybe, you got 1 so far.

Final Fantasy 7, ugh. Yeah most people would agree, but again, just because you have fond memories for it and it "helped you through your awkward early teens because you fell in love with Aeris and Cloud was your best friend" or whatever pathetic story most people have involving this game, doesn't make it that great of an actual GAME.

Pokemon...what are you, a 5 year old girl? Jesus.

Tetris: Refer to Pac-Man comment

Super Mario 64, hated it. I never got Mario. Who the hell wants to play as an Italian plumber in a game that has nothing to do with Italy or plumbing. They should make the next Mario game about cleaning the shit out of the Venice canals. Seriously though, lots of people like it, just not my cup of tea.

deanobi5052d ago

what would be your top 10 then?

HenryFord5052d ago

...with the basic stuff:
1. Half-Life (Series)
There ist just no way around that.
2. Portal
Another No-Brainer for me
3. GTA3
It is way more revolutionary then the successors
4. Splinter Cell (Series)
Yeah, that would be my opinion - most people will disagree.
5. Counter-Strike (Series)
6. Battlefield (Series)
7. Call of Duty (Series - excluding: 3 and MW2)
MW2 is a bloody punch in the face.
8. M(ario) K(art) 64
Yeah, you have to give me that one. I played it soooooooooo often, it has to come up here (even though the game itself might be crap)
9. Mirros Edge
Even though it was by no means perfect, the idea and the style is just so fucking awesome! I love this game.
10. Medal of Honor (Series)

nix5052d ago (Edited 5052d ago )

wow.. top ten greatest is really hard thing to summerise. i guess there's one in every genre which revolutionised the industry. q:

Serg5052d ago

I stuck to one game per genre, and really these are probably not the best games ever as far as public opinion goes, but these 10 games have consumed so much time of my life that they deserve a spot.

In no particular order, the numbers don't indicate rating:

1. Quake 3 Arena (FPS)
2. Tekken 3 (Beat 'em up)
3. Gran Turismo 2 (Racing)
4. Grand Theft Auto 3 (Sandbox)
5. Shadow of the Colossus (Action Adventure)
6. God of War 2 (Hack and Slash)
7. Secret of Mana (RPG)
8. Total Annihilation (RTS)
9. Transport Tycoon (Tycoon)
10. Super Mario 64 (Jump 'n' run)

God that was hard, not so much finding the games, but which ones to put there.

NecrumSlavery5052d ago (Edited 5052d ago )

10. Super Smash Bros Melee (Best in the series)
9. Luigi's Mansion (Most underrated treasure)
8. Flower (just because it is the most unique experience)
7. Bioshock (Steampunk drew me into this FP exploration)
6. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Better than Ocarina)
5. Metal Gear Solid (Well the series as a whole)
4. Kingdom Hearts (Disney + Final Fantasy = bliss)
3. Fallout 3 (The futuristic post apocalyptic 40s retro theme just blew me away)
2. Chrono Trigger (My favorite RPG after all these years)
1. Oddworld Abe's Oddysee & Exoddus (Oddworld still is my favorite game, I count the first two as one since they are one completely fluid story.)

ReservoirDog3165052d ago

This would be an acceptable list if you switched mw2 for CoD4. Besides it being obviously better, it was more groundbreaking at the time whereas mw2 just rode that success for better or worse.

bacano5052d ago

It's your opinion... BTW Do you like videogames??

deanobi5052d ago

I was going to ask the same thing.
World of Warcraft was incidentally just outside.

I think theres a false perception that we dont rate new games such as halo within the greatest games ever made because of their age. I reckon in a decades time people will be raving about halo being in their top 10.

Mista T5052d ago (Edited 5052d ago )

WHAT THE HELL IS MW2 DOING ON THIS LIST

frustration must be expressed in caps at times folks, and this is one instance

this is one of the worst lists I've ever seen, this is my list

10.Gran Turismo
9. Gran Theft Auto San Andreas
8. Goldeneye 007
7. Counter Strike
6. Super Mario Bros.
5. Half Life 2
4. Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots
3. Doom
2. Final Fantasy VII
1. Half Life

halojunkie5052d ago

DEMONS SOULS. NUFF FKN SAID.

NastyLeftHook5052d ago

AGREED. dem0ns souls pawns any game on this list.

Donny5052d ago

uncharted 2, demons souls.

RatFuker5052d ago

start the revolution.

DEMONS SOULS FTW!!!!

STONEY45052d ago

Imo, any top 10 that places Halo above Deus Ex (which isn't even there, wtf) fails.

ian725052d ago

I don't really know what my top 10 all time games would be, but the only one on this list I would have in mine would be GTA San Andreas, the rest I'm not too bothered about.
I did spend many hours playing San Andreas, and it was all fun. The only other game I can think of which I liked playing as much if not more was Deus Ex. I would definately have those two in my top ten.

bacano5052d ago

You' re rather young, right? Just like @HenryFord

HenryFord5052d ago

What is young in your opinion?
I played a lot of classical games, but I'm just a FPS-Guy...

mrcash5052d ago

I loved san andreas, but my number 1 has to be Super mario3 I still play it to this day.

STONEY45052d ago (Edited 5052d ago )

"Let me guess...
You' re rather young, right? Just like @HenryFord"

You must be young if you're calling him that when he has Deus Ex in there, which is over 10 years old, and considered by the people who played it to be one of the, if not the best game of all time. And reading your comment below, you agree with the list and want Gears of War 2 in there. You're probably younger than him.

bacano5052d ago

Finally I see a list I (almost) absolutely agree. I suppose that PS3 users would like to see UC2 in it, as much as I'd have included Gears of War 2. But, honestly, if we try to collect games "which change(d) the industry as we know it" when released, I think puncafish guys are right.

WrAiTh Sp3cTr35052d ago

Yeah, most of my games would probably come from the Nintendo era, but Gears impressed me so it shot up to the top of my list. It laid the ground work for what this gen would be like.

BeaArthur5052d ago

I'm confused as to how Super Mario 64 got on there since it is regarded by many to be one of the worst Mario's. Either way the list is pretty decent. These lists are always irrelevant because you can't really compare an RPG to a shooter and say one is necessarily that much better than the other because they are too different.

Myze5052d ago

Eh, what? Where in the world did you get that SM64 is considered one of the worst? In my opinion, for Mario games, the top three are Super Mario Brothers 3, Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy 2. However, there are quite a few that would be really close and better than a lot of the games on this list (Super Mario World 1 and 2, first Galaxy and of course the first Super Mario Bros.).

My list would vary a lot from this one. While I don't agree with the list (especially MW2...wtf?), I respect that everyone has different opinions in games, and so a list like this is rarely in 100% agreement with me.

Here's my list (if they are close in order, would probably go either way):

10. Half-Life 2 (only FPS I could stomach putting in my top 10)
9. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
8. Secret of Mana
7. Uncharted 2
6. Final Fantasy Tactics
5. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
4. Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross (liked about equal, for different reasons)
3. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
2. Final Fantasy 6
1. Xenogears

As you can see, I love a lot of the older JRPGs, and could easily put a lot of other ones on the list (FF4, FF7-10, Dark Cloud 2, Shining Force 1-2, Grandia, Star Ocean 2nd Story, Suikoden 1-2, Persona 1-4 (and other SMT games), etc.). Lot of good WRPGs I would have in a top 50-100 as well (Baulder's Gate 1-2, Planescape: Torment, Knights of the Old Republic 1, Mass Effect 1-2, Dragon Age, etc.).

Original Final Fantasy 7 - Is it Worth Playing in 2024?

Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?

ravens5218d ago

Got to Zacks part in 7 Rebirth. Said f it. Finishing my game in 7 og. Just got to part 2 yesterday. I also got Crisis Core... So it'll be a while before I'm back to Rebirth. I just keep thinking about it too smh, want to get back to playing it. Not till I know Zacks story though. I beat 7 og sooooooo long ago, it's crazy going through it again and remembering things.

MrNinosan18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Got to Zacks part in Rebirth?
You mean you started the game and turned it off?
The game starts with Zack...

ravens5218d ago

... Really 🤓 lol. His second part, I've played for 80hrs lmao. <---- PS5 Run time, probably not all game time. You guys know how it goes.

VIK212118d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Did you not ever play the OG FF7? After you recruit Vincent, later in the game, disc 3, return to that basement and look at the pod, there's a whole Zack story that'll trigger as a memory.... it's well hidden in the game and a lot of things regarding Zack are cleared up. FF7 Crisis Core is basically an extend feature of that hidden flashback... It took me years to discover it back then lol

MrNinosan18d ago

@ravens52
80 hours in Rebirth by doing everything, and you should've reached Zacks story about 5 times 🤣

ravens5217d ago

Ye I kno that's y I said not all gameplay time. But also I am very anal when it comes to exploring.

ravens5217d ago

Not to mention fighting Titan at his full strength. Hours spent trying still haven't succeeded. Found all 3 ruins but I'ma masochist when it comes to games.

Barlos18d ago

Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

Barlos18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

It always takes me back to Christmas 1997, I got it as a gift and I was blown away when I played it. I couldn't believe games could look that good. The combination of pre rendered backgrounds and FMV really made it stand out. It definitely still has a certain charm that modern games can't replicate.

I can't imagine people will still be talking about Remake and Rebirth in 27 years.

Tapani17d ago

Fully agreed. To me the atmosphere, pacing, gameplay and music are all better than in the remake.

Rebel_Scum18d ago

Yes, play this, skip remake, start rebirth for new players.

I_am_Batman18d ago

Skip Remake? That's terrible advice.

leahcim18d ago

Remake is so amazing, pure FFVII Love, play it on PS5 please! aww the graphics the battles, the music... a dream come true.

Rebel_Scum18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

I disagree Batman

Rise of the ronin sold twice as much as Dragons Dogma 2 this week...but no articles about that. It's only news if a PS exclusive is being outsold.
