At the moment, you could be forgiven for thinking Square Enix is reaching into its well-stocked archives and re-releasing games on PSP and DS like game design is a discipline without a future.PocketGamer hardly surprised then that the somewhat obscure (from a Western perspective) if critically-acclaimed, turn-based Mech strategy role-playing game Front Mission is receiving a DS makeover. Boasting touchscreen controls, a graphical overhaul, and a new multiplayer mode, it could be one of the most significant facelifts we've seen for a handheld.
Front Mission 1st, a remake of Square Enix’s classic SNES tactical RPG, is coming to the PS4 following a period of Switch timed exclusivity. The spruced up HD re-release first launched on Nintendo’s hybrid hardware late last year, but now Trophies have started to populate on Sony’s servers, suggesting a PS4 port announcement is imminent.
Good thing I kept putting Front Mission for Switch off. Now let me play Harvestella for trophies.
Please tell me a Steam release is on the cards too, I could get it on Playstation, but I'd rather Steam (either way, I can remove it from my Switch wishlist).
The release date, as well as other details, have been revealed for the Front Mission 1st Wander Arts Zenith Variant Action Figures.
Square Enix seems to be fully determined to bring back a few of its most glorious mecha franchises, but maybe not in the way most fans would expect.
Front Mission is a great series, played through FM3 at least 2 times.
