GoW 3 is a great game and i'm enjoying it alot! This is the first GoW game i've played, so i'm a little pissed that I didn't play the old ones. I encourage anyone with a Ps3 to get it! Even if you don't have one and are considering getting one, grab this game with it!

Some may think it's because of the gameplay change up, but like i've said in the past, FF games have been selling fewer and fewer units with each new release! Good sales for both console versions, but I hope some of the haters now realize why they went multiplat. I don't expect you to agree with it, just understand.

FF13 was panned, though, and the ME series, esp ME2 has got NOTHING but praise-I'm truly amazed the ME2 didn't sell as well as GOW3 in the states. Honestly, when you think that it would have outsold the first two GOW games on PS3 I think this is a little surprising.

Considering Nintendo has sold about twice as many consoles as Sony I can easily understand why Sony would want to brag about it's game being in 3rd place in sales behind 2 Wii games.

These sales numbers are only as of the end of March 2010, in other words its possible ME2 is at 1 mil by the end of April. So when the headline states "God of War 3 the Only Non-Nintendo Million Seller of 2010" (according to NPD) its not entirely accurate because the data the site used does not include April 2010 sales data, which of course will no doubt have GoW3 beyond 1.1m with its March+April sales and of course might show ME2 at 1m+ if it can achieve at least achieve 1.1k for April. It's very likely that could be the case Vgchartz currently has ME2 at 1.25m and GoW3 at 1.39m for US sales.

GOW3 is a great game and one of Sony's biggest IP's that many were waiting for, so I expected it to sell very well, compared to a wrpg which although sells well on 360 isn't its strength, actually if anything I'd expect a wider margin, but then again I take that back, since these are only 1 month sales for GoW3 and 360 benefits from the larger install base too. Still I think ME2 has done pretty well on the 360, its at about 1.72m WW and on track to easily outsell ME1's 2.2mil sold.

This is only NPD tho, so im sure there are ALOT of games that have sold over a million WW that are not nintendo games.

Also, to be honest with you. As much as GOW3 was hyped I am totally surprised that it has not sold 4-5 million yet. Especially with the shear number of PS3 that are out there. GOW is only owned by 7% of PS3 owners according to the number of units sold vs the number of PS3s sold.

And still they mean on a specific platform, Mass Effect 2 sold those numbers on 360 and PC together, imagine 360 alone. And the worst thing is some of you agree with the original poster. RPGs aren't really popular on the 360. Also, ME1 although being critically acclaimed, never really broke any sales record, so it isn't much of a shocker that ME2 didn't burn the charts....

GOW3 on the other hand was bound to sale well judging by the popularity of the previous games and hype associated. Also judging that PS3 has a smaller install base in NA compared to the 360, it's a great achievement.

I do think sales matter for good games, but my comment is for all those people who downplay sales every time it is used in defense of a 360 game, and you know what I'm talking about.

I am going to compare the two games because Halo is the most hyped 360 game and GOW3 is arguable the most popular and most hyped PS3 game (maybe besides GT5).

The difference in hype, marketing, and accessibility between the 2 games hardly accounts for the overall differences in sales for the two games. I saw plenty of marking and hype by Sony for GOW3, The fact is, the two games are the arguably the most popular games for their respective consoles making their sales very comparable, especially when they are both great games.

Edit: MW2 is obviously NOT for kids either, but that didn't stop it from selling millions. I guess I disagree that the target audience really has that much of an effect. All that hype for GOW3 was seen by everyone including 12 years old and older.
