1up has a one-on-one interview with Jack Tretton.

"1UP: Why didn't you show Grand Theft Auto IV at your press conference? Why was it not there?

Tretton: Well, Dave [Karraker, Senior Director of Corporate Communications at Sony Computer Entertainment America], do you want to answer that? Dave was in control of the content.

Karraker: You want the real answer?

1UP: Can you give me both answers?

Tretton: [laughs]

Karraker: I'll give you the real answer. They didn't send us their video.

1UP: So it's not anything like "well, the game's been shown on Xbox 360..."

Karraker: We requested it. We sent an e--mail out to every publisher and said send us your videos that you want put in the press conference, and they never sent it. Not much more you can say about that."

That does not sound too good..Anyone know what this means ?

Maybe not running as well? There's many possible reasons, but with GTA, a huge seller on PS2, it does seem a little strange.

Can you guys say if you're going after any exclusive content ala Microsoft's two episodic entries?

Tretton: We have some pretty good information in terms of what our plans are with Take-Two relative to GTA4, but I really want to make sure we get you all the exact facts, so we can get you something from Dave pretty shortly.

Tretton: We don't have a specific date yet. But please, rush out & buy a PS3 this holiday so I can keep my job !! I mean Moore is really socking it to me, exclusive after exclusive jumping ship, freakin' Madden @30fps ?!? Are you kidding me ?!? Bioshock, Mass Effect, & that friggin' Halo 3 ALL before Christmas ?!? I can't even get a damn video from Rockstar !! Everything's ALWAYS demoed on Xbox360 first .... (*sniff*)

Dave, could you please bring me Teddy Genji ...(*sigh*)

I don't know that interview was a bit uninteresting unfortunately. I think they all were tired of E3. Every other question was 'you should ask that other guy' and the one good comment he had going went on too long. Yes the ps2 sold well at 250 but that was way back when. Everything goes up in price.

I was actually impressed that Tretton didn't stick his foot in his mouth.

It is strange but I do notice that when 3rd parties put games on display or demo it, it is usually the 360 version.

Things are looking bad for Sony, indeed. And if they get any worse, other game companies are not going to help it.

Folks over at Newsweek’s Level Up have interviewees that predict game companies are not going to be helping out the PS3 with exclusive content, or even throwing them a bone at all.

“Already third party executives are telling me that if PS3 sales stay below 100k for 3 consecutive months, PS3 SKUs may start disappearing from release lists,” Geoff Keighly said in the blog. “In turn, this wil create a wealth of de-facto exclusives for the Xbox 360.”

No exclusive content for the PS3 and exclusive content for rival consoles would mean Sony’s baby would join the ranks of failed over-priced systems.

Are you blind? The only problems I see in the gaming community at the moment is X360's Holiday "Lineup" as some call it. I really don't see how 2 games can be considered a lineup, but whatever that's just me. Also, PS3 sales have been up by quite a bit lately, and with talk of a $499 80GB version and a rumored $399 40GB version MS might have a few more issues at hand.

Back to GTA4 here, PS3 uses the cell so maybe it wasn't completely ready at that time to show to the public. Oh ya, isn't there talk of extra PS3 content for GTA4, which didn't cost Sony $50M I might add.

that's a silly question. you see the demos on x36o because the x360 is the lead platform at the time.

seems to have been reading a better by PR book. Sometimes honesty is the best policy but he knows more than he's letting on naturally. Either way this guy is doing good for sony. I wish there were some younger presidents though
