Dungeon Siege 3,Square's Answer To Dragon Age: Origins

TGH Writes:

"The recent announcement of Dungeon Siege III by Square-Enix and Obsidian Entertainment has left many questioning, why? Some however are more open to the fact. Our question is, haven’t we seen this before? Granted not much information has been released regarding the story and gameplay. What has been released is the concept art, and logo, both of which look very similar to BioWare’s Dragon Age Origins. Look very carefully at these screenshots. Let us know what you think."

Very different games altogether. Dragon Age was going for this whole Wheel of Time meets Lord of the Rings thing. Dungeon Siege is like a high-fantasy Diablo.

That said, I enjoy the DS series immensely (even Throne of Agony was brilliant) and will be checking this out.

Problem with multi-plat games is I never know which platform to get it on. Likely PC as I have a home-theatre setup now.

what a terrible comparison lol.

Tacos, Square's answer to apple pie.

Mmmm... apple filled tacos...

But, yeah, you gotta wonder how hard some of these sights are trying to make controversial titles and comparisons when they're stepping this far into left field.

Wait, so you have a PC were you can play the games with better online/controls/graphics/perfo rmance but you can't decide which platform to play it on???

The superior controls are enough for me to play it on PC instead of consoles even if the graphics were somehow worse than it's inferior console counter-part.

Playing dragon age: origins on a console is cringe worthy and it also makes it somewhat unplayable, Bioware even had the "normal" mode on PC be the equivalent to the hardest difficulty on consoles.

Although most of squenix's games don't get on PC or they used consoles as the main platform when they developing the game so they had their controls in mind from the start so it doesn't make a huge difference.

It boots up without an issue, there are no settings to fiddle with, a game optimized for console controls is just more comfortable than a mouse/ keyboard setup for the couch (though I did get a nice trackball media board the other day - but a controller still FEELS better).

And these days, with a lot of games being made with consoles in mind, the graphics disparities aren't really all that great. I still play Oblivion on a console, simply because I like the controller and ease of use. I enjoy having less buttons to press and gestures to make - perhaps why I don't like the Wii as much as my other devices :)

They seem to happen the same realm though. Both fantasy dragon esque games. That look to be aiming for the same demographic/market. It is square chance to capitalize on the fact by doing so.

lol....what?

Completely different games.

The names sound the same...is that why this "article" was written?

dumb website trying to get hits with dumb comparison.

Really Bethesda? Come on

We could have gotten to explore more of the regions or revisit old ones with another developer making them. Would have shortened the time between releases of the main games.

Just thinking about what could've been. Maybe they didn't wanna be showed up on their flagship title Ala new vegas compared to fallout 3 and 4

phoenixwing138d ago

it's not that hard to show them up when they're like 20 years behind in terms of engine and development skills. If they had gotten the go ahead i guarantee it would have been better than anything they'd made recently.

anast138d ago

Bethesda didn't and still doesn't do above the bare minimum.

cammers1995138d ago

The issue here was Bethesda was butthurt that obsidian managed to develop a better fallout game at the time (new vegas) than theirs (fo3) so they didn't allow it.

It's funny how they're both owned by Microsoft now. They should be able to work together now.
