Awesome another Perfect Score for a perfect game Day 1 purchase.

Rhythmattic5117d ago (Edited 5117d ago )

Am I missing something?

Achievement 4 out of 5
Tutorial 4 out of 5
Lifetime 4 out of 5

The heading ...... 5 out of 5 ?

frankymv5117d ago

Seems like the European sites enjoyed this game more than the american sites.

PeptoBismol5117d ago

no, they are just cheaper to pay off.

Simon_Brezhnev5117d ago

i know ima get disagrees but i had 2 laugh at what u just said lmao.

Traveler5117d ago

Hahaha, if anybody really thinks that, they are morons.

Many games see similar kinds of scores. Uncharted Drake's Fortune, one of my favorite games of all time, is one that springs to mind.

Ghoul5117d ago (Edited 5117d ago )

well if you look at the history of movie taste and critics from europe compared to usa, you will very fastly see a difference.

i wont say america is more fond of testosterone roughnecks with tough voices and catchy lines. but its true...

anyway, alanwake is a game you should try for yourself, all those reviews only point into one direction. It`s a game that splits opinions, therfore you just cant break it down to a percentage score.

i love the story sofar, the book will be one of the first game books i will ever touch (normally its just to nerdy), and i totally dig the twin peaks style of presentation.

I agree with everything you said mostly, except:

"It`s a game that splits opinions"

Actually most of the reviews are NOT split, yes there are a few scores below 8 but the vast majority are actually above 8 and almost every site gives a value of 8 or more to a game that is really good= the site recommends you should play it. A "split" normally means alot of high and low scores, or sort of mix bag of all sorts of scores from very low all the way to very high. Also even the few reviews which scored it lower than average, they generally thought it was a good game but were dissapointed with 1 or 2 aspects that hurt the overall games experience but even then they still really liked the game.

Ghoul5117d ago

4show thatnks for the comment but i made a mistake while writing.

"It`s a game that splits opinions"

i didnt meant mixed opinion in case if its good of not, high or low scores. It IS good no discussion here, i cant wait to get my hands on it tomorrow.

What i meant though is a split opinion if the game is a blockbuster or not. For me personaly its too much mumbo jumbo at the moment (means to many people rubbing theyre crystal balls and mixing voodoo drinks).

People are way to much on the fence dicussing the quality of the game, personaly i think this situation is totally immature. Im gaming for 25 years now and never experience such a situation where "gamers" have nothing better to do than to pick a side (there are none btw) and defend it to the bone.

one example to the fanboys that might get you thinking.

Would you ever go so far and say i only watch warner brothers movies ???

if you want to be agamer with at least a bit maturity, play alan wake for youre own (im not saying buy all consoles some cant afford it)
but at least get to your rent store get a 360 unit and to play it, best of course would be if you buy it. Remedy deserves it.

Traveler5117d ago (Edited 5117d ago )

Ghoul, great post. I wish there were more gamers like you around here. Alan Wake has definitely piqued my interest. Well actually more than that; I am very much looking forward to playing it. And yes, I will buy it. I think a good single player game should be rewarded with a purchase. Not every game needs to have multiplayer.

4Sh0w5117d ago

Agreed, Ghoul I understand what you mean now.

Traveler you're right we definitely need more gamers around here and yes not every game needs a multiplayer.

lowcarb5117d ago

Great score and hopefully my experience with it will be the same as jeux.

GiantEnemyCrab5117d ago

Yup, really striking a cord with the international community. Interesting.. I'm enjoying the hell out of it.

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

gigoran827d ago

wait, that place is real? national lampoon wasn't kidding?

Tacoboto26d ago

I just bought two of the MonsterVerse Godzilla movies on 4K - both had digital copies expiring in 2023. Both were actually expired.

I'd be surprised but it's WB, of course they'd actually expire them

Knightofelemia27d ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Chocoburger27d ago

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie26d ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

Profchaos27d ago

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie26d ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

Asplundh26d ago

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.

A thermos is upending the Alan Wake community

Remedy has Alan Wake merch on sale, including a pretty blue thermos. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan, and many players who want a thermos find themselves without one, though it does appear that Remedy is attempting to fix things. Nevertheless, it has resulted in a lot of upset, illustrating just how much the thermos means to Alan Wake fans.
