Kinda cool I guess. Seems they just allowed the camera to zoom in right on top of the characters head and then able to control movement like a fps. Makes me wonder what the game would be like if I didn't ever zoom way out and scroll over the environment to check out for enemies nearby almost constantly.

Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

other than baldur's gate this list suxs...played deus ex and FFVII recently and they certainly hold up well..megaman, donkey kong and battletoads are just what they are and still look great, with the retro look.
