Metroid; it has two sets of fans, really. The ones that played it back on the NES and enjoyed the 2D platforming mixed with exploring the alien worlds if the universe, and the ones that were first brought into the universe with Metroid Prime. No matter how many people say "it's not a shooter," it's definitely very shooter-like . Well, Metroid: Other M sees us combine the two aspects of this great franchise, and I'm please to say that it works.
With Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty coming soon, it's time to look back at the developer's greatest triumphs...and one oddball favorite.
Former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime reflects on Metroid: Other M and his initial high hopes for the game.
Yeah we all loved how you took a stoic badass and turned her into a whiny shrew. All those writers should be sacked.
VGChartz's Paul Broussard: "The early-mid 2000s saw something of a golden age for Metroid games. After an eight year hiatus, Metroid burst back onto the scene in dramatic fashion. Largely buoyed by the critical and financial success of Metroid Prime (at least, relative to other Metroid releases), Metroid saw a whopping six new titles between 2002 and 2007, as well as one rather bizarre pinball spin-off that wound up being much better than it had any right to be. Metroid had never been this popular before."
Never though the day would come where I say this but I’d be fine with having every 2D Metroid remade the way Dread plays.
Gotta have this game!!!
:sigh:
Again? I don't get it. 2D? You actually played the game and still think it's 2D? C'mon. You aren't restricted to a 2D plane.
You can run around in all directions at any time. This room?

You can walk in any direction in it. Because the game isn't 2D. It's 3D. See an alien somewhere you wanna shoot? You can run over to it. See that piping? Yeah. For the morph ball...and you walk to it by...moving in 3D space.
In some places, the camera angles do indeed suggest old school side scrolling. But that doesn't restrict Samus' movements to a 2D plane.

Anyways. Yes, this is my most anticipated game of the year.
