If the unique yet satisfying blend of horror, comedy and Brendan Fraser are your thing, then you're probably a big fan of The Mummy movie franchise. Nothing uplifts ancient Egyptian culture like making a mockery of their dead while looting their final burial place. In any case, Bigpoint and Universal Studios are teaming up to bring The Mummy Online, an action-RPG MMO, to gamers this fall.
Bigpoint appear to be developing a habit of releasing poor games based on big IP’s and it appears that habit isn’t working out following news of The Mummy’s closure. Bigpoint, also the developers behind the struggling Ice Age Online announced recently that The Mummy will be ceasing all services come today, October 15th.
Agreed, I had no idea either of these games ever existed. I wonder if the games would've been successful had people known they were out there.
The Mummy is the latest addition to the ever expanding MMORPG arsenal of Bigpoint games. Bigpoint are well known for clenching deals with some of the biggest franchises in history, recently purchasing the publishing rights to the highly anticipated Game of Thrones, adding to their previous title, Battlestar Galactica Online.
