E3 2010: Top 10 “Show Me The Gameplay” Games

"With E3 2010 almost here gamers everywhere will be hoping to hear new titles announced, along with new details on already announced upcoming games.

But what of those games previously announced where we have seen very little, if any, real gameplay footage, have few details on final retail release dates, or even know if they are really still coming? E3 sees studios and publishers (sometimes even those not at E3) provide new details of their upcoming games.

Here is my Top 10 list of games for E3 ’10 which I hope to see concrete in-game footage of to either prove they are still coming or to excite me for their future release. Some of these games are way overdue or just confirmed, while some are slotted in for the vague early 2011 release period.

What games do you need to see real in-game footage of at this E3 to get excited?"

Will Gran Turismo 5 probably be delayed again because of the 3D and motion controls they are trying to integrate??

I hope AC: Brotherhood is more than a missing AC2 multi they are making into a full game...

It's stupid to put GT5 on that list. Websites have been posting new GT5 realistic gameplay footage all the time.

Look, they could keep on delaying this game indefinately if they wanted to ad every new tech idea that came up.

Which is WHY the devl should simply produce the game to the followers and have done with it, then begin work on the following.

It's how 'normal' development studios work.

If each studio waited until a game was 'perfect' or allowed each one to have the 'latest big things' then we'd have no games on the table and they would be going broke fast.

The only reason Poly can afford to do this is that Sony are backing them, and it's already cost them in excess of $US60mill, NOT including any form of promotional efforts, which usually ads around $US4-10mil to a games overall cost factor.

That's $US70 mil for a game!!!!

ANd it still does not have a release date. 3D in a racing game will just NOT work, and if they are making the game with the "real-deal-3D', then they will have to scrap everything they have done thus far, and begin again.

The proper way to do 3D is extremely expensive, all other movies etc that have claimed to be 3D outside of Avatar have been done in Post production, and they just do not work as well as they should.

3d is the latest 'fad', but bot for games.

I want the game, but not in 3D or with Move thank you very much, just give us the bloody game already. Then goo nuts with a proper 3d if you must.

Sony might be waiting to release GT5 at a crucial time in order to move many consoles and take attention away from Microsoft's Halo Reach. It's not all about adding new features. It might be mostly a business decision.

Well thank god XboxOZ360 doesn't speak for every 1. I wont even argue with all that you wrote, will just wait and see if 3d doesn't work on a racing game.

after spending considerable time with the editor of Gizmodo re the 3D issue in gaming and movies, and seeing their technical specs and expert appraisals from none gamers and also developers, I can honestly see that 3D in gaming is a long way off before it's a core element.

Several of us sat around recently contemplating this very issue, compiling our thoughts and discussions with various high level devel heads. And almost all agree, that putting 3D "on top' of a game simply will not work as desired. Even the movies seen these days that are so-called 3D, are in fact, overlay semi-3D. Not real 3D.

The only movie to come out with proper 3D was and is Avatar, and the cost on that was - well, bloody huge.

Hey, I'd love to have a great game like GT5 in 3D, but in all honesty, I simply want to play it, and it's already approaching 6 yrs in development, and still no real firm season for delivery. The Devel was 'quoted as saying, some time in 2011 for "the rest of the world" but no date even for Japan.

Now come on, while the game is great, a developer MUST draw a line in the sand and say, here's where we stop, and here's where the next team take over.

Team A, complete this and do your best, Team B, start on the next iteration or DLC - NOW. And having seen what a dev cycle is, you can understand that methodology.

But that is NOT the methodology that Poly are using. He wants 'perfection', which in a real world, is unattainable, sadly.

Let's just have the game can we PLEASE Poly, it's been too long between bus-stops.

The game is appearing on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this iteration . . Cryteck said they'll not be doing single platform focused games, but supply the games built for each platform to broaden their market.

So you can rely on it appearing on the platform of your choice - finally.

I'm with TheBand1t, I would love to see Killzone 3 at E3. I'm not going to get my hopes up, but I loved Killzone 2 and I can't wait to see what Guerrilla do for part 3.

wow, I am kind of surprised people seem to just be looking forward to games that we know are coming out in the near future... and we have not reason to think other wise.

There are quite a few games I could think of but I am sure now they are just vaporware;

Wardevil
The Outsider
metronome ( I am sure I heard somewhere that it has been cancelled now )

I remember one game you played as a zombie. it was an sandbox game set in a city. you would change the people you came into contact with into different zombie types. I can't remember what it was called now... there were a few gameplay vids I think and then it was put on hold because they could not find a publisher.

It's a shame really, I think there were some really good ideas for great new Ip's when this gen started, sadly it's turned into nothing but milking, dumbed down re-hashes of old IP's or spamming us with FPS clones of cod or halo.

There have been a few outstanding titles;
MGS4, LBP, Dead Space, ME, uncharted, Red Faction G, Dead Rising etc. ( some of them are great not necessarily because they are great games but at least they did interesting stuff from a tech point of view )

Still maybe it's just me getting old and getting a bit jaded.

on the 360 side, Natal stuff...and of course Gears of War 3 to be shown and gameplay of new engine.

If all those happen then E3 2010 will be absolutely win for microsoft, and IMO couldn't care less about Nintendo or sony offerings..

I'd be surprised if Naughty Dog shows footage of an Uncharted 3, sales are still strong and dlc is doing well as well. They are more likely to announce an update to one of their other franchises.
