IGN: E3 2010: Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 Preview

IGN writes: "Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 is the most beautiful example of cell-shaded graphics I've ever seen. This is not hyperbole, and I have zero interest in Naruto. But I'm a firm believer in giving credit where it's due, and developer CyberConnect2 has managed to capture the feel of traditional 2D animation phenomenally well. The game looked so good, in fact, that it managed to hold my attention at last week's Namco Bandai pre-E3 event, despite the fact that there wasn't much of the game on display".

Idk why people complain about the simple button mashing. I honestly think it still takes some skills in this regardless of how the fighting is.

i dont know why people complain either this type of game is not meant to be complex like blazblue but more for a casual audience so everybody can enjoy it. The way IGN put it is like they were force to play the demo and like we're not a fan of Naruto it and blah blah blah.

MisterNiwa5092d ago

They dont get paid to play games, they get paid to hate games.

Blaze9295092d ago

exactly. He starts of saying, "and I have zero interest in Naruto." then get another editor who does have interest in it. Makes no sense how they operate sometimes. Watch they give it a bad score too just because they got someone who doesn't like the series reviewing it for what it isn't trying to be.

Dacapn5092d ago (Edited 5092d ago )

This isn't a game for people who don't care about Naruto. The game is made for and tailors to Naruto fans, so why is he writing this preview?

rockleex5092d ago

As the PS2 games.

Mainly because they don't offer enough movesets.

The game did also does not allow you to climb on trees and walls at will, like in the PS2 games, to dodge attacks.

I hope they bring the PS2 series on to the PS3 soon... or at least include the 2.5D mode on the next games. ^_^

it has a lot of depth in the gameplay and anyone who played the first one knows that skill comes into play also. Game looks great for fans of the manga/anime.

raWfodog5092d ago (Edited 5092d ago )

Anyone who played UNS1 knows that the game moves too fast to perform confusing button combinations. The single button attack worked very well in conjunction with the other buttons (defense, chakra).

I just hope they have decent exploration possibilites throughout Konoha village and the surrounding areas...

...and somebody needs to do the same for Bleach. Zaraki Kenpachi kicks ass!!!

snakebite365092d ago

I think they should make a One Piece version.

Jack-Pyro5092d ago

But I love Fighting Games <3...and this looks to be a doozy!

iMaim5092d ago

well, that was a rather shitty preview.
is this the fucking standard that ign is at?

drdre745092d ago

Man Im getting it no matter what. only thing that killed the first game was no online mode, I had no one to play with at home. I wish they'd get over the damn save Gara storyline. Every Naruto game I've played in the past year has been that story.

Five Awesome Anime Games

Japanese animation has come a long way, since the days of its niche appeal.

And nowhere is that more apparent, than in the way that gaming has embraced it.

FotNS was horrible between boss fights, but as a fan i endured

I regret buying Asuras Wrath. I should of consulted reviews of the game. Fist of the North Star however I was ok with. I wish there were more characters. I hope they do another one.

Hicken4362d ago

I loved Asura's Wrath. There was more story than I expected- and it wasn't poorly done, either- and the action and gameplay were very fun. Granted, it was a little too short, and Capcom stuck their hands into the development to make the real ending DLC, but that didn't stop me from enjoying every moment.

Something Out of the Norm? Boss Battles in Naruto Storm 2

Cameron C of VideoGameOlogists.com writes:

"So a few of us here seem to have boss fever, and I figured I’d just continue spreading it. When I hear “Boss Battles”, one of the first things I think of is Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 and its boss battles. For those who don’t know, Naruto Storm 2 is an anime fighting game for the Xbox 360 and PS3. It’s not quite as technical as more mainstream fighters, but it has it pluses (AND MANY MANY MINUSES)."
