Edge's Super Mario Galaxy 2 review - 10/10

Not your eyes that are deceiving you its Edge. Honestly I'm sure this is a good game but not a 10 come on. Just look at the videos for it looks like the same Mario since 64. IDK I just hate milking and love me some innovation.

Honestly, I loved it. It was so fun and such visual stunner for little white system that could. The sequel looks even better. Still, Edge is usually as tight fisted with a perfect score as they come.

The best mario game is Super Mario Sunshine XD It had a better setting and story going on than any other mario game and was just sooooo much fun!! This will be a great game too though I'm sure :D

Sunshine was ok but it was probably the most forgettable Mario game that's come out since Mario 64, it was easier too. All of the shortcuts in Mario 64 were there, but they were even easier to do because of the water pump. Everything was a side-backflip + wall jump + water pump away.

Mario Galaxy's level design was brilliant since you couldn't do that and made your mind think of different perspectives on how to play. Not many games force you to play upside down with gravity while going the opposite way. I can't wait for 2.

I have very very high hopes for Zelda Wii... I think with the 1:1 motion controls it can be a genre-redefining game, like Ocarina of Time was in its time. Twilight Princess was such a disappointment :(

edge gave a 10 to bayonetta and that game wasn't that incredible. more like an 8 to me... graphics were horrible and particulary glitchy on PS3 so a 7 is more like it.

i'm not doubting miyamoto (or whoever made this game), just edge...

to be fair, NSMBWii is just a remake of the DS version plus 3 more players! do you expect everyone to give it a 10? if a rehashed games + some extra features starts to spark 10 all over the place, you can say goodbye to good new games, and welcome to Marios and CoDs!

Well the proof isn't in the score, it's in the review. And one of the most brutally scoring reviewer throws around comments like "a game that refuses to bore you"? The best minds at nintendo are thrown at mario so it really isn't surprising to hear it's really good.

I originally only preordered this from amazon cause it was such a good deal but it looks like it'll be worth far more than I expected.

Games like these make me bitter that I don't ever have an urge to turn on my Wii. Every once in awhile the Wii has something really good but it still just sits there. At this point it's pretty much a Netflix device for out bedroom.

They are the kings of platforming. Like most Nintendo games, I bet I will still be playing this 10 to 20 years down the line. So why wouldn't that deserve a 10? The first one "redefined" this one "refines" the genre. :)

Super Mario Galaxy 2 does look more, "complete"(Yoshi with a better co-op mode added).Considering that the old got a "9.7"(IGN rating), it's only fair to assume that the sequel would do better.

I never finished the first Galaxy game. I sold my Wii then bought another one cheap and another copy of the game, but haven't even played it :( I have this preordered though. This may sound lame, but I feel games need trophies to be worthwhile, which is why I haven't played my Wii in ages. I've put over 80 hours into Just Cause 2 though! I will get this game, play it a few days, then go back to PS3 again. It's a cycle. Trophies (or achievements) are addicting.

The original Mario Galaxy is my favorite game of all time. Looks great, plays great, they always keep the gameplay fresh so it doesn't feel like you're doing the same thing over and over. The 2D parts are really fun, especially the levels where the gravity keeps switching in the 4 directions. If Galaxy 2 is anything like the first one, it deserves a 10/10 in my opinion. If you hate it, that's fine I respect that... but don't knock it before you try it. Galaxy is AMAZING!!!

To be honest, Mario has a better chance because it's playable by anyone, family friendly, easy to get into, and probably has better gameplay than a lot of other titles. First of all, RDR has yet to be described as GOTY material in any preview I've ever read. The only people saying so are the fans, which I don't understand because it's not even out yet. As for MG:PW, a portable game has never been GOTY as far as I know and that's extremely unlikely to change. ME2 could be considered best RPG, but not GOTY overall. Halo, probably not. As for GT5, have they ever won GOTY? I'm not sure, however racing games are popular but popularity and good graphics/physics don't make for a GOTY. GOTY would probably go to a game with a storyline and good writing.

Overall, I think Galaxy 2 has a shot, but only because it combines a lot of the criteria people look for in a GOTY.

Admit. I loved the first game, but I felt it fell a smidgen short on surpassing Mario 64. But This one looks like a more spiritual sequel to 64 than the first Galaxy. While I thougt I had my fill of 3-d Mario for the gen, I was very wrong.

I'm looking VERY forward to playing this game. It looks like it takes what Galaxy did and pushes it much further. I've seen gameplay vids that actually make me thnk that the Nintendo devs are trying to bring the qualities that makes 2-d Mario games so appealing, and not letting that essense get lost on its transitiion to 3-d.

I don't like the Wii as a console and I think a lot of the games are nothing more than rubbish but I have to take my hat off to Nintendo. Literally, I was actually wearing a hat and I've just taken it off right there. Most games Nintendo make themselves are brilliant. They're a really talented and intelligent game developer no doubt. Galaxies 1 and both Smash Bros games got great critical acclaim also and no one can do platform games like Nintendo. I don't own a Wii but it is these games that will make me buy one. Here's hoping the next Zelda will be as good.

Normally N4G is overflowing with PS3 and 360 fanboys, with most articles having stupid, purely arrogant arguments in their comment sections. It's funny to see these people's reaction to a review score like this. I don't see any problem with it. The original Super Mario Galaxy, as most probably don't remember, was considered GOTY by many websites, including GameSpot, and had several 10 scores. Apparently, Galaxy 2 followed those footsteps, so I don't see any reason at all for it not deserving this score. Just because it's a Nintendo game, it can't get a 10? Wii game or not, series like Mario have never been let down. Leaving all the jokes about the system aside, it has its fair share of good titles, and it's sad to see how people just ridicule it all, with premature conclusions. (note that the game isn't released yet, so nobody here played it). I'm 100% sure that this score was given due to the quality of the game. There is no other reasonable explanation. At least not one here in this page.
