When I think of deep strategy experiences, the word Facebook doesn't really come to mind. It's not that the two wouldn't be a great fit – patience-heavy gameplay and multiplayer experiences are hallmarks of both – it's just that we've never really seen the two combined with much success. Digital Chocolate is looking to change all that with NanoStar Siege, a surprisingly deep strategy game that's easy enough to learn and nearly impossible to stop playing.
With the release and successful sales of Goldeneye 007 on the Wii, this opens the doors for other 90s fps games to receive remakes. Gamers are already getting the return of Duke Nukem. But what about games like Jedi Knight, Red Rampage, Hexen, and Tribes? All these games could all use remakes and would look great on PS3 and 360. Nothing would be more satisfying then a remake of Jedi Knight that lets gamers slice Jar-Jar to bits in multiplayer.
SystemShock barely meets the qualifications... right?
(Although Doom3 and DeadSpace are close to footing that bill)
Oh well, atleast Deus Ex is getting a remake. Its sad how the original's depth is hardly matched by current games.
Meh, I don't mind if they get remade, but I miss the faster-paced FPSes. The one where every room was an opportunity to run in guns a-blazing followed by a treasure hunt where you search for medpacks and ammo.
Damn you regenerating health systems!
Jedi Knight is probably one of my favorite games of all time.
1. You actually had to make smart use of your force powers
-combining force speed and charged jumps to reach secret areas or solve puzzles. Compare this to modern gameplay "press A to trigger scripted event" that fails to really deliver the sense of using the force/magic/agility/power/etc
2. Smart level design.
-makes modern FPS singleplayer look like a JOKE. So much depth in simple ways, gave a sense of freedom while maintaining momentum
3. Progression
-You don't start off overpowered, and even at the end its still challenging.
4. and of course characters and story that don't completely suck.
I forgot about System Shock! Horror and fps games combined, that would be a good remake.
