GamesRadar's E3 2010 awards

Games radar staff writes,
"With E3 2010 barely 24 hours behind us, it’s hard to clear our minds and think about the biggest and best things we saw and played. In fact, the past four days are such a blur it was hard to nail down just four pages worth of all the awesome stuff on display. But, rather than sit around all weekend and wait for Monday, we dragged our tired asses in for one more meeting, figured out the most memorable stuff and got this thing ready to go."

there Are definitively alot of good titles getting recognized so that is tight.

morganfell5065d ago

These guys must be kidding. A live action movie with real actors that could be shot and edited in less than a day gets best game they knew nothing about? Really?

Sorcery A tech demo that wishes it was a game

"What’s that, Sony? No Harry Potter license? But you’ve made a Harry Potter game anyway and called it Sorcery? Isn’t that going to look a bit awkward when it finally appears? Oh, no matter. No one’s going to notice it. In fact it probably won’t even get released. Because it’s a content-deprived, one-trick pony design with the sole purpose of saying ‘Hey, look, you can move a character and use motion control. This Move thing isn’t a load of casual old toss after all’. But we can’t hear it very well over the sound of it being crap."

Well then WTF are most Kinect games? Especially Milo and Kate.
If anything Sorcery has a ton more to offer than most of what MS showed for Kinect. Wow they never cease to amaze me with their sheer ignorance.

And to add to that:

Gabe Newell was listed under most disappointing no show?
Seriously? The mere fact Gabe Newell stepped out on to the floor at Sony's conference was mind blowing. Nobody saw that coming and quite possibly it was the biggest surprise of E3. Let's not forget the bigger picture. Steam is coming to the PS3! Yeah GR let's down play Gabe at a Sony press conference and why he was there. What a shocker.

The most disappointing no show for me was no Last Guardian and Agent. I'm guessing Last Guardian will make it's next appearance at TGS but still it would have been nice to see some Agent footage.

morganfell5065d ago (Edited 5065d ago )

Sorcery floored me. One of the most intuitive uses of motion controls I have ever seen. And Gamesradar is a joke considering Sorcery will be on the shelves at least a year before Kingdoms.

Really Gamesradar, is this the most insight you can muster? Do your feeble observations not extend beyond the big black line in the sand that warns you are still in Idiotville?

Lionhead5065d ago

Yeah I really enjoyed seeing the Sorcery demo tbh, was rather interesting. I may not buy it, but I appreciate what they showed and it looked really cool for a motion game. Flaming tornado ftw!

I don't think these guys like Sony much though.

Some of their "awards" were kinda spot on though, they lost me with a few though.

NecrumSlavery5065d ago

I'm getting Sorcery day one. It's that kind of game that utilizes the technology in many ways to both demo it and make an enjoyable experience. It'll end up a treasured game, like Warioware for the Wii, or Trace Memory for DS. Show us what the move is all about. Shaking up potions, slinging magic, 1:1 quake attacks, a mouse. It's like Fable and Metroid combined. Killer game Sony!

saint_john_paul_ii5065d ago

keep in mind, these are the same guys that tried too hard to make Killzone 2 fail, but got dominated by neogaf, and had to eat their words later on. they have no say what so ever in this industry.

wicko5065d ago

The funny (read: sad) part was that just before that section they had written that everything for Kinect was a bunch of stiff and uninteresting tech demos.

Not to mention these morons think Harry Potter invented wizards.. just wow.

Shnazzyone5065d ago

You guys do understand gamesradars hook is humor right. You guys take internet too SRS

telekineticmantis5065d ago

People are gonna be surprised about sorcery I tell you that now. I don't get how it has to be a copy of harry potter. If we're gonna do that to games let me start talking about the things Halo stole from Aliens Predator Etc. 90% of video games take from movies and shows very few don't.

"Best Ammo For Internet Memes: Dance Central... Runner-up: Nintendo's 3DS sizzle reel"

No, no. This is objectively false. Konami's press conference was the stuff of *legends*.

Steam's highest-rated game is now less than a dollar in the Spring Sale

Jack writes: "Yet again browsing the latest offers in the Steam Spring Sale has led us to track down the very best. In terms of price to quality, we don’t think that it gets much better than this. Portal 2 is now less than a dollar, and if you haven’t got it already, now is the time to pick it up."

TheEroica42d ago

Portal deserves to be one of steams highest rated games... It's almost tetris levels of perfect game design.

TheEnigma31342d ago

It's a great game, but highly overrated. But for $1, it's an amazon deal.

Friendlygamer42d ago

Valve should bring their games to ps5

Kados42d ago (Edited 42d ago )

Gotta love Steam. Just got Portal 2 for .97 cents CAD. Should have been $1.29, selected the bundle with Portal 1 and 2, which gets a 25% discount, already have Portal 1, so it removes the cost of that, and still applies the full 25% bundle discount to Portal 2. 90% + 25% discount.

Friendlygamer41d ago

That's sweet, I've been thinking about building a modest pc to play some oldies

Infinite but not the first two games? Witcher 3 but not the first two games?? GTA V but not literally any of the games before it??? Portal 2 but not the first? Also if you're going to play Shadow of The Colossus play the remaster and not the remake. Can't say I disagree with the list but my man it's all over the place.

Name Last Name49d ago

I mean some sequels are objectively better and you don’t need to play the whole series.

Inverno49d ago

But most of these games have a story to follow, sure you can catch up with a YouTube vid but where's the fun in that?

LucasRuinedChildhood49d ago (Edited 49d ago )

A list like this isn't telling you not to play the previous games if you want to. It's just giving you legendary games to play.

But tbh, you don't always have to force yourself to play every entry in a franchise to get to the better ones.

- The vast majority of Witcher 3 players never played the first 2 and had a great time. The first 2 games aren't in the same league.
- The GTA games are self-contained with the odd fun reference. You can easily jump into any of them.
- The Shadow Of The Colossus remake looks and controls better than the original (plus it has a 60fps option while the remaster is just 30fps). New players will enjoy it more.
- Portal 2 is a lot better than Portal 1 and takes the concept much further gameplay-wise. Storywise, Portal 1 is fairly light too. Not that you shouldn't play it but realistically ... you'd love Portal 2 whether you play it or not (at lot of Portal 2 players have never played 1).

Bioshock 1 is the only one I agree with you on simply because it's one the best games of all time and arguably better than Infinite. No other setting like Rapture.

Looking at the list, I'd recommend playing Uncharted 1 before 2 but no doubt, 2 is the legendary one you have to play.

Inverno49d ago

I get it, but that's just my opinion on his opinion. I just think that before you play a sequel you should still play what came before it. Maybe it's just me but i find it fascinating playing through the first game in a series and seeing how it has evolved through its sequels. Like I said I don't disagree with the list, other than SoTC which I strongly believe the remaster of the original should be played above the remake.

AuraAbjure49d ago

Awesome list! Hot take on Fear (and it's hard af expansion Persaus Mandate!) Bioshock Infinite is stellar, so is the Witcher 3 and you nailed it by having Ocarina of Time. So many fantastic games! Gotta play 'em all! Next one on my list is Prey after I beat Dead Space 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction.

valve suck so much at making games now, opting just to smaug on top of an enormous pile of money,
that fans got so desperate that they have to make their own games.
this industry is fucking over.
