No one can say that Killzone looks crap!

Although the graphics don't quite match that of the infamous E3'05 trailer, all that matter's is that it's pretty dam close, and at the moment, the most prettiest FPS under Crysis!

There's one issue for me that I hope Sony get right this time.

Although the original Killzone was pretty at the time, it played like Sh&t!

They need to provide a graphical experience with a fantasic gameplay experience as well. Without one, the other won't work in the case of Killzone.

If they get that right, they have a game that could easily match Halo in the future!

Sony....you've redemned yourself after last years lackluster year! Congratulations!

on different sites trying to find an HD version, I notice something is wrong with the center guys mouth. Something about it is just wrong and his knee gets lost in his arm and looks like flat paper. The mediocre explosion/fire following the falling ship, not impressed, not anything from the CGI trailer in 05. Yeah its action packed, will be fun no doubt, but nowhere near the E3 2005 CGI trailer. I am sure when the game is done in 2008 or 09 it will have gotten better. Just my 2 cents.

This game looks awesome graphically!!!! I will say for all the sony fanboys that I think COD4 is pretty close though... but the gameplay action, the environment, & the character detail does look significantly better in Killzone 2. This looks like a definite gem and I'll look forward to owning it!

Even more impressive is the fact that the game is still in it's alpha stages.

graphically it looks almost as good as gears of war. almost. sony fans : dont be surprised if what you get is nothing like what this video showed. Sony is very clever at making good trailers by editing cutscene sections into gameplay sequences. "smoke and mirrors". again?

a couple of things that i noticed, if this game is supposed to be realistic why is it that if they are flying through the air at around 200mph they behave like if they are inside a room, why didnt the soldier's cap fly off? or the other soldiers shades? and then they are talking to the other team without really raising their voices, doesnt the wind make noice? little touches like that help to complete the correct "psychology" of a game and this game just ends up looking cheesy.

And i'll say it again: Gears still looks better, the only thing that looks better graphically in this game is the player's weapon. Not in design but in detail.

This game is actually looking pretty good! I am impressed given all the other games out for the system seem somewhat sub-par compared to the 360 or PC versions.

Hopefully this is the turning point for the PS3 the Sony fans have been waiting for.

If this is the most amazing game you've seen, you need to check out Crysis, as that is significantly better looking than this. Don't get me wrong it looks good, but its not exactly mind blowing, and in my opinion is still a good distance away from the "we promise this CG trailer is in game, no really its in game, honestly... even though its not" trailer.

I can see why people have said its not a massive improvement over Gears, its not exactly a massive leap ahead in terms of graphics...

The trailer again doesn't show too much clarity, its all a bit blurry. I'll wait till I see it in HD to see if its nice and crisp. Oh and it is all a bit "grey".

after watching the Halo 3 trailer, i have to say that, visually, this game looks better than that also.

strangely enough, i didn't *LIKE Killzone on the PS2. i thought it had wonderful potential, but the hardware just wasn't capable enough (at the time), to fit their vision.

this time around, however, i think the PS3 and their design document is a perfect match.

Gears, Halo, and Killzone are all testaments to the power of their respective systems.

if i owned a 360, i'd be proud to.

i happen to own a PS3, and i'm certainly proud to own it. i did before, and i especially do now.

bring on Ratchet, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Lair, MGS4, and Killzone, and i'm set for a while.

are they competing to be in last place or something. Killzone looks like it's coming along but it's not the best out there. M$ has taken a lot of Sony's exclusives and really putting a lot of money into the Xbox for the gamers. The lineup for just this year was amazing for the Xbox and I am sure there will be a few good games coming to the PS3 but the PS3 is nowhere near winning this war yet if ever. If anything, they will all be on a level playing field in their own ways and all be in our entertainment centers someday. Try not being such a fanboy.

Not quite on par with the original trailer but still looks good, lots of detail and the screen appears to be very busy alot of the time which is very impressive. The lightening effects that streak the sky are also very cool.

Looking forward to seeing where this goes, it does look better than most games at present visually but it is not the leap many are claiming.

I would say that come 2010 the 360 and the PS3 will both be churning out titles that vastly outperform this.

Once again, the Sony games shine in the classic department of effects (weather, look at the way people breathe up in the clouds) and lighting. This has been true since the old Playstation days, they just do great lighting and particle effects.

A lot of people will be saying how so and so shooter looked better... While it might be true in regards to texture on someone's clothes, it is definitely not true in other regards.

well on analysis with the trailer here is what i noted. The very 1st explosiin at the instant it exploded the flames sucked but as they crashed the flames looked excellent. I need to see it on my ps3 to really take proper note of the lighting. The blood effects in this game are excellent and i love the shooting over cover technique. The animation system is stellar and its hard to match the amount of stuff going on screen at a time. I am 100% satisfied with this trailer and the thought that it will only look better after this and also in hd makes me proud to own a ps3.

Halo will be great. This game looks great, hopefully it will play great and if so, it'll be one of the top FPS for any console.

I think Killzone 2 deliever on it's lofty expectations, but lets not get carried away. There still a long ways to go, which includes awesome gameplay, crazy multiplayer with little to no lag, and only then will it be rated better than Gears of War or Halo. So far it's got part 1 of the recipe, but it still needs a lot more.

I own a 360 and a ps3, no bias at all, I have to say that the character animations are just incredible. I love gears, and I'm not even going to say this looks better than gears graphically, but the cinematic value in the fighting is indeed superior. I know I'll probably lose a bubble for that, but whatever. Just look at the enemies being hit with bullets, they react as if they're being hit with bullets. The deaths from explosions aren't just ragdoll physics tossing a dude 50 feet away, they characters actually react as if they're holding on to dear life. It's really cool.

haha, just give credit where credit is due. This is good work from a studio who hasn't done much to impress in the past. Improvement is never a bad thing.

The game does not look as sharp as Gears. If you were to look at screen shots alone I'd say Gears looks better. But the animation is just out of this world. Head and shoulders above any shooter I have ever seen. Not to mention the utter chaos happening on screen at once.

Xbox 360 owner here.. all you little kids that are saying it looks bad don't need to lie, it looks good. The opening scene looked kind of mediocre but once they landed I was very impressed by the graphics and subtle effects. I am skeptical how it can look this good when Killzone 1 was such a sloppy mess, there wasn't a hitch in the frame rate or a single jaggie that I noticed. It's definitely not better looking than GoW but I like the art style better.

they should do a side by side comparison of the original cg trailer and this one. I think the game comes really close. The only dissapointing thing that struck as way off was the fire. But all in all guerilla really did come thru. Glad to see xbox bashing of the game is minimal. Leads me to believe they are hiding in fear or just offering respect. I loved the gameplay parts, not so much the opening sequence. It looks great, but as others have already pointed out, nowhere near the target video. Still, better than I expected, especially after that awfully mediocre screenshot.

The lighting in some parts almost match the '05 trailer, the animations look fluid, and there are a lot of things happening at once. I also liked the effects of the blood and the damage on environments and how enemies react when you shoot them.

What I noticed that differed from the '05 trailer are the fire and smoke effects, the lighting on clothes and armor, and the lighting on the ground and the distant environment. Since it's noted as pre-alpha, I'll take it they will improve many more things.

Ok I always try not to be bias, I have seen the Halo3 trailer, the call of duty 4 trailer....etc etc

This is difficult but I actually said some time ago that the Xbox-360 does graphics better than the PS3 which I still believe, but I also said that PS3 will do better physics due the the processor and this would often look more impresive even though the textures are poor (which they are), Xbox-360 will always have better textures/bump mapping, PS3 will have better physics.

Personally the best graphics at E3 so far goes to PGR4.

I am a little underwhelmed by Halo3 and Killzone 2 (I don't let hype cloud my judgment). Do I think Killzone 2 and Halo3 will be great games (yes), but graphins wise they could be better. Gears of War does have the better textures, Killzone 2 has more going on, comparing Halo 3 to either of the two is hard because of the art direction but Gears and Killzone both have there good and bad points.

Bottom line is you could buy a PS3 or a Xbox-360 and be perfectly happy. I am sticking with Xbox-360 and possibly will buy a PS3 once the price is acceptable and the games are availble which is some time off.

The reviews will tell the ultimate tale.

This looks incredible, from what I can see in this trailer vidual it has far more detail, action and atompshere than Gears of War and yes I owned and completed it (in 2 days on medium defficulty - it was my 1st fps).

I'm only doing a comparison because there has to be a benchmark and visually for consoles it has to be GoW. If they can have more than 4 v 4 mulitplayer with this game (like Resistance: Fall of Man) it could be a real trimuph. I hated spending 2 minutes looking for an opponent on GoW only to be chainsawed by someone hiding round a corner or for lag to set in, sorry, losing the subject matter a bit here, my bad. I'm still bitter my 360 died I admit but only because I liked it so much (Crackdown is still the best game I've ever played).

Finally, a game using the PS3's strengths, not it's weaknesses. Advanced animations, post processing effects like motion blur, what looks to be almost global radiosity lighting, nice fragment programs... these are things the PS3 can do in spades. Yes, the texture detail isn't quite close to the level of Gears of War, but the PS3 is not a texture monster, that's one of the 360's fortes. While Gears does a good job showing off what a focused 360 game can accomplish, it looks to me like this game is going to show what a focused PS3 game can do. Which game is greater? We won't know that till it's in our hands. Until then, let's cool off on the moronic comparisons. And by the way, if you say this game looks like skite or bad in some way, you may need to remove the fan-vision specs, kids.

The only reason it would take up so much space is because of uncompressed data, that's it. Uncompressed audio can take up A LOT of space, but will not deliver much superiority in quality, the difference is quite small. Uncompressed textures can also take up a huge amonut of space, but will HAVE to be compressed in memory anyway as the PS3 only has 256MB of video RAM, you can't have more than that amount in memory at any one time. So even if a scene contains 2GB of textures, only 256MB worth may be displayed at a time, meaning they'll have to be compressed. Nothing I've seen so far about this game shows a need for a storage medium larger than a DVD.

First time I saw it, I thought only when the gun came up was it in-game, but according to IGN, the entire thing was gameplay!

I was impressed by what I saw later in the sequence, but now knowing that the beginning was ALSO in-game...I have to say..I'm amazed they came as close to their '05 pre-rendered trailer as they did.

Graphics aren't everything boys, it may have the most annoying gameplay going, we just don't know yet.

I was quite impressed by the character models although they obviously need some tuning, my main concern however is the textures.

I really enjoy the graphics in this trailer, but everything somehow seems too...shallow? I dont know if this is the correct word Im looking for but If I had a ps3 I would rent it to show of the power of the ps3 and have some fun. I completely agree with you that COD4 looked absolutely amazing...but KZ2 showed A LOT more action...They showed a glimpse of the rumored to be untouchable hit detection towards the end of the trailer also...

While the fire in KZ2 definitely needed some work, if it is true that this is still a alpha build or whatever (I have never seen that officially announced), that can be fixed...Lair had the exact same problem...the fire was horrid for a while, and the current build looks very impressive fire wise...

as far as COD4...we have seen some game footage where lots was going on, but that was also from the alpha version according to the disclaimer...KZ2 showed off more lighting and environment effects so far (COD4 had a couple explosions...and mostly night vision'd skirmishing...the yesterday they showed off some slower stealth gameplay, that also looked really good)...

I agree that KZ2 needs a little more polishing before release...but the game definitely delivered close to the trailer...there were some framerate hiccups hear and there (at least that helps show that it was finally real)...the lighting looked as impressive as anything I have ever seen...the pillars crumbling and the hit detection on enemies all have me extremely impressed so far...

Sorry buddy, but you don't have a clue. KZ 2 smashes COD4 in animations, polygon count and detail. It's technically better, you think COD4 is better only cause of it's art direction as it uses more photorealistic textures. KZ2 doesn't intend to look photorealistic and that's good, Crysis is already the photorealistic top notch title that I will get.

It looks very good but some stuff concern me a bit. How come there are no meters at all and no crosshair for the rifle when the supposed ingame scenes are shown? The weapon sways in a way that tells me it's staged gameplay. Probably using the ingame engine, but something tells me it's not footage of actual gameplay. It doesn't need to benchmarked against Gears, or Halo, just needs to be benchmarked against the E3 05 trailer, and I think it does pretty damn well. wow the Sony fanboy reaction is totally off the charts. My reaction, the art style, animation and the camera comes close enough to the 2005 trailer. But the textures and shader effects(contrary to hype Gears totally blows Killzone in shader department) are not good but because of the former three if the gameplay is executed well its going to be ton of fun.

I think we are in better standing, just a little bit, of judging this game since the first screen shot was released. Look closely at the graphics, and you'll see this game is packing a lot more technology than gears of war. IGN says the lighting is pre-canned but none of it is. Guerrilla has been working with a company that specializes in lighting systems for this game. When IGN says this lighting is the most impressive, they mean most impressive. Texture detail looks really good even for such an early build, and the animations for the characters, in my opinion, are superior to the animations seen in the original trailer. The vehicle is very nicely balanced, and notice how it doesn't just feel like the thing floats down from the sky on a wire and sets on the ground? Those are cutting edge physics underway. Facial detail is remarkable, and the amount of stuff going on in the screen is phenomenal. How about the wind that curls around the drop ship while they are flying close to another? The blood effects (hahah) blow Gears of War away, and shadows and AI look to break new ground. This isn't even a finished game, people. Remember when Too Human was first shown off at E3 and notice how they've kept working on it and it looks better now than it did when they scooped up their code and wrote a demo. This is the beginning, and I am very excited and pumped now about the new pace for the Sony Brand, returning to the roots of what gaming is all about: Quality experiences.

a couple of things that i noticed, if this game is supposed to be realistic why is it that if they are flying through the air at around 200mph they behave like if they are inside a room, why didnt the soldier's cap fly off? or the other soldiers shades? and then they are talking to the other team without really raising their voices, doesnt the wind make noice? little touches like that help to complete the correct "psychology" of a game and this game just ends up looking cheesy.

And i'll say it again: Gears still looks better, the only thing that looks better graphically in this game is the player's weapon. Not in design but in detail.

Halo and Killzone 2, a marriage made in hell.

Killzone 2 is gritty, drops you right in the slum of an alien industrialized wasteland, and lets you watch your friends go up in a horrific bubbling firey drop-shop explosion. Halo 3 drops you gracefully into a lush alien world that teems with light. Killzone 2 takes out the lights when you least expect it, whereas Halo 3 glints with shine, and leaves few shadows in which to hide. The alien race in Halo 3 is purposefully much different from the human race. Helghast soldiers look like Nazis, and behave much less jumpy than in the XBOX 360 flagship title. Killzone is about bloodied hands and a planet stripped of innocence. Halo 3 is about the same thing, but put a lot more lightly. Halo 3 fills the world with more purple than any first person shooter I have ever seen (I love Halo, but you must admit, there is a lot of purple in this game). Killzone stays earthly with their selection of colors. In reference to movies. Killzone is more like Dark City or The Crow in visual style, and Halo is like Transformers, A Bugs Life, or Small soldiers in visual style.

Don't get me wrong...I have always loved playing online Halo (and offline multiplayer for that matter), but I have never once cared for the single player story and game...I have said it before...I absolutely hate those giggling goofy little idiot alien things that just jump around and take pot shots at you...it seems silly, and made me feel like the story centered around an elite fighter...going up against...a bunch of short idiots...

I have played through both 1 and 2 entirely more than one time...I haven't played Halo 2 single player for a few years...and I do remember "the swarm" or whatever the infected beings were (that portion of the game was very dark, creepy, and violent...right up my alley)...but the rest, although beautiful at the time scenery wise...never felt like you were part of a hopeless last attempt to gain control...

I am not trying to compare the two games either...there is no doubt that Halo 3 will be one of the best games this year...and KZ2 will have an extremely hard time even being mentioned in the same sentence, online wise...They are going to have to come up with some extremely new fps online ideas for this game to really get peoples attention...but its a matter of taste...I always prefered Halo's gampelay...never its visual style and art direction...I love Gears gritty run down art direction, but much prefer a standard FPS gameplay wise...imo KZ2 does exactly what I want for this type of video game...that doesn't make it better than others overall...it just makes it exactly what I want to play personally...

I'm glad they finally showed some in-game to give us an idea of what we should expect, but It just makes me want to see a more polished version of the game now though. The textures on the ship looked weird to me they didn't look hi-res and seems blurry, and that whole Arm inside my knee thing caught my eye too. The characters do need some tuning, I also noticed that the shadows of one of the helgast he shoots is still boxy. Some of the gameplay shots looked absolutely amazing though. The destructible environments looked good as well. I wont make my judgement on this video though considering It's in pre-alpha, I'll wait for more developed video to be released.

And as we all remember the last killzone was not very playable. All you sony folks are so blown away by this video. The way I see it is the ps3 shouts about all it's brute power for that hefty price but I just don't c it.
I do have a serious question for a ps3 owner and that is... can you pause a game you are playing and bring up your music library to play songs along with the game? When I had the chance to play on one I did not have time to check that option.

The video is all in game, using the exact same engine. The new update will have the option to bring up your music library, of course. this was what I was expecting so it just about met my expectations. Even though its mostly just shiny black, white and gray. It's war. Lots of destruction and therefore lots of dust from concrete so that's understandable. Hopefully graphics continue along the gradient that I've set for myself. So far, no major disappointments.

In my opinion you really can't compare killzone to any games just yet. Since killzone is in PRE-ALPHA stage you can't compare it to halo 3 which is already past beta stage and putting the finishing touches on the game. Also you can't compare killzone to gears of war because that game is already done! I loved the new trailer, graphics looked good and gameplay looks like it makes this game. overall im very pleased and it can only get better.

who is everyone fooling, there are parts of the gameplay in the e3 2007 trailer that surpass the e3 2005 one, in the 07 one there is tons and tons more things happening than the e3 2005 one, weathering, that amazing light display in the beginning, destructible environments, infact the polygon count in that trailer may just be greater than the ones in e3 2005, and also the characters are each gigantic with massive amounts of polygons, if this game isnt comming out til 2008 march, i am assuring you the game will ditch that trailer by much, and please the game hasnt been in development all that long, not on ps3 hardware that is, remember in e3 2005 all sony had was incomplete hardware, that trailer is highly possible and surpassable on the ps3, even on the incompleted hardware, the game was in development for a long time, but that doesnt mean on the actuall game hardware, the development for killzone 2 was only for writing the story for the game and the scripts, level design, character models and so on, so even if gears and crysis do look better than killzone, they were on actual hardware, but actaully i wouldnt get to excited even if this particular trailer didnt look better than the trailer original, from the looks of the game, it looks as if they were working on physics, and extras, but saving graphics for last, because the ps3 is an endless machine of no end in its ability, in the next however many months til release if they just worked on graphics first and foremost, this game will make that trailer look like paper mario, crysis looks good, but really if your true with youself it doesnt look better that this trailer, the polygon count in the game is WAY to high, and are multiple things happening on screen at the same time, the game looks like a movie, and im sure sony has more at e3 that will look like movies also, so just give up the thought it didnt equal the trailer or games look better than it, its all a way 180 and pc fans get us rowled up, dont pay attention to it, ign, gamespot, gametrailers, gametap, gamesradar are all overly impressed with the game, and say they were wondering if it was even ingame, i have never heard that said about crysis nor have i heard it about gears so please stop with the bullsh1t people, when we see the next trailer later on this evening there will be a different train of thought, youll see

looks alright, they certanily polished the graphics after the beta, but the trailer I saw for the campaign didnt do anything for me. Im worried the story just keeps getting more dull. the first Halo was epic and the introduction of the flood was perfectly executed. Halo 2 was alright, and 3 looks pretty hashed. the brutes never struck me as interesting enemies and they are your primary foe dressed in mardi gras outfits.

the multiplayer should be decent though. but I expect much more from the finished killzone, and I do not care if halo sell's more. quality over quantity my friends.

as far as COD4 goes, it looks amazing yes, but it is not blowing KZ out of the water, I still perfer the overall look of killzone, but COD4 is just as good with the night vision and tracer's..that looks sick! I think they are well within each others leauge. if you cant admit that then you need to pull your respective console out of your tuckas!

and Crysis is in a leauge of its own, why bring that up? a high end gaming pc is gonna deliver an impressive game of course o.O

Yea, that trailer is VERY nice in deed. This sounds like my kinda game. I was very impressed even though I didn't think it matched the CGI trailer but I wasn't expecting it too. It makes RFOM look like Mario Cart. Still I really wish they would of did like a 3-4 minute gameplay video so you can actually see it in full action not with the cut-scene splices with a bit of gameplay. Hopefully we will see more of it at E3.

Here are an Xbox 360 owner's comments (don't own a PS3... yet)

I don't think I can sum up all my thoughts, or I'd be here for hours. Here are my comments in short:

To those pointing at a lack of color: That is how it is supposed to be. GG is shooting for a dark, gritty feel, and it works well. The particle effects for all the dust are quite impressive, if colorless. Same goes for the soldiers' breath, that wowed me off the bat, even though it probably wasn't that hard to include.

To those screaming "COD4 poops on this!": COD4 had so much less chaos going on it wasn't even funny. Not to mention I didn't so much notice realistic physics as I did with KZ2. KZ2 looked like war-- you have to watch yourself, because if you don't, so much is going on your likely to get hit in the crossfire anyhow. Can't really say that for what was in COD4.

Is it better than Gears of War, graphically? I say "It's about on par with it, give or take some." It's too early to tell, but Gears of War did have realtime lighting that always managed to wow me. The lighting here is not as good, IMO, but it comes very, very close.

About the lack of HUD: I do find the lack of an ammunition counter to be a bit befuddling, but IGN confirmed that the lack of crosshairs and a health meter were justifiable. You can pull up your sights to aim, which enhances the realism, in my opinion. Do you always have a crosshair in front of your eyes shooting a gun in real life? Methinks not. And I believe it was gamespot that explained your screen turns black and white as you take more damage and regain health by taking cover. I was wondering how the game could get any more black and white as it is... Maybe the ammo counter comes up with your sights?

Overall, I'm quite impressed. Even if it's not "pre-pre alpha" or what have you, it still has quite a while to improve before it comes out. What I hope is that they don't spend too much time on the graphics, because they're already there (sans perhaps better bump-mapping, textures, and a bit of anti-aliasing). Now they need to focus mostly on gameplay: More destructible environments, incredible physics, and a great control interface should do the trick.

This and MGS4 (among possible others) may make me a PS3 owner...

Being a non-biased 360 owner, I think that Bungie should go buy a bunch of toilet paper and go find a corner and cry in it, at least in regards to graphics. Not saying the H3 graphics are bad... but d@mn they're no Geow. KZ2 didn't really below me away like I wanted it too, mostly because I told EVERYONE that this game would be close to the CGI trailer. Check my previous posts. In that same breath I honestly think Gears is a stronger graphics beast. They have better detail and colors across the board...and this is in a 2nd person shooter. I have just watched the trailer after reading some comments.

While I think the game looks good it is nothing compared to the trailer that was shown in 05.

The graphics don't look special, they are very much one colour with many shades. A bit like RFOM, just not brown this time.

Pre Alpha, is kinda like, you have some things down, alot of stuff still on paper, yet to be included, There is hardly any polish to the game, that is mainly done towards the end.

I don't actually think thats how it will finall look, not by a long way.

Don't get me wrong i was impressed.

But comparison, that was a nighttime mission, whereas the original trailer wasn't, so of course, colours dumb down, darkness falls, etc.

I for one can't wait to see the actual gameplay(by that i mean, journalists being shown the actual map etc for 15mins.

I just saw the trailer Live for the 1st time on my big screen [G4]. I must say I nearly shed a tear seeing it look so good on the 65incher. I would be remissed if I didn't mention how good this game sounded as well and this wasn't even an enhanced experience on G4. The sounds of the battlefield, fires, wind, the trusty 'ol ISA rifle, the Helghast propaganda speaker (destructible) is going to be an awesome touch haha kind of like the first MOH wow. Ahh I could go on, but it's still hard to grip that it looks this good and where they've taken this cult CLASSIC. I was a sucker for the first one. Bought it on reserve and finished the single player evetually to play the MP and talk all of my friends (playing another infamous game in 2004) into doing the same thing and they can 't wait for it either. be the definitive console fps out of the next year, the gamepay from e3's trailer looks slick and realistic, when zoomed in the gun movement was fluid and and the recoil was beliveable. combine the realism with the awesome sound and graphics and then its obvious why everybody is going nuts about this game.

Halo 3 looks much better than it did in its beta build, and will sell a truckload, but most know its just more Halo 2 with a few new vehicals and weapons.

GEARS was pretty, but 4v4 multiplayer and a short campaign is unforgivable IMO, I dont get too excited a game that takes an afternoon to beat. and playing on harder difficulties dosent extend the campiagn, remember that :D

trust me play a match in Resistance, one of the 40 man bralws and thats what next gen is about, the shear amount of action going on and no lag.
though I doubt KZ will have 40 player matchs, 32 I'd be more than happy with becuase of the visual polish it has. COD4 could match it though....have to wait and see there...

back when I was playing this game with 8 vs. 8 teams in the park, at the beach, in the hills, in the core, in the slums, in the canyon, even up in the orbital station ~ I never thought that this little known, but well loved game would ever reach these proprtions. I never played the first Killzone, I need to invest time for some exsposition. This looks phenomenal to say the least. As of right now my decision stands; I will wait until Christmas. a couple of things that i noticed, if this game is supposed to be realistic why is it that if they are flying through the air at around 200mph they behave like if they are inside a room, why didnt the soldier's cap fly off? or the other soldiers shades? and then they are talking to the other team without really raising their voices, doesnt the wind make noice? little touches like that help to complete the correct "psychology" of a game and this game just ends up looking cheesy.

And i'll say it again: Gears still looks better, the only thing that looks better graphically in this game is the player's weapon. Not in design but in detail.

Have to disagree with you there. Taking everything into account, the detail, animation, atmosphere and all the action thats happening at once, Gears doesnt compare in my opinion. As for the "couple of things" that you noticed, your just nit picking there, same can be said for any other game. You cant really compare a finished game to one that still hasnt been polished anyway. And as for everyone comparing with Halo 3, I wont even start, Jesus, what a disappointment.

Having said all that, if Killzone 2 plays anything like the first, it aint worth sh!t.

Good call on the effects of the wind -- I suppose since that's not gameplay, things like that should be done to increase the realism of the game. I can see how something like that wouldn't be done in gameplay yet, but while they're in the cutscene in the ship, you're right -- that's not very realistic.

Edit: To above, yes, it is nitpicking a bit. However, if these little things were done, it would have been likely to blow even more people away. Anyhow, the rest of the trailer looked really good.

that so many people are interested in. Look at how many reactions you get when just the word killzone is mentioned. MS fans look to sony to fail, but they are not failing. People are more interested right now in what sony has to say. And if killzone is such crap, why is everyone so excited?
Why do so many gamers and game writers think this is a great trailer? A lot of the major game sites are saying the game trailer is very impressive. If you watch the extended footage trailer and the HD one, you will see those videos even add to the overall presentation. Who are you to judge? You say Gears of War looks better, i'm not sure i can agree with that. Not only that, people haven't seen enough killzone footage to make that assertion. Also, look at all the stuff happening on the screen in killzone (watch the exteneded gameplay trailer). The cell can handle so much stuff at once. Besides, Gears of war has been released for a while, and killzone is going toe-to-toe with it while still in development....impressive.

All this pre-pre-alpha talk is complete bull-sht. Who ever heard of pre-pre-alpha anyway. This kind of lingo is just covering their asses. I firmly believe this is what the finished product will look like, especially if the game is releasing next year.

To give credit where credit is due. The animations look slick. The graphics are not on par with the target, but that bar was set unrealistically high. The game lighting is darker than the render, and you cannot deny that there is a serious lack of color in this demo at least. The explosions are seriously lacking...Even lost planet wowed me more with the explosions than seen here.

As far as game play, there is nothing here that gears of war doesn't have as much as it pains me to say. Stop and Pop all the way it appears, but with out chain-saws. The only saving grace for this game will be the size of the individual levels, which will probably be expansive.

This game will not compel me to slap down the serious money for a PSIII. I am honestly more excited about halo 3 at this point simply for game play and storyline. Call me what you will, but I am simply unimpressed.

bottom line = Sony won this round. Maybe next time 360 fans. MGS4 and Killzone will keep Sony in the console leading driver's seat for the forseeable future. Everything else is icing on the cake.

...the killzone trailer looks better than I would have expected. The screenshot that they released pre-press conference was not impressive at all. Not sure why they chose that one but anyway. I don't consider myself a member of any camp in this console war but I do favor the the side on being conservative with my cash. I'm with ODINSON on one point. I don't subscribe to 'this is what is coming, buy our console'. I have a 360 (bought it shortly after launch after playing Call of Duty and PGR) Killzone looks like it might finally be a reason to buy a PS3. I'll be looking forward to seeing more of this game. MGS4 is another game I will watch. However I believe this latest MGS4 trailer looked subpar compared to the eariler ones eventho they were all realtime.
