Campaign to bring BBC iPlayer to Xbox Live

Why should Wii and PS3 owners have all the fun?

Isn't it a little unfair that Xbox owners are denied BBC iPlayer on their consoles while Wii and PS3 owners have been enjoying it for months?

We think so, so we're kicking off a campaign to bring iPlayer to Xbox Live Silver.

TechRadar has spoken to a source close to the iPlayer team, who tells us that while both the BBC and Microsoft were enthusiastic to put iPlayer on the Xbox the timing was the issue. "Microsoft's road map was long, BBC wanted to move quickly," our source told us. "So they parted company."

want iplayer onxbox but i've got it on my comp and my tv so who cares lol

gusto5125d ago

Isn't as nice as watching it on a big TV screen from the couch, though.

dangert125125d ago

got virgin media box top t has tv on demand =/

zoydwheeler5125d ago

Some people might NOT have that.

Has your brain considered that other people exist in the world that might benefit from things like this? Or does it only consider what is immediately beneficial to you?

From your first few posts here I would hazard a guess at the latter...

dangert125125d ago (Edited 5125d ago )

no not really my 1st comment starts with 'i' and ends in so who cares aslong as ms give me good games i'll be happy i did't by an xbox 2 watch catch up tv

you need a better deal on your tv m8 if you can't watch catch up comfartabley without a console your lacking lol

Double Toasted5125d ago

I'm sure MS is working on something. I wish they'd hurry up though, I've been waiting to use my 360 as a DVR since '06.

The Wood5125d ago

playstation runs better than those frikin virgin media boxes....always jaming up EVEN the legit ones but hooking ur pc via hdmi up is still an option but just not as simple as using ur console. I think there was an issue about MS charging and bbc see that as some kind of no no.....I mean adding a free service to a paid services and making its consumers feel like ur doing them a favor....that couldn't happen could it???

Wrathman5125d ago

lol.r u serious?i could understand that if it was on the american xboxes.but in the uk we already pay for the bbc.in the shape of a license fee.which is in the region of £135 per year.they wont be charging for the iplayer here!wouldnt watch it on my xbox anyways.too noisey.thats wot i use my ps3 for.gimme an iplayer on my xbox and i wouldnt have a reason to turn it on.

mcnablejr5125d ago

i dont watch the one on my ps3, it jams up, loads slowly etc.

i can see myself watching it on my 360..

different minds i guess.

The Wood5125d ago (Edited 5125d ago )

what about grilling pork like ur icon suggest

¬_¬

mcnablejr5125d ago

i love the way that people can actually see what that is..

My ps3 is generally hotter than my 360. and is less reliable.

its all down to luck i guess.

zoydwheeler5125d ago

Pretty much everyone else with an Xbox 360, lol. You F*ckwit.

jamiemid5125d ago

Sounds easy to do - and would help both companies too.... would this mean I could listen to Radio 4 while playing Call of Duty? A nice juxtaposition there methinks...

jedthehumanoid5125d ago

This should have been sorted ages ago - hope it doesn't take too much longer

kharma455125d ago

Until Microsoft want to keep it for Gold users only BBC won't allow it on.

8thnightvolley5125d ago

it should be free just like bbc said.. its an already paid service by the tax payers in the uk so silver members should have access to it.. thats just the hickup and MS wants to just use to to colour its gold membership.. bit selfish to be honest.

robertjamespaul5125d ago

Really good on Wii - hope it comes to the Xbox as it will no doubt be better quality. COME ON BBC

Why Is No One Making AAA Horror Games Anymore?

Saif from eXputer inquires, "Despite the everlasting popularity of the genre, why hasn't there been a good AAA horror game in a while now?"

Jin_Sakai1d 22h ago

Because the gaming industry is obsessed with live service games.

Cacabunga1d 10h ago

Even FPS are rare nowadays

Rynxie1d 8h ago

Because he touches himself at night to characters like lady Dimitrescu.

Crows901d 5h ago

You're the one still thinking about her

Rynxie1d 5h ago

@crow

Did I give away your secret? It's okay, if you sit on your hand and numb it, you can pretend it's her playing with your little stick.

MaximusPrime_1d 21h ago

Good for me, I have no interests in horror games

-Foxtrot1d 12h ago

Even when they do it's first person trying to copy Outlast, Five Nights, P.T etc

I think the Dead Space / RE2 / RE4 Remake and the Evil Within 2 showed you can have a good story based, third person survival horror game.

jeromeface1d 9h ago

remakes is another good reason

thesoftware7301d 9h ago

Calisto Protocol was also fun with fantastic presentation.

FinalFantasyFanatic1d 1h ago

I feel like we haven't had much in the way of horror games for years, I think it became rare after the PS2/PS3 gen. Maybe i'll pick up that Crow Country that recently came out, that looks good.

Venoxn4g23h ago

Crow Country needs some more love.. and more exposure

Redemption-641d 10h ago

Because outside of a fee games, most don't sell that well

Crows901d 5h ago

So in other words...AAA publishers don't have creativity or passion for games.

CrimsonWing691d 10h ago

Didn’t we have Dead Space Remake and Resident Evil 4 Remake last year?

thorstein1d 10h ago (Edited 1d 10h ago )

Among others

And isn't Dying Light 2 a horror game?

Scissorman1d 10h ago

And Alan Wake 2 and Alone in the Dark.

on_line_forever17h ago

I like Alone in the dark but it's not AAA game

richardmmorales1d 1h ago

We also had The Quarry and The Dark Pictures The Devil In Me.

New and improved ASUS ROG Ally X battery life is just what it needs to compete with the Steam Deck

Yet another leak for the ASUS ROG Ally X points towards as much as 8 hours of battery, but how does that compare to the competition?

Vits4d ago

Honestly, I really like this updated version. But it doesn't solve the biggest flaw that the original had for me: the Z1 Extreme APU. Yes, it's an extremely powerful part, but it is not part of AMD's Adrenalin driver update program, so it's dependent on Asus for driver updates. And unfortunately, Asus doesn't have a stellar record of support for their devices.

Goodguy014d ago

Up to 8 hours basically just means the least demanding games. AAA gaming at highest wattage would probably be about 2-3 hours which is good compared to just about 1 hour with the current ally. The OLED Deck can do about 2-3hrs.

mrcatastropheAF1d 16h ago

With much less performance so that makes sense.

The Steamdeck shines at the lower TDP end but gets absolutely mopped at the high end.

Similar longevity with much better performance is a big win for the Ally X

Killa782d ago

Too bad Asus are all awful company.

PRIMORDUS2d ago

They used to be the best when it comes to motherboards, now I will never buy anything from them again.

Firebird3602d ago

8 hrs yea right. Running tetris?

Skuletor2d ago

Only after setting the screen brightness to the lowest level, of course.

Notellin1d 17h ago

They tested the battery life watching a game of Tetris in 360p. Running Tetris natively brought the number down slightly to 1 hour and 38 minutes. 😂

Asuka2d ago

Nope. The only improvements I want to hear is better customer support. Otherwise, I can't be bothered.
