PlayStation E3 Flashback – 2005

Play looks back to E3 2005 and considers the big announcements (PS3 revealed, that Boomerang etc) as well as some of the games we're still waiting for.

Maybe Eyedentify will get revived as a Move title at some point? It would make sense as the camera could track the controllers for the minority report-ish stuff.

Both Eyedentify and Ni-Oh look interesting. Yup, would love to see more of Eyedentify played with Move...or a new game with a similar concept...

I'm glad Sony stuck with the Sixaxis/DualShock3 design, the boomerang controller looked awkward to hold. :s

that last one is definitely Red Dead Redemption. And Yeah Ni-Oh look like onimusha and I think it could be cooler hope Koei could bring it :)

I remember watching the announcement of the price for the PS3 and was so shocked that Ken Kutaragi started to blue and the ceiling started looking all pretty all of a sudden. It was one thing crammed next to so many people with the A/C a bit lacking, but with everyone sharing the same thought that was priceless.

me too. i wasnt worried about comfort because they would release it without testing that stuff. looked new and revolutionary.. then they showed the same ps2 controllers with no rumble lulz

You've got to admit though, E3 2005 was the best E3 of all time. Three big consoles revealed, and a million games announced.

nah there was a lot of smoke and mirrors, as we can see a lot of those games never got released.

E3 2005 was full of so much bull when you think about it. It was really enjoyable and exciting, but half of the games shown were just CGI.

almost every game sony had shown has either matched or exceeded our expectations.anyone with a brain could tell which was CGI and realtime gameplay.

but the funny thing is that GT5 looks better than vision gran turismo.killzone2 matched or exceeded a CGI trailer.resistance beat it's realtime early trailer.heavenly sword's animation and gameplay matched it's trailer.motorstorm looked primative early on,but the final release and it's sequel has not been matched by any other offroad racer.warhawk opened up land-vehicle-air combat like no other game.

and it didn't end there.MGS matched it's trailer.uncharted beat it's trailer and it's sequel destroyed that first look at uncharted.heavy rain matched and beat it's trailer.god of war 3 beat our expectations.

i wouldn't worry about the past.sony is delivering on the present.and readying for the future with 3D bluray and 3D games along with motion control.

not worried one bit.sony silenced the haters on ps3's capability.and the cell processor made them look like fools.

on topic: i remember back in 05' when i first heard of the ps3 and the release date. i wrote it on my calendar and everything lol. good times..
