Gears of War 3 Details Emerge

In the most recent issue of Game Informer magazine new information has been revealed about the third installment in the Gears of War series. We learned the first details about Gears 3 on the Jimmy Fallon Show which debuted the trailer back in April. So far we know that Dom has a beard, Anya fights with the boys, and Marcus has a new gun. But there's so much more.

No dev would ever do a two month beta. It would be too much of a good thing. The casual fans would be tired of the game 6 months before it's release. Maybe a 3 week beta could do the trick? I hope so.

And aside from the occasional match, the lag isnt so bad these days, as long as your host is in your region. DEFINITELY room for improvement, but I still have a blast playing.

No, the MAIN issue, which is lag, has never been fixed. Period. That's what they need to adress for GeOWIII

If they do, GeOWIII will be amongst the greatest games of all time imo. I loved Gears 1-2, but the lag really killed it for me online.

i have to agree here with maxcer, i stopped playing gears 4 months after it came out and now i blew off some dust and popped the game back in and works really well, there is the annoying lag and that is about the only killer in this game. but the game is much more different than before and its fixed IMO

No, Epic said that IF Gears of War 3 uses UNREAL ENGINE 4 then it will be on the next generation of consoles.

Gears of War 3 uses Unreal Engine 3.x, not Unreal Engine 4.x - hence why it is on the Xbox 360.

I though for a moment it could be the code and developer then I went to play MW2 on the same console, no problem, and then with Halo 3, NO PROBLEM, or L4D, no problem again. It must me my location and not for one moment the game.

more players in north america playing gears2 at any given time. Odds are you will be paired with a host that is in north america.

Unfortunately, this means that more EU players will be frustrated and stop playing, which means there is even LESS chance of EU players getting matched with EU hosts, etc etc... it is a rough cycle.

They seem to be looking to fix the online issues with dedicated servers in gears3 according to an article today

I played Gears of War 2 for the first time in a while yesterday, I had actually forgotten just how good the single player game is especially in co-op, haven't had the chance to play vs online though.

Looking forward to Gears of War 3 though.

I agree with other people here that Gears 3 needs a beta. It is vital they fix the multiplayer issues from Gears 2 which made it so hard to find a match. Though having said that, they need to keep the skill system and have players match up with other players of similar skill. I'd love the ability to jump in the game like Uncharted and I'd love if the environments were a lot bigger. It is good that enemies will now break cover more often but I also want more sophisticated A.I where Locust enemies try to flank and sneak up on the player. I love that in Uncharted where if you're out of ammo, the enemies will break your cover or sneak up on you and kick your ass. Basically, the game needs to be more challenging than past iterations on every difficulty level but in a fair and fun way.

looks like TU6 is in certification, Ranked/Custom status has now appeared on peoples friends list as apposed to Public/Private. it might just be a cosmetic thing but lets hope they are bringing back playermatches with connection bars. i know its along shot after all this time but lets see what the next few weeks have in store.
