Was The Microsoft Kinect Show Live Or Pre-Recorded?

Was there something fishy going down at the MS extravagant show for the reveal of one gaming top pieces of discussion. Could it have been a stuff by Microsoft to make the show the way they did. With the general feeling of the show being disappointment, and lack of enthusiasm, there is still some hope as the product itself still has some great potential.

Giant Bomb said it was half and half. Half live and half pre-recorded. If you are confident in your product, you should be confident in showing it off, not halfway doing it.

The Avatar revealing Kinetic and Star Wars were surely pre-rendered. Actors didn't match up well with what was on the screen. I know they wanted to exclude 'bottom of avatar's shoe' disasters from happening again but c'mon. I don't know what to think but it was poor :/

If they cant get rid of that after a year, its never gonna be rid of.

And if a product cant even do something without your avatar going spazztastic, than its a flop and shouldnt be bought in the first place.

So when they are prerecording shows to suck you into buying it, they are basically just LYING to you.

But than again, bots are abused people and are used to being used by Microsoft. If thats your game, than go ahead and find the next excuse.

I think I lost track of the amount of excuses already. The latest being: "Microsoft is going to show it on MTV, thats how confident they are"

Its not even a LIVE show. The LIVE show disappointed, who wants to be the tv showing will differ completely from the LIVE showing by cutting it out the bad portions and using CGI to make it look good for the public?

Sony's going to have demo reel, even if its just to show off upcoming titles.

Though seeing some leaked stuff from the Natal event, on a large teletran screen, that has to be stagged. As part of the performance.

the fact that it even has to be questioned is very telling, maybe the media is coming to it's senses.

say what you will about move but at least it was demoed live on stage and actual people used it, warts and all. they didn't need a circus sideshow, "man behind the curtain" shenanigans or a media blackout.

if the shenanigans continue, the kinect is a non-functioning p.o.s. period.

Whether it is good or not. As the casuals will see the compilation games and go along with the redesign and the possible price drop. There is no denying that the games industry is heating up, sony and nintendo still to beging firing. It is going to be one hell of a week for the industry. Heres hoping for a huge day tomorrow to kick the official week off!

Alot of MS and Xbox360's success comes from the media backing alot of things they show. This was a private event for the media and they didnt impress the audience.

If Move is touted as the better option by the media it may hurt kinect, but then again i never doubt the power of MS marketing machine.

i think the big obstacle is convincing the moms that they need a 360 + Kinect. If they have a Wii already, chances are they won't get the 360 and if they don't, the Wii and its large variety of casual games already available may appear more appealing.

My friend knows what a 360 and knowing Kinect, still got a Wii for his 6 yr old and 3 yr old kids. The Wii is just a more friendly casual household name.

The Kinect 'has' to capture the hardcore demographic soon to be a viable product in the long term.

if the pre-recorded footage is true on MS's behalf, i think that it just shows that thw eye still has some/major lag time for them not to have made it fully 'live'. Sony on the other hand i feel will have 100% live footage and at some point will allow some people from the audience to try it out, since nearly everyone has tested it out.

I was think of buying a 360 just for natal oh wait "kinect" to has that rumoured price point is very unattractive and the fact that at this stage are showing "pre-recorded" footage is making me worry about it, and i think it has potential, an improved eyetoy.

Is that they like to rush stuff out the door to get a lead on the competition with the idea that they can fix problems and bugs with software updates later. that is the way they have been running their OS and Business software division for the past 25 years. the problem is that hardware is a different animal and if things aren't right in hardware it becomes a money-sucking logistical nightmare. Look at the RROD/E74 debacle. to get a jump on Sony they released an unfinished piece of hardware that bit them in the A$$. Hopefully, they aren't doing it again with Natal/Kinect.

Pre-recorded videos of actors pantomiming to the avatars movements and trying to impress people with a large animatronic Elephant does not bode well for MS.
