Top 5 PS2 Games That Deserve PS3 Remakes

Late last year God Of War 1 and 2 were re-released for the PlayStation 3, this remastered version
of the God Of War series included updated graphics, and trophy support. The remastered
God Of War Collection was a great success; and it led many gamers wanting more remastered
PlayStation 2 classics to release for the PlayStation 3. Well if you're
one of those gamers craving more your dreams just might come true.
Recently Sony has been sending around a questioner asking the reader to
list PlayStation 2 games they'd like to receive a PlayStation 3
collection remake. I'm sure if Sony truly intends on remastering more
PS2 titles we'll hear about it at E3.

Lol console gamers just like to pay for what they bought previously again and again.

PS2 games should work on the PS3 like originally promised and they should automatically be upressed. Otherwise the entire old library is wasted. No ones gonna keep a PS2, PS3, PS4 all connected at the same time in the future on the same TV (along with some other console).

If i bought Doom 3 on the PC back in 2004 or farcry in 2003, in that time if i could only play the game at 1024*768. Today because i have a bigger screen i can play the game at 1920*1080. If i decide to upgrade to a 30inch screen i will be able to play at 2560*1600 i wont need to pay anyone again to upres the game for me or ensure compatibility 5 years from now.

Console gamers should be asking for compatibility instead of being charged over and over again for the same stuff. what are you guys gonna do? pay for the same remake when the PS4 is out? thats just sad.

Probably the best reasoning I have yet encountered in an article concerning the PS3 on N4G. While I myself purchased the GOW Collection recently, I certainly would not have if I already the games on PS2. Simply upscaling to 720P and adding AA and trophies isn't enough to warrant a re-purchase.

Oh, btw what is with the cutscenes in the collection not being redone, they look terrible. Also, how hard can it be to code the damn thing such that it can run in 1080P. Not good enough to only be in 720 tbh.

I should finish up by saying that I have teally enjoyed my time in GOW I and II, and I would love to see remakes if the ps2 gta games, as I only ever played gta3, never got round to the others (haven't even got gta4 yet, but plan on going on a red dead, gta, PoP and sabatoeur binge once school finishes up soon).

i bought GTA3 on the PC when it released. I dont have to wait for a company to relese a copy that runs in 1080p. If i decide to install it today on my rig, i know it will run @ 1080p.

Thats the sort of BC console gamers should be asking for. I find it sad that they have to wait for a company to decide if it even wants to release a old game again in HD and what happens when the next playstation is out? will you pay for another remake.

Getting the PC version is the best option at the moment.. why cause even 5yrs from now. if you do ever decide to play your old game, u can rest assured it will work in HD with your latest system.

The only stuff really worth playing on PC are exclusives just like consoles.

Crysis, CoH and DoW other wise the controls get messed up with a tacky console port, pc gaming is still a mess even with steam, DRM, Piracy, DVD9, windows live.

Control pad works great on console ports. Piracy is present on consoles too, DD > dvd9. Steam rocks ;-)

BTW, most games you get on pc we get on consoles, fact. Here's another fact, there are more quality titles on console than pc, unless your a pirate who emulates, fact. Oh and here's one more. The best game to play on your pc are multiplats, or games that are 2 to 3 years old now, fact. All I hear about is Crysis graphics. Playing games in HD is overrated btw. Unless the game is made for HD, unlike most current gen games (even on PC), ps2 games dont have to be in HD to be awesome. I wonder how awesome you would think Crysis was if it wasn't in HD? What would be the point of playing just an average shooter?

I can already play GOW 1 & 2 on my 60GB PS3. Same with ICO & SOTC.

But do they have Trophies? No.
Are they native 720p? No.
Can I use in-game XMB while playing them? No.

Heck, some people who missed those games the first time around would rather pay $40 for an upgraded collection.

Rather than searching around stores and online retailers for them. I know ICO by itself is gonna cost a lot more than an HD collection... if you can even find it anymore.

If you are gonna go by genre, then I'd love to see an ultimate shooter collection. Think about it, you could have a Medal of Honour in there, SOCOM 2, Killzone, Timesplitters, Red Faction 2, Unreal Tournament and Black. That's what I call an ultimate collection.

Socom4 will be more like uncharted then a socom game. Cover system, health regen, over the shoulder zoom, cinematic single player and majority of multiplayer will be respawn most likely.

give me a bright, new shiny version of Killzone 1 - with trophy support. Despite the criticism of the game, it had a great story and gameplay. One of my all-time favourite PS2 games.
Would make for a great Killzone Trilogy on the PS3.

KZ1 is better than KZ2 in everything but the multiplayer, graphics and physics department. The story was slightly better, the characters were far more interesting, the weapons were better, and the settings for some of the levels were better.

GTA: San Andreas, I would love if that were to be re-released and I could easily see myself pouring another 100+ hours into it even if it was exactly the same game just with slightly updated graphics. One of the best games I have ever played and easily my favorite GTA.

The DS3 is argubally the best controller out there on the market.

I use it for all the controller requiring games on my PC. Wouldnt be a bad idea playing GTA San andreas again in 1080p.

I bought it online once, turned out that the disc was F***ed and the game kept stopping at this one point. It did allow more to play the first 30 mins of it...and it really was beautiful. It was epic but for reasons unknown. SOTC stands out more for its reasons, but ICO is more silent.

1) Odin Sphere is in dire need of a remake. The slowdown in that game in some parts was horrendous, rendering the game unplayable, but when this didn't occur it was one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. Would be cool if we got a OS(sans glitches) and Muramasa collection Bluray w/both games in 1080p.

2) Ico and SOTC must be done.

3) A Suikoden collection set then finally conclude the series with a sixth installment w/Yoshitaka Murayama at the helm of the project.

That's all I want.

was something like 240p, so hooking up your ps3 with hdmi cables will stretch it to 1080p, but i dont think its gonna ever look good on an hdtv. if you really want to enjoy it, go find urself and older model tv, and hook up your ps2 or ps3 via coaxl(uggghhh) or standard composite.

SOCOM 2 (online multiplayer) - This would sell more than confrontation and would be great if I could put my Socom 2 disc in and play with those that download it from the PSN store.

Killzone 1 (Most people that have played Killzone 2 havn't played it. Would be interesting if just the KZ1 single player campaign could be redone with the new Killzone 2 engine.)
