Kung-Fu LIVE Developer Calls Out Microsoft

"In the most recent entry on the Official PlayStation Blog, Teemu Maki-Patola, Virtual Air Guitar Company CEO and main man behind the upcoming PSN title Kung-Fu LIVE, has called out Microsoft’s upcoming Project Natal, essentially stating that Sony has beaten them to the punch!"

lmao. This sounds more like a guy trying to get the name of his game out there by causing a stir than anything else. I might pass on KFL if this is the kind of people making it. There's no room for fanboys in the industry.

PS-Eye has been capable of doing what Natal is also claiming to do, without the media hype.

Nike5092d ago (Edited 5092d ago )

It's one thing for gamers to call out Natal, which hasn't been properly revealed in it's entirety, and saying Sony did it first.

But a developer doing it? One would think he'd be smarter than that, with so little info to go off of.

@NJShadow: Or he just wants attention. Nothing new about that tactic.

Edit: The actual quote -

"We also found ourselves in the middle of the rising motion gaming discussion as many of the stories call out that our game already does what Natal is trying for: Kung-Fu Live uses full-body skeleton tracking to track the player’s moves in real-time. Thus, people have been saying that our game and tech using the PlayStation Eye is stealing the thunder from Natal. LOL!"

Sounds like that can interpreted as how funny he thinks how people are saying the PS Eye has stolen Natal's thunder (which, agreed, is kind of like laughing at HHG's retarded story on the same several weeks back).

Apologies to Teemu Maki-Patola. Seems PS Lifestyle is just editorializing his quote.

NJShadow5092d ago

Or maybe he knows something we don't? Hmmmmm...

As developers get closer to perfecting the side by side arcade experience at home, the fighting genre is getting a well needed breath of air. SSFIV is awesome, BBCS comes out in july, a new KOF is in development, and the mantle of it all is 2011s Marvel Vs Capcom 3.
as the SSFIV announce would say:
its survival of the fittest on a global scale

On topic: this looks kinda like that boxing eyetoy game for ps2.

zoks3105092d ago

I agree, when the game made an appearance a few months ago the developers website had a video of this game being played for both the Natal and the PS3, and now when the game was officially unveiled last week it's a Sony exclusive?

The video that showed both the 360 and PS3 version is now gone, but the devs are still interested in Natal.

Check out their website.

IdleLeeSiuLung5092d ago

Says the guy that releases what looks like a Flash game. They probably should have done a 3D fighting game, not a side scroller where you are looking straight into the screen.

Doesn't map very well....

NatalmovesU5092d ago

Sony makes 2D bodytracking games, MS makes 3D bodytracking games.
The technology to do what Natal is doing is simply not present in the PSeye.

madmonkey05092d ago

what 3D body tracking games has NATAL shown?

Inside_out5092d ago

Must be why the army is INTERESTED..

ArchangelMike5092d ago

Developers make such fanboyish comments all the time... I'm looking at you Gabe newell

WildArmed5092d ago (Edited 5092d ago )

yeah. the flamebait title Reminds me of 'teh definitive' chant that we had going before.
I find it funny when devs speak to much.
Stick to your products..
it just makes you look bad..
*for more info see: Turn 10.

And not to be a party pooper: The Devs DO NOT call out natal.
Instead they are using it as a point in their work.

NJShadow5092d ago

Yeah, it's definitely gonna take more than that to beat it, but considering that Natal is basically using the same technology and the PS3 has the motion controller on it's side like the article says, Sony shouldn't be worried.

keyserhitman5092d ago (Edited 5092d ago )

can you give me some gameplay videos of natal?
just so i can judge for myself
or
are you just saying that because of your own belief?

NJShadow5092d ago

It's probably due to the fact that Microsoft is marketing Natal as a 1st tier piece of hardware, whereas Sony has typically marketed its motion controllers as 2nd tier or alternative ways to play.

Natal has shown off a lot, but the Move will deliver IMO.

Nike5092d ago (Edited 5092d ago )

@keyserhitman:

Why don't you say the same to the Kung-Fu dev in the story? Has he seen any videos besides the ones known to the public? Or is it just his belief that they did things first?

We all need more info on Natal to make proper judgements, and devs like this are no exception.

Edit@below: Once again, you can't criticize people for liking Natal by saying nothing worthwhile for it has been seen, and then turn around and say it's the same as the EyeToy when nothing worthwhile (as in gameplay demonstrations, public playtests, etc) for it has been seen.

I just want E3 to happen so we can get this stupid issue over with. Then I can rave or rant about either motion controller accordingly.

"Natal has shown off a lot"

Are you serious? Microsoft hasnt shown nothing about this NATAL they keeping it a secret all we seen is people looking dumb trying to hit some red balls...thats a lot that natal shown...

Godmars2905092d ago (Edited 5092d ago )

And what actual Natal title have you seen that makes you say that?

Nevermind that this is a $15 PSn game - its cheap for a reason.

iliimaster5092d ago

"Game looks kinda fun
But it isn't as good as Natal" you've seen natal?! lol all ive seen is a red ball being thrown at a wall.....

Nike5092d ago (Edited 5092d ago )

Microsoft's got Aaron Greenberg, and Sony's got this mook.

The balance has been restored.

@disagrees: Jesus, apparently it hasn't. o.O

drtanuyn5092d ago

i think keyserhitman is refering to the PS eye
not particularly the game itself.

i.e. the tech itself has the same functions, not anything new.(so far)

ExgamerLegends25092d ago

because you didnt read the article. He didnt call out Natal. The title is misleading.

8thnightvolley5092d ago

thou the pseye is using the same idiology as natal doesnt mean their efficiency is th same...

keyserhitman5092d ago

natal doing what it sez on its tin..
their effciency is the same

evilmonkey5015092d ago (Edited 5092d ago )

The ps3eye lacks infrared but has next to no lag, is only 30 dollars and its available for purchase right now.

how can you disagree with a fact? jeez.

8thnightvolley5092d ago (Edited 5092d ago )

u cant compare a finished product with one that isnt out yet, damn u lot are so quick to judge thou..let the gadamn thing come out first then if it doesnt do what it says on the tin then WALA!.. ps eye wins.. if it does exactly the same .. ps3 wins, if it does more then natal can right its own motion glory

but i do say that natal has alot to prove and if they dont it will a funny failure and would render 360 to a slow and painful death, but if they prove themselves with natal then i guess the so-called rebirth of the 360 might acutally happen..

Ares84PS35092d ago (Edited 5092d ago )

PSeye did do what Natal is trying for and even the EyeToy did that.

So why is Natal so huge now??? Marketing. MS is makeing it out to be the second comming.

keyserhitman5092d ago (Edited 5092d ago )

cant wait for e3 btw

EDIT @ NIKE

for consoles
Erherm..
they did do things first

got a 4yr that loves the demo and i was planning on buying this for him!

not 2flame but is this on Kinect? If not then why even make Kinect in the 1st place? This is the sort of game that needs made for camera games.. I love watching him play.. its funny

FunAndGun4805d ago

Yeah, the game is mad fun playing with friends just messing around. It is not AAA by any means, but it is a unique experience. You are not just the controller, you ARE the character!

PimpHandHappy4805d ago

not many games are AAA at that price range unless your talking used and even then its more like 20 for those... Its fun 4sure
