rockleex5071d ago (Edited 5071d ago )

But it will be hacked in two years, creating the events that lead to 2012!!!

The Mayans were right all along! @_@

Thanks Geohot. First you get our Other OS removed, and now you're going to get our civilization removed! All it takes is one simple update from Sony headquarters! >_<

2012 doesn't start till Sony says so. :P

lmfao + bubs for the laughs

sikbeta5071d ago

lol guys, totally true...

This guy, before being "teh hacherz", is an attention Wh0re more than anything, seems like he only want to demonstrate something... but when it comes to the PS3, he Fails and then whine...

djfullshred5071d ago (Edited 5071d ago )

haha, my thoughts exactly...attention wh0re trying to milk his 15 minutes of fame for all it's worth. If the guy actually had talent, he would be making something useful that people would buy, and getting rich off of it.

gamerzBEreal175070d ago (Edited 5070d ago )

yea i hate this guy so much why is he even trying to hack the ps3? from the looks of it nobody wants it...

dangert125071d ago

this guy is such a wasteman i swear sony need to personally handle with this guy before he ruins it for us all last time it was a small portition but hey people paid for that feature

HolyOrangeCows5071d ago (Edited 5071d ago )

*SNORT* I'd rather buy a Ps3 to use homebrew.

Silly dork, Ps3s are for games.

FACTUAL evidence5071d ago

Guess he'll successfully hack the ps3 in July 33rd.

PeterGriffinSays5071d ago

GeoHot is a smart dude regardless.

Crazyglues5071d ago (Edited 5071d ago )

I have no idea what he is talking about with all this hypertension and stuff, but here is a Question???

When you crack something, don't you then run a demo showing the crack working so people can actually believe what you say you can do you have actually done....? (or is that so old school these days)

Now don't get me wrong, I don't want the PS3 cracked, Why? Why not, you ask? -Because yes games cost money and it's a pain in the neck but there is a little joy in actually buying a game you support.

These game companies can't stay in business if we bit the hand that feeds us, I want amazing games, I don't want the 60 to 100 million dollar budgets cut -that companies use to make games-

because that's how we get great games, if they think they can't make the money back they will start making games that are crap for far less money- and instead of epic, we will get cheesy and stupid games.

Every time I play Bad Company 2 I say wow we have come a long way in graphics, the multi-player is so awesome, sure the lag sucks right now but man what a cool game, the onslaught is Awesome..(I'm loving that right now)

What about GT5, or God of War III, I need these games this is why I bought a PS3, so yes I'm sorry but I don't want my PS3 cracked. Maybe I'm alone on that theory but didn't we all dream of being a game designer one day...

How would you like someone saying -oh your check for making games which was going to be $400,000 thousand for the year is now $8,000 because of privacy (I would quit and go do something else to feed my family)

I don't want the guys making Crysis 2 to Quit, or God Of War IV or the Last Guardian or any of these epic games coming to my PS3...

We live for games, and we have to support them, it's how we get epic games -and as a gamer these good times are too Amazing to mess up.. Don't kill my PS3 Dude!!!!

I love that thing.

HolyOrangeCows5071d ago (Edited 5071d ago )

Hackers are FABULOUUUUUUSS!
No not really. Try playing a game on the Ps3. Maybe you won't fail at THAT, geohot.

"Does this guy have a life?
He spends his time finding ways to hack the PS3. What does he expect to get out of it. Fame?"
Millions of theoretical dollars.

Fun, entertainment, the satisfaction that comes from solving problems presented in the video games.

Sony pays millions to develop this security scheme, a great puzzle, and this guy solves that puzzle. Who is greater, the puzzle maker or the puzzle solver? And if the puzzle maker earns a 7 digit income it's safe to say the puzzle solver stands to make some money as well.

Geo said he didn't intend to pirate. I don't support piracy, but I do support tinkering, solving puzzles, and being able to use your own hardware how you chose. He wont make money from the PS3 hack, but if he chooses to apply his knowledge in other ways he'll have a 7 figure income as well.

And now, back to our one lined insults.

extermin8or5071d ago

if he hacks it so that you can play pirated games, then he'd have to release details on how he did it for anyone to believe him, paving the way for others to pirate...

dragonelite5071d ago

Perhaps he has a passion for like we have for games.
He said he wont make a customOs but he has put the foundation for other people to do.

coolasj5071d ago

Maybe so. But, it IS a problem when you put your results up on the internet so OTHER people can do the pirating for you.

Proxy5071d ago (Edited 5071d ago )

Sony creates a DVD burner which Bob uses to burn hundreds of bootleg DVDs and sell them illegally.

Geo creates a hack which pirates use to steal PS3 games illegally.

What's the difference between these two cases? Not much. In both cases someone creates a tool and gives it to other even though that tool can be used for illegal purposes. Who's responsible then? The facilitator and tool creator or the person who actually performed the illegal activity?

Personally, I'd like to see the pirates themselves held responsible.

Lawrst5071d ago

You are forgetting the middle man with your DVD scenario. There is someone out there like Geohot that is creating software that allows you to pirate those DVDs with your DVD burner.

DVD is a storage medium, not a piracy medium.

And honestly do you think that Geohot hasn't pirated anything? Really??

Proxy5071d ago (Edited 5070d ago )

Ok, so it's the middle man that's responsible?

Geo facilitates PS3 homebrew, a middle man enables pirated games, and then a bunch of people pirate using Geo's and the middle mans software.

Sony makes the DVD burner hardware (and software as well; drivers, basic burning suite, etc), a middle man creates some software which can be used for burning bootlegs, and the pirates create the physical bootlegs.

I still think it's the end user -- or rather the end pirate which should be responsible.

All that said, I'm sure Sony lawyers could pin some fines on Geo if they wanted under the DMCA, because it's illegal to break encryption. Paradoxically, a person has a right to thinker and use homebrew, but it's illegal to possess the ability to use homebrew.

radphil5071d ago (Edited 5071d ago )

Microsoft once tried to nab LittleBigPlanet from Sony after a few drinks

It turns out that many moons ago, Microsoft once had its eye on the Sony published LittleBigPlanet series.

Microsoft had a good idea but fumbled it again.

Cacabunga1d 10h ago (Edited 1d 10h ago )

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow2d ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo1821d 9h ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

Rynxie23h ago

And why do you think MLB said that? I believe Ms approached MLB.

ApocalypseShadow23h ago(Edited 23h ago)

Totally ridiculous comment.

The only exclusivity Sony had was to their own creation of The Show. Microsoft could have paid the MLB for the license just like Sony did and made their own baseball game.

Microsoft instead, groomed MLB for years in trying to poach Sony's game and bring it to Xbox. They're worth 3 TRILLION dollars. You think that's not enough money to make their own baseball game? Don't be delusional.

Microsoft spun it like they always do and told the media that they had to trust Sony with their hardware. After they put Sony in that position of not having a choice. Either go multiplatform or stop making one of their successful games. That's a no win scenario.

And what did Microsoft do? They didn't try to sell the game to the Xbox community. They put it on game pass to hurt Sony. Pushing the idea of why buy games that are $70 when you can play them in their cheap service for $10. It was a dirty tactic.

You fell for the Kool aid drink Microsoft served you instead of spitting it out. Hope it tasted good because you were fooled by Phil and the gang.

Xbox executive Sara Bond has told Axios that Microsoft spent a number of years trying to get MLB The Show onto Xbox consoles. And when it finally succeeded in breaking off PlayStation’s long-held exclusivity, the company had to “trust” Sony with pre-release Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Bond revealed that MLB The Show “always came up” in conversations between Microsoft and the Major League Baseball organization. “We always said, ‘We love this game. It would be a huge opportunity to bring it to Xbox.'” she recalled. However, when Microsoft’s efforts materialized, it put the company in an awkward situation where it had to send in pre-release consoles to a rival company.

Lying to yourself is unbecoming.

Article link tells you all you need to know in Sarah Bond's own words.

Hereandthere14h ago

They were too cheap/inept/lazy to develop their own mlb game, so they port begged for years and bribed the mlb to make the show multiplatform. Like i said many times, xbox brought nothing to the table their 24 years, ZERO.

ApocalypseShadow57m ago

At least you and others get it. Note drank the Kool aid and asked for seconds thinking it was refreshing.

Most don't even know how it all played out but it's there in black and white for all to see. Microsoft brought it up for years until the MLB forced Sony's hand. It was a win win for Microsoft. Kill one reason to buy a PlayStation or kill the game by dropping it in a cheap service to kill Sony's sales numbers on PlayStation.

OtterX1d 12h ago

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

RNTody1d 12h ago (Edited 1d 12h ago )

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno1d 11h ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

Sheppard7t31d 9h ago

How did Sony kill the series?

Inverno1d 9h ago

They shut down the servers, that's millions of user created levels gone. That and dead are pretty much the same, it's also been years since 3 and they cancelled HUB soooo.

18h ago
fsfsxii20h ago

They shutdown the servers because no one was playing, no one in the community cared about the user created levels so why keep them up? Wtf you guys would never succeed in running a business.

Inverno18h ago

Yea dood no one was playing so they shut off the servers. Cause people with enough common sense can't just Google why they were actually shut of, right?
