Really? Kotick's Wish [to have] "COD be an online subscription service tomorrow"

Ironstar: So it's no secret that Activision loves the revenue the Call of Duty franchise generates for their company. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, being the most popular, has been hammered daily by fans of the online multiplayer.

What's next? We have to pay for every map, perks, weapons, and to access online mode that already is on the disk.

deadreckoning6665064d ago

IMO, let him do it. Who cares? Just buy KZ3, BC2, or MOH instead?

coolcut1355064d ago

yea i know. let him go ahead and fail. but if he succeeds we all have a huge problem.

Jamie Foxx5064d ago (Edited 5064d ago )

he even says 'hopefully its coming'....360 owners need to boycott COD if this greedy man does this

FanOfGaming5064d ago

agreed @reckoning but it's truly shameless what they're doing

bioshock12215064d ago (Edited 5064d ago )

The sad thing about is that most people will probably still pay for it. Just look at the COD black ops pre orders they are doing really good even though most people said they were gonna stop buying COD. Because of the stuff Activision has done lately.

@jamie Foxx not just Xbox live also PSN and PC.

Imtey5064d ago

It IS subscription based at the moment...

Poor COD addicts have to pay $15 dollars every one in a while to play, but it's OK, because they get free maps too xD

secksi-killer5064d ago

???

what do you think hes going to do? just make subs based on the 360, and leave the ps3 alone because knows hows serious its fanboys are or something.

i dont understand what you are talking about

maddhatter1235064d ago

360 owners already pay a subscription so they would be paying twice just to play cod. it would be a problem on psn just not as big of one since it is free.

X-Frame5064d ago

That's what I'm doing anyway.

sikbeta5064d ago

Come on Pals, it's Kotick we are talking about, if it was for him, he would put the content of game in DVD9 on CDs and make you pay $60 for every Disc...

I have often wondered what it would be like if CEOs were honest. Now I know that they don't do it, because they look like as*holes.

we heard u the first time

WrAiTh Sp3cTr35064d ago

Damn, that sucks for fans. I often wonder how it is, that I have yet to play Modern Warfare 2, lol.

CobraKai5064d ago

They'll probably have us pay for virtual bullets

maddhatter1235064d ago

i hope he does it just so people stop playing cod.

jessupj5064d ago

Yeah, I really think sales will flop if he does that and rightly so. So I hope he does go ahead with it.

I can see it not being advertised at all and not being pronounced clearly on the cover. So I can imagine a lot of sheep buying the game, rushing home, poping in the disk, waiting for it to load, then this message comes up...

"You must pay Activision $15 every month as well as bending over while Activision has their way with you if you want to play online".

But we know there are a HEAP of kids that play the game so they'd just get their parents to pay. Hopefully the parents say no.

Blacktric5064d ago

Black Ops will feature a system like this;

"You'll buy the "core" game for 60 dollars. Then you will buy each singleplayer campaign levels for 15 dollars each. If you want to save your game and have checkpoints you will pay extra 5 dollars for each level again. If you want to play multiplayer; you'll buy the maps you want to play for 15 dollars each and if you want weapons and perks, you'll buy them for 5 dollars each as well. Otherwise you'll be completely naked in the multiplayer without weapons."

So how is this idea Mr. Kotick?

play17boy5064d ago

ROFL that's for the next COD don't worry.

BleuStreeks5064d ago

This will be bad for gamers big time...I am already boycotting COD...there are a lot of better FPS's out there for me to enjoy...so I wont be losing sleep over this.

DigitalHorror815064d ago

I returned Modern Glitchfare upon learning of Kotick's plans to rake gamers over the coals.

I refuse to kill the gamers by supporting him.

sikbeta5064d ago

"Make it a Dollar", would say Kotick...

Yo Mama5064d ago (Edited 5064d ago )

You're missing the point of what Jamie Foxx is saying. He's saying that he feels bad for 360 owners because not only would they be paying for LIVE but they'd have to pay a subscription to play COD on top of that. Whereas, PS3 and PC users will only be paying one fee to play COD online.

Was it really that hard to comprehend?

BloodyNapkin5064d ago

If PSN had some of the features offered through xboxlive i would pay under 3 bucks a month for it also.

Persistantthug5064d ago

a year because lots of people like CoD.

He's a total douche and he won't be satisfied until people stop buying Activision's crap.

Personally, I've never bought ANY Call Of Duty game.

Now that I think about it, I haven't bought 1 single game this gen that Activision has put out since I bought my PS3 Jan, 2009.

Maybe it's time you all did the same

Kain815064d ago

i have not bought one game from Activision this Gen...and if they proclaim this shit, it seems that i will not buy anything from them in the future too

BloodyNapkin5064d ago

Yeah well they do not miss your sells trust me. They are doing just fine without your money.

DARK WITNESS5064d ago

at least we can't blaim him for Bobbies business practice, it's those millions who have bought it that are the mugs... myself included.

Baka-akaB5064d ago

So were are those "kotick is a nice fella" guys ? (after that lame "infomercial interview")

Baka-akaB5064d ago (Edited 5064d ago )

@exnihilonihilfit
seriously , aside from the blizzard part , i dont see them and havent for years .

Cod4 was a blip on a personal radar that didnt care since quake 3

BeaArthur5064d ago

I'm not going to go that far. There are some good games published by Activision but if this guy thinks I'm paying a subscription for any CoD game he's on crack.

exnihilonihilfit5064d ago

I mean really, what game does Activision publish that you can't do without, aside from Blizzard games?

SuperbVillain5064d ago

if this succeeds,it isn't this guy whos an idiot,it's the people that actually pay for it.

Judge Delays Ruling on FTC's Attempt to Exclude Evidence in Microsoft's Favor in Activision Case

The legal battle for the acquisition of Activision Blizzard continues, with Microsoft countering one of the FTC's latest moves and the Judge delaying a relevant ruling.

Look, to be honest the FTC should just stop.

MS has A/B and nothing has really changed yet...if you are worried about 5-10 years from now...just drop it cause the future is unpredictable.

Take this week's news, that 4 Xbox exclusive are going Multiplatform.

Microsoft Allowed to Probe Sony and Ubisoft in Legal Battle Against FTC, but Regulator Fires Back

The legal battle between Microsoft and the FTC over the Activision Blizzard acquisition continues. The house of Xbox just scored a major point but the FTC is firing back.

XiNatsuDragnel83d ago

Yeah man I think Microsoft here getting to probe is kinda wrong unless you only have accessed to necessary information not complete access imo.

Abriael83d ago

Obviously they aren't giving them the password to Sony's computers and telling them "help yourself."

Eonjay82d ago

"Microsoft allowed to probe Sony and Ubisoft"

Sounds hot...

ApocalypseShadow83d ago (Edited 83d ago )

Maybe Microsoft should also talk and get help from their "congressional influencers" at The Capital. They had plenty to say on the matter before the acquisition. They are mighty quiet after the purchase went through. Almost as if they had a stake in the matter.

Abriael82d ago

Could you perhaps explain how this is related? I'm honestly curious since you seem to bring it up rather often.

82d ago
S2Killinit82d ago

He is pointing out how corrupt MS is, and how money talks. I think.

KwietStorm_BLM82d ago

I would say read between the lines but it's pretty damn clear as it is.

Bathyj82d ago

You should be careful upsetting Sony too much Microsoft.
You might need them to sell your subpar games soon.

TornRaptor82d ago

The games will become the best things ever all of a sudden.

Bathyj82d ago

Yeah I really doubt that.
I'm struggling to think of one I really cared about missing.

Hofstaderman82d ago

Bwhahahaha. Ain't that the truth.

Mr_cheese82d ago

The only exclusive im personally interested in from Microsoft is Elderscrolls and that's not even got s release date.

Everything else is genuinely of none interest.

OtterX82d ago

Microsoft never waits for the probing to be consensual.

derek82d ago

This isn't a major victory. They're essentially being allowed to call witnesses in regards to agreements they reached with Sony and Ubisoft which was initially blocked because Microsoft didn't make the request through the proper channels. This case is dead, there is no way the ftc will be allowed to unwind this acquisition.

Sephiroushin82d ago

they probably know case is death but want some proof to sue them for a few millions regarding other stuff, the ftc loves to sue everyone, be sure that as soon as all this end they will just go sue MS and end in a settlement.
