NintendoLife: Fenimore Fillmore lives by the gun, namely Chekhov's Gun – the assertion that if in the first act you have hung a pistol on the wall, then in the following one it should be fired. In Fenimore Fillmore "The Westerner", this trope surely rings true, as most of the seemingly insignificant items you encounter serendipitously gain meaning and purpose later in the plot. IGN: Fenimore Fillmore: The Westerner Review

IGN writes: "If you plucked Guybrush Threepwood off of Monkey Island and plopped him down in the Old West instead, you'd end up with Fenimore Fillmore – a half-heroic, half-helpless cowboy who somehow manages to save the day, even while tripping over his own boots. He's a character who's starred in a handful of different point-and-click adventure games on the PC throughout the past 15 years, and now he's making his console debut. It's just not in an original adventure".
