New Enslaved intel furthers the Uncharted 2 argument

Sure CVG started the debate, but does it hold any weight? Can a multiplatform title possibly look as beautiful as the great Uncharted 2? The first trailer did impress, but looking at some of the recent screenshots that were released you can really start to see some of the finer details alongside the broader themes that are likely to shape this game into one of the best looking games in our near future. Even if it isn't "as beautiful as Uncharted 2, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is scheduled for an October 12,2010 release by Namco Bandai.

The only thing the game has in common with Uncharted 2 is the colors. Its easy to see which one has more detail and crispness.

Crazyhorse5069d ago

Noting compares. Enslave is a bit poo in the graphics.

poe5069d ago

Game looks good but people should stop trying to compare stuff to Uncharted 2. The game came out a while ago. And hopefully developers can now match how good that looks a year later...Hopefully.

Blaze9295069d ago

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they say as beautiful as Uncharted? I don't remember Uncharted '2' being mentioned. Unless I'm wrong?

SullyDrake5069d ago (Edited 5069d ago )

But poo? Did you actually look at the full-size screens? Enslaved is shaping up to be the second best-looking multiplatform game, just barely behind Final Fantasy XIII. With a bit more polishing it could even surpass FFXIII. Remember, Ninja Theory knows the PS3 from Heavenly Sword, so they know how to use tech. If anyone can claim the best looking multiplatform game of this gen thus far, it'll be them or Insomniac.

AC130-Gunship5069d ago (Edited 5069d ago )

Has the marketing of Enslaved even started yet? I don't want to play a game because it looks pretty. I want to play a game because it has awesome gameplay mechanics and a decent story. This game is not peaking my interest. The monkey man thing is killing it for me, and what I've seen of the droid designs is turning me off also.

I still love Heavenly Sword.

TotalPS3Fanboy5068d ago (Edited 5068d ago )

even 360 gamers can tell that Enslaved is nothing compared to Uncharted 2.

This website is just trying to trick 360 gamers into making fools of themselves. Too bad 360 gamers are not as stupid as this website think.

Well, except for, of course, Cez of Rage, who's very easily influenced by websites like this. So easily peer pressured into saying thing dumb stuff he does not want to say. So easily influenced that he will even believe the website even though his own eyes are seeing the complete opposite.

Anyway, Enslaved looks good, but nothing phenomenal. But that's because it focus more on the storyline than the graphics.

Enslaved isn't complete yet.
I'm saving my judgment for the final game, although I can guarantee it will be difficult to dethrone Uncharted 2 in the graphics department.

Shadow Flare5069d ago

why do people keep comparing these games graphically? The original quote was, "Enslaved is as beautifully ANIMATED as uncharted". They were talking about the animation not graphics. But thats the media for you.....

NecrumSlavery5069d ago (Edited 5069d ago )

Shadow,

A PS3 company went multiplat. Now this crap of comparison articles are out. Sadly the 360 community ragged on Ninja Theory and Heavenly Sword. But now, it's a total 360(no pun intended) and they love this unreleased title.

enslaved looks pretty, but uncharted 2 looks realistic

beardpapa5069d ago (Edited 5069d ago )

well any game that comes out now that doesn't have graphics at least equal to Uncharted 2 must mean their graphics department fails bad. Considering you know ... Uncharted 2 is mooonnths old.

Anyway, the screenshots for Enslaved do look pretty good, but you can tell at the texture choice and design that a lot of it is half-assed. Uncharted 2's texture work is phenomenal, very detailed, and believable.

Okay. Maybe I don't want to say half-assed, but there's just not as much commitment and effort in those enslaved textures.

candystop5069d ago

Ninja Theory made games for Xbox before Playstation. Also don't act as if Heavenly Sword didn't deserve it's criticisms.

this is an insult to uncharted 2. uncharted 2 is better art wise/ and graphics wise. no competition, i am disgusted...

madpuppy5069d ago (Edited 5069d ago )

As long as the game looks good and is fun the play, who cares what people say. Personally, I expect every game I play to improve in some way over other older games, (you know? standing on the shoulders of giants and whatnot). whether it be graphic fidelity or better gameplay dynamics.

But, you do have to agree that Enslaved looks really good. maybe not Uncharted 2 good but, good nonetheless.

HolyOrangeCows5069d ago

We don't even know if those are real time. Pretty pointless article.

MysticStrummer5069d ago

The original article said Enslaved was as beautifully animated as Uncharted. Somehow this morphed into it being as beautiful as Uncharted 2. From what I have seen, neither is true, though it doesn't look bad by any means.

soljah5069d ago

when you make a game to compare or rip off the king of hill. that game is set up for failure. look at Dante's inferno. as in the where are u now category.

Parapraxis5069d ago

While I absolutely LOVED Heavenly Sword and Uncharted 2 (more so)
I think my eyes are capable enough to discern which game looks better between UC2 and Enslaved.

On a scale graphically, I'd give Enslaved between a 7.5-8, possible improvements could bump that up. Uncharted 2, however holds steady at between 9.5-10

Christopher5069d ago

UserThree pretty much it it on the head. It has the colors and some nice textures, but pales in comparison to the detail, lighting, and physics that improve our visual entertainment with Uncharted 2. IMHO, the only people at this time that will surpass what was done with Uncharted 3 with regards to graphics and design is Naughty Dog with Uncharted 3.

GenghisKhan5069d ago (Edited 5069d ago )

uncharted 2? that's so 2009.. GoW 3 is the new benchark

and have you seen GT5 and KZ3 trailers?

that's right, bots, your multiplatform games are playing catch up with ps3 exclusives graphics-wise.

NYPunk885069d ago (Edited 5069d ago )

Looks real nice but the textures still don't look as good as UC2. Never the less it's a good effort and I wish them all the success with their title.

@GenghisKhan

As much as I love GOW3 I still think UC2 ranks above it. In UC2 you could position drake a couple of inches from a wall with bright light bouncing off of it and the textures would still look amazing and the colors....good god it's perfection. I don't see anyone toping UC2 anytime soon. The leap from UC1 to UC2 was huge, I wonder if ND can continue this level of progress. If so, the PS3 definitely deserves the crown.

Sevir045069d ago

This game is complete already and is being polished. i think the end result will be amazing, but the media really needs to stop with this... and fanboys really need to hold their mouth shut., The original article said that Enslaved is as beautifully ANIMATED as Uncharted. It may not have said Uncharted 2 but i think the article was talking about the franchise as a whole because the Uncharted franchise IS BEAUTIFULLY animated as it is Unmatched in graphics on consoles right now.

MNicholas5068d ago

Uncharted 1 was vastly more detailed. More detailed characters and environments as well as higher res textures and shaders.

The art direction in Enslaved is excellent and the lighting looks convincing. It's a lot like RE5.

Here's are some actual in-game captures of Uncharted 1:

Who the hell Ninja Theory think they are to claim something like that?!

The only multiplataform game EVER that was on par with Uncharted 2 was Mass Effect 2 and that's already highly debatable!

No other, exclusive or not have the "pedigree" that Uncharted 2 has. If they had, 150 GOTYS would be meaningless.Seriously to claim something like that they must be attetion whores.

SOAD5069d ago

Ninja Theory didn't make that claim. These game journalist blogs are twisting their words.

N4BmpS5069d ago

Yeah It isn't Ninja theory it's these bloggers claiming to be journalist saying that Enslaved is on par or equal to Uncharted 2. Ninja Theory only stated how they feel about ND and Uncharted 2.

AKS5069d ago

Ninja Theory has only said glowing things about Naughty Dog. Tameem called them the best console developers in the world and indicated that the Uncharted series really influenced their game. Yet somehow through the media filter/ blogosphere they are viewed as thinking they are superior to Naughty Dog or something. I also remember a bunch of articles here on N4G implying that they hate the PS3. Those assertions are nonsense and didn't come from Ninja Theory.

Chaostar5069d ago (Edited 5069d ago )

To answer the question "Can a multiplatform title possibly look as beautiful as the great Uncharted 2?" Of course it can (wait before you hit disagree)...

All they need to do is put in as much time and effort as the Naughty Dog team did and they could have a game on par but we all know they won't due to certain restrictions when developing a multi-plat game i.e. time/money/platform specific requirements.

So is it possible for a 3rd party dev to create something as graphically stunning as Uncharted 2? YES. Is it probable? Well we might need C3P0 to calculate those odds.

Focker4205069d ago

Actually the 360 would need a stronger CPU to calculate the lighting, particle effects, and on screen collisions with a moving level (i.e. the train)

Chaostar5069d ago

Yeah probably but it would still be possible on the PS3. If all multi-plat developers played to each consoles strengths (like crysis 2 maybe?) instead of tryng to appease the fanboy masses with "equal" games, the world would be a better place.

Yi-Long17d ago

Little Big Planet 1 and 2 deserve a mention, IMO.

Good call on Motorstorm, a game released 2 gens ago but still looks and feels so good. Motorstorm 2 and Motorstorm RC were gems as well. They followed up the Motorstorm games with the brilliant Driveclub, which still manages to put modern racing games to shame. Imagine closing down a studio as talented as that ... (!) Incredible.

A little 'arcade-gem' back then was The Last Guy, a top down 'follow the leader' snake-like game where you had to find and lead survivors to safety during an alien invasion, on terrible looking 'Google-earth' maps. Graphics were poor, even back then, but would love that same gameplay with modern maps and graphics.

Street Fighter 4, once it finally had a full roster, was quite good, but it was always an ugly game, sadly. Imagine bringing that back while using the current SF6 engine.

Motorstorm: RC

God damn I love motorstorm so much

At the time I had a low-mid range sony 40” tv, The latency to the controller was waaaay too high, would to play a modern version

In saying that later I got a 3d lg tv and playing the 3d motorstorm in my bedroom with the environment crumbling around the track, was something special, specially compared to what others were playing at the time, will always remember that

Skuletor17d ago

Some good choices here and Resistance: Fall of Man is my most wanted PS3 remaster/remake. Not sure about their claim it was Sony's answer to Gears of War though.

CrimsonWing6917d ago

I’d rather have sequels than remakes. Look at Dead Space 1 Remake. Would’ve been cooler if we got a new entry and it failed with sales sealing the fate of a sequel rather than just replay the same game and it fail in sales and we never get a new entry.

Remakes are great for things like PS2 and earlier games to really get a crazy new graphical coat, but I think we should ease up on all these remakes and actually do sequels.

fan_of_gaming17d ago

Yeah for sure, sequels would be ideal. But in the current market environment where many big publishers are risk-averse, I'd rather get a remaster or remake that a developer can do on a budget that will be approved, rather than nothing for an IP.

Inverno17d ago

I rather they remaster and port over to PC and current gen all the games permanently stuck on PS360. Those games don't need remakes, they need to be given a chance to live again outside of their confined consoles and then give a few proper sequels. Like Sleeping Dogs, Motor Storm, LA Noir, should get another entry.

fan_of_gaming17d ago

Yeah I'd be fine with remasters of PS3 games too, they don't have to be remakes.

"Let Me Solo Her" Receives A Special Award From Namco Bandai For His 1000th Victory Against Malenia

Immersed Gamer writes: "Let Me Solo Her is a legendary Elden Ring player who mastered one of the most infamous bosses to help his fellow tarnished via co-op. And for his service, he received an award from Namco Bandai to commemorate his 1,000th victory. The reward in question is a real, and extremely dope, custom-made sword.

Malenia is regarded as the hardest boss in Elden Ring, and the relentless Tarnished has defended literally thousands of hosts against this malice. Let Me Solo Her apparently passed 2,000 Malenia kills a while back, but it’s hard to measure the exact count he is at now. Bandai Namco sent the gift his way when he was at around 1,000 kills. But due to the nature of the object, it got stuck in customs for a while!"

The 10 worst PC ports that ruined otherwise great video games

From Xfire: "It's not unusual to see the occasional bad PC port, but these ones make the bad PC ports look great in comparison."

Kados1023d ago

To be fair with GTAIV, it was a very CPU bound game, released at a time when the vast majority of PC gamers still believed that the CPU was nearly irrelevant, and that you only needed a good GPU. 95% of "gaming" builds back then were using turds for CPUs.

Giblet_Head1023d ago (Edited 1023d ago )

Ya, 2005-2010 was an interesting period. Entry/mid level CPUs have come a long way since then.

RonsonPL1023d ago (Edited 1023d ago )

The "majority" is still just as dumb as before. The game was simply f...d.
It had micro-stutters and never ever ran properly. People who say otherwise simply couldn't see the microstutter because of their LCD display's blurry motion. It should fly in 85fps or 100fps on fastest CPU back then, but it didn't. It was a buggy, awful port. I had a CPU over twice as fast as what x360 had. A GPU 5x as fast. And I couldn't do anything to make it run perfectly.
I don't know who's fault was this. Maybe it was not the developers alone. Maybe it was because of the drivers and the fact nobody gave a flying f..k about stable, high framerate on a PC game. We've had two different OSes then, and as I pointed out, microstutters were not that obvious on an LCD. There was no Digital Foundry to point such problems out and not many people still played on CRT monitors to be able to notice the problem (in like 2 seconds of playing, seriously, you don't need any tools. It just hits your eyes like a speeding truck)

GTA V continued the tradition. It manages the CPU resources so badly, it basically cannot run at locked 144fps till this day, or even 60fps in stereoscopic 3D mode (so 2x 60fps per second) because it's so dependant on single core performance and because it's so messed up by either port devs or Nvidia (who said they will fix it, then 3 years of promises led to shutting the forums down, which solved the problem in their eyes - no one complains anymore ;)

GTA III port was never optimized for even 60fps, not to mention 100 or 120.
The port of GTA V was hidden in their cabinet for almost 3 years, during which PC gamers were bein lied to about it.

See the pattern yet?
Yeah. They don't give a shit about PC gaming or assume a buggy, stuttery mess is good enough, as long as people keep buying the games.

Actually... to think of it. They didn't make a proper Lemmings game for PC either. There was Amiga version and that's it. Only later on they mercifully released Lemmings: Tribes sequel. Until then PC gamers could only dream about digitized (real recorded audio) sounds and music. So this tradition of shitting onto PC gamers is now 30 years old ;)
