Nintendo Life: If X-Scape is any indication, Nintendo should encourage more developers to revisit the deepest depths of their back catalogue and make sequels to their obscurest of games.
Alex S. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "One day Nintendo will pull the plug on DSiWare, such is the fate of all digital stores, and so we’ve decided that this is the perfect time to take a look at the best DSiWare games of all time."
For an 800 point DSi game, X-Scape offers a fair amount (about 12 hours) of planet-hopping gameplay with the option to unlock missing paths and missions after you finally put the emperor in his place. If X-Scape's '80s style and immersive first-person gameplay catches your eye, then there's a damn good chance you'll love this throwback adventure. It's easily one of the most unique titles exclusively available for the DSi.
Kotaku writes: "Can you love shapes and straight lines? Crimson spider robots casting maroon shadows? Pink stripes painted beside tan in tunnels of sky-blue enemies? Fly to an era when game graphics were ugly and the best of that ugliness was beautiful".
