Anandtech: The Xbox 360 Slim (Valhalla): Dissection Galleries Up

"Today UPS dropped off my Xbox 360 Slim (codename Valhalla) and I did exactly what you'd expect me to: run power numbers on it and take the whole thing apart. I've posted pics of the system compared to the old Jasper Xbox 360 here and a gallery of my dissection of the system here. Expect to see some power and noise data soon followed by a detailed dissection guide. And if you're looking to get your hands on one the Microsoft Store apparently got a shipment of around 20,000 boxes and aren't anywhere near selling them all out."

Very Nice much improved just wish they went with a slot drive instead

Traded old one in and only paid 175 for it. Man this thing is super quiet. After playing on it for about 5 hours, it wasn't anywhere near as warm as my old 360.

Can't wait to see how durable this new xbox is. I would get one, but I bought my arcade 6 months ago.

Its very reliable and remember its not because of the "X" clamp at the back of the motherboard that caused the RROD, it was the faulty soldering.

Moonboots5074d ago

The X Clamp does contribute tension to said solder and causes the board to flex. You are mostly right and I don't believe the X Clamp is any worry. With the 45nm, a fan directly on the chip and the redesigned ventilation slots, I think MS took the extra steps.

Time will tell but I know MS has it in them, the first Xbox was a tank.

That thing would survive a 20 feet drop, excellent console.
