I personally talked to the guy who made the video. And no joke about this. We came to the conclusion that the actual outlet on the 360 itself is bad. The 360 works fine, but it's not receiving a current from the power brick. The power brick actually works. He tested it on his friend's 360 S.

It's an issue that's easily fixed. The console isn't necessarily bricked.

If you think otherwise remember when PS3 Slims came out some of them got YLOD and YLOD is very rare but some people were the unlucky ones.

Saying that because one 360S failed in the first day it does not mean it will ever be as serious as it was with the older models.

MS told him to unplug everything you donut, and for a console to start it only needs the power supply, the hdmi only lets you see picture on your tv, dat's so irrelevant to anything, if the power was on then you put in the hdmi you would only be able to see picture on your tv, not stop it from red brick/red light...u guys have such passion for ms that you actually don't see how much they are ripping you lot off...fucking hell

I somewhat agree. The way this guy has his 360's stacked leads me to believe he doesn't take too much care with his consoles. He should know to give enough room around the 360 for proper ventilation and to prevent overheating.

That being said, there's no reason for a brand new product to fail just a couple days out of the box.

Why does it have to be fake, and why does it have to be someone that has it out against MS, or 360. This is not the first such article stating that there are problems with the 360/s, and given Xbox's track record I would not be surprised if the slim still had issues.

Oh...the same one that would suggest that a guy with not one, but 2 360's has some sort of agenda against Microsoft. Sure, he might have posted this video hastily (before investigating all possible reasons for the console to have stopped working). But, to suggest that people have a herd mentality for believing that a 360 could fail is absurd. All consoles fail at some point. It has been shown time and time again that the 360 seems more susceptible to failures both out of the box and after use for a time.
Thus, it is highly possible that it is true. I'm not ruling a possibility of it being faked. I just take exception to the notion that I must be some brainwashed sheep to believe that a new version of the 360 could have failed.

I personally do not buy into the fact there are millions more 360 gamers simply because they have moved more consoles out the door. That completely ignores numerous people that have needed to purchase multiple units. I am on my 5th - and last - 360.

Ignoring a past record of performance that has lasted YEARS is laughable. It makes such people look as if they are willing to do or say anything to protect Microsoft. As much as I am accused of being a blind Sony supporter, I am a bastion of objectivity in relation to such people.

On a similar subject, installing a feature that refuses to allow the console to function and labeling such technology a system protection mechanism is the height of consumer insults. Would people think these system protection shutdown features are a great idea on aircraft? So much for flying first class.

Old 360's are pieces of junk, you won't get an argument from me. The Jasper units seem to be much more reliable (anecdotal evidence of course but the RROD issue seems to be under control). I said this in another thread...I traded in my 4 yr old original xbox (with some games) and only ended up paying $60 for the new "Xbox S"...I can't really see how it would have any overheating issues. The exhaust window helps quite a bit. It gets no warmer than my PS3 slim. I'm sure a few here and there will break (rrod or otherwise) but I think this newer style is much better. I still HATE the freaking power brick. My ps3 = no power brick. One other thing that pisses me off is that it didn't ship with an HDMI cable. I have plenty, but cmon, no hdmi cable MS?

PS3 fanboys tell that story because they think it makes them less guilty for all the trolling they do now. Go read old threads and you will see that it was never that way. There were fewer people on the site in general, but there were still lots of PS3 fanboys talking crap about the 360 even back then.

For those of you that repeat that myth I challenge you to prove it. It's easy to claim that's the way things were, but I want you to show a bunch of links from back then when N4G was supposedly dominated by 360 fanboys and PS3 fanboys had it so hard.

If what you are saying is true it should be easy to prove. But I know you can't. I've read through tons of old threads to see if there was any truth to that claim and I found that things were more equal between the PS3 and 360 fanboys, but the site certainly wasn't dominated by 360 fanboys.

Look at the console in the link you provided that's the OLD 360 brick. The new one has diagnostic features built into the brick to test the console and tell you if its dead and if it is will cut power as a safety feature so the parts don't get even more damaged so MS saves on repairs. None of you even know what RRoD is! The console still turns on with old RRoD, his didn't.

His console had a faulty power supply connector where it plugs in (on the console), which is an entire separate problem from what used to be the RRoD. This issue is a fluke, and not widespread. Don't even get me started on the number of YLoD's I see on the playstation forums everyday. Get off your high horses, console problems happen all the time! nintendo, ms, sony, fucking sega! everyone.

The minor problems affecting a few users are being blown out of proportion because people get horny at the idea of the new unit failing, probably because they're pathetic and insecure. There's always a few bad apples, and it is the same for all electronics. I award none of you any points for trolling, and may the world have mercy on your pathetic souls.

Mine just did this too. I've been looking for another person to have this problem so that I would know I'm not alone. Microsoft keeps suggesting the same thing unplug everything and let it cool. i dont have a xbox360, not even the slim one, but i have a ps3 and hardware is hardware. TO ME it seems that there may be a defect in power input/output with the power brick or that your power supply is either too little or too much that ur xbox cant run. so my first advice is try a different outlet, maybe even a friends house n see what happens there. if the problem is the same then try changing out the power brick n see what happens. if the problem is still the same, then id say there are internal problems with the 360s.

when my ps3 had a ylod, it was come on for 30sec-15min n then shut off, which sounds a whole lot like ur problem. this was a heatsink problem due due to overheating. n since u do have warranty still id advice u to yell at MS ear about it some more. best the hopes to ur xbox 360s problems buddy

About a month my after getting my 360 elite the power brick did something like that, so I had to send it in to M$ for warranty .Luckly my brothers 360 had a disk drive error so his 360 was being repaired, so I was able to borrow his power brick. Not too long after I got my new power brick I got the RROD. Once I got another 360 it started having a disk drive error reading.

To me, it's not an issue anymore but I believe these websites will continue to post videos of their bricked new 360s in order to keep the claim that MS hasn't solved the issue. I'd rather wait for an independent source to take a valid survey and let us know what the failure rate of the 360S is.

My second 360 is working perfectly since 2 years by now and my launch 60gb PS3 is still working like a charm.

It's not like it never happened with cars! I bought a ford escape like 3 years ago and Thanks god I had warranty for a full year on everything and 3 years for all that bath in oil because it failed on the first year. My honda civic did break this year! just one year old and it already broke, the supposed toughest car ever. There's always bad luck and some bad products here and there. Only on N4G does two malfunctioning console equal a mass problem. How many 360s have been sold by now? Thousands? So we've seen one console that had overheated. Note the word overheated, not broken, it just needs to cool down.

And the second issue we've seen is a malfunctioning power brick. So not RROD, but the power brick. Not a problem that has plagued the 360 en masse before, so at the moment an isolated incident. An unfortunate experience that can happen to any electrical device.

Now I'm not going to defend MS over the RROD fiasco, no-one can, it's indefensible.

It's a power issue. I don't know about the S, but the manual for the original model explicitly states that the 360 is not to be plugged into a surge protector as overloaded surge protectors do not provide a steady power source.

I still have the original 20GB PS3 (purchased week one) and have had no problems. I play that thing hardcore too.

I also own three 360s. One was purchased a year ago (freezes sometimes). One was purchased two months ago, its dead. The other was purchased a month ago and its fine. Its hit or miss with a 360. The reliability with Microsoft is terrible.

The reason the PS3 was expensive when it first came out was because it was designed properly. No power brick outside the unit, HDMI, WIFI, a decent HDD, full HD and so on.

The 360 on the other hand was cheaper because it is made cheaply. It breaks, it has an old dvd drive, it's had HDMI, HD, HDD drives and WIFI tacked on hap hazardly from day one. Far be it from saving their customers money, they have actually cost them more.

Every electronic product has a chance of failure. Sure there are standards, sure they do a quality check on either each product or in groups of a product, but things happen and electronics can fail.

This "article" can be exactly what it's claimed to be or it can be something wrong with the power supply. It's a person with an electronics problem. Which is extremely common.

All I'm saying is that things happen and soon enough consumers will be able to tell if it's the minority or if there's a greater problem like the original.

EVERY Company in the gaming industry is trying to milk you for money. Dont be a lemming and just buy into Sony's hype because you bought their console. got to say, psn+ entitles you to an hour gameplay on demo's + exclusive beta's, and its optional you can still play online without it, 3d tv is awesome i've tried it, trust me its the future, remember when people said HD wasn't necessary???? i do. and i dont want move so i aint gonna buy it, but i can still play my console without it, and with the £200 i dont have to spend on a new console, that may or may not overheat in a few days time, i could go out and treat my self to move, if i choose to. It actually looks rather ugly in video. Also proves the only reason the 360 slim is selling so well is that older 360 owners are just upgrading. Playing Alan Wake on my 360S and I'm getting a temperature reading between 119-122, for those of you interested. I placed a thermometer right on top of the exhaust vent. That's not as hot as people are claiming. Go to any desert hotter than that and laptops and such still work.

Just for giggles I should do a temp reading of my phat PS3, but I have no reason to, it's been reliable so far. I just wanted to see if the 360S was running as hot as everybody claimed. I knew hot air was blowing out, but it felt hotter. I think that's the main issue, people feel 119 degree air and compared to their room temp, it feels burning hot, when in actuality people live in climates much hotter and they own electronics.

Just get rid of all RED led colored lights in the 360 - period! Change them to Green and light blue or something. The color red is obviously a jinx in the console that they cannot fix. This is unfortunate for the new hardware if there are multiple reports of problems. With the history of the console, you won't catch me being an early adopter. But I can understand folks who were waiting for this one to release to replace an existing console.

i must say you fanboys are crazy...crazy but loyal to such a weak excuse of a compnay. You guys defend the console because its one or two consoles when ur not getting the bigger picture. Microsoft with its xbox console, 360 console have been known to fail more than the competitors console, its always red ring this or e-74 or watever they call them. Im not 100% sure on whats the percentage of red rod consoles but i image its somewhere between 45%-65% or more and if i remeber correctly there has been a few sites that have a more accurate number but in any case, my arguement is that these are supposed to be the new more improved consoles and it hasnt been a month yet and there is already reports coming in about them failing...and this has not been the first time that microsoft said we have a new batch of consoles that will eleminate the red ring. they said that with the elites and still red rings....now they copied sony's idea of going slim and look more failed systems, there shouldnt have been a single artice of a failed system for atleast 6 months to a year not few days or weeks after launch.i dont expect them to drop the fail rate downt to 0% but damn....people pouring their money into ur savings account the least they could do is give em free online play since the system craps out so quickly

I had a feeling there was something untrustworthy of this 'new' 360. No matter how you slice it, its still the same 'ol p.o.s rushed architecture in a deceptively, astetically attractive shell.
Who cares if RROD has been programmed out of BIOS if the problems that cause RROD still affect the system to become inoperable? So now, instead of RROD, we get a warning screen that abruptly appears in the middle of gameplay, or red dotted power brick that renders the system useless.
The fear of 'will my system die today' when sitting down for a session of 360...is not over. Any other company would be ruined in this business. Funny, my Dreamcast still works like charm...so does my Atari 2600....but the week old 360...

Who even cares. I like my xbox, I like my wii, and I'm planning on getting a ps3 for the last guardian. I pay 50 dollars a year for xbox live, and I don't really care about the cost because 50 dollars a year is really not very much money. I've had 2 xboxes fail on me, and that sucks, I guess, but I have had 2 friends' ps3s break too. Hardware like this breaks, that's a fact of life. Learn to be passionate about something other than being blindly loyal to a single brand.

out of the millions of xbox360 slims that were sold, the best they can come up with is one guy with an issue? i dont buy it. stop backing your 360 and move it to a better spot. stand it up so it can breath better. it's way too close to the wall and on top of another 360. not too bright. and also follow microsofts instructions to fully next time and stop skipping steps because you thought it was cool to the touch.
