1UP: Grand Theft Auto Episodes from Liberty City Review

The fact that the console-exclusivity deal for these episodes has finally run out doesn't diminish the fact that these are two quality games bundled together for forty bucks. This collection is far superior to that of the original release of Grand Theft Auto 4 itself more radio stations, better vehicle controls, and a much better checkpoint system during missions help round out the list of improvements.

And while there is absolutely nothing different content wise from the Xbox 360 version, Episodes from Liberty City is a must have for every Grand Theft Auto fan who never had a chance to play the better half of this nearly two year old game.

It seems like only yesterday the 360 fanboys were claiming TLaD/TBoGT were as big as Vice City and San Andreas. Memories...

Anyways, I've played them both on 360. They're fun, better than the original game. I dunno if they're "$40" good, but they're worth your time unless you just don't like GTA. I think the shotgun with explosive rounds in TBoGT is the best weapon in the entire series.

couple days later my 360 ate the disk.

It only seems like yesterday since when Microsoft and he 360 crowd were screaming "episodic GTA 4 DLC exclusive to the 360!!!!" at the top of their lungs. So much noise was made, they just would'nt stop with statements like, "360 version of GTA 4 is the complete experience", "PS3 owners are jealous and butt-hurt because they are'nt gettin DLC", damn they went on and on. It took nearly 1 and a half years before both episodes came to the 360 anyway. I'll never forget the way 360 fanatics reacted when the episodic content was announced for the PS3 - the sound of their comments it just felt that their jaws just dropped and eyes just popped, it was like a day of national mourning LOL!

It looks like Microsoft's $50 million was a plus for Sony after all - I'm sure Rockstar used a good part of that money to fund development costs for a PS3 version of Episodes of Liberty City and possibly Agent.

How ya like us PS3 owners now boys?!

I also remember PS3 fans screaming "GTA4 sucks", "We don't care about DLC", "Nobody plays GTA4 anymore anyways".

I'll never forget the way PS3 fanatics reacted when the DLC was announced as a 360 exclusive. They were bad-mouthing these games EVERY chance they got. Now, you guys are ecstatic that the games are available on PS3.

im about to get this game right now
since i missed GTAIV

dose this one got Multiplyer in it ??
and whats the length of both of them ??

Tony-A5128d ago

And do you see them praising it now?

Because all I see is them throwing the multiplatform-ness of this DLC in 360 fanboys faces. I have yet to see anything close to a decent amount of PS3 fanboys getting excited for it.

Simply put, it's still just GTA DLC... and GTA IV still sucks (compared to previous iterations coming from a GTA fan).

Better vehicle controls. Thank god, GTAIV vehicle controls were horrible.

Megaton5128d ago

Don't get your hopes too high on that. I've played through both, and I didn't notice any difference at all. This is the first time I've even heard anything about different vehicle controls.

ClownBelt5128d ago

Either IGN or Gamespot took note of the vehicle control.

SnuggleBandit5128d ago

ya gamespot's review talked about the only the motorcycle controls i believe

Megaton5128d ago (Edited 5128d ago )

That's funny, cause the motorcycles gave me the most trouble. Felt exactly like the first time I used them in the main game. I dunno, maybe I'll go back and compare myself. Really didn't notice any difference at all, but I wasn't exactly looking for it either.

I bought it today and I love it.

Rocket Sauce5128d ago

Better vehicle controls sounds nice, but GTA 4 sucked HARD. I want to believe this is better, but I don't think I'm gonna fall for that one again. Maybe if I can get it for 10 or 15 dollars I'll give it a try.
