Ads inside video games could work, but that all depends on the game itself. It doesn't make any sense for them to be in a Metal Gear game, regardless of it's intention because it draws you away from the game.

It would work perfectly inside games like GTA because it'll make you feel like it's part of the real world.

MGS is the kind of game that asks you to put your controller down, or talks about swapping disks. I don't think Kojima cares much about drawing you away lol.

MGS has always had a sense of humor, I think all this product placement is just another aspect of it. Ads in games like Burnout Paradise seem normal, ads in Wipeout seem annoying, ads in MGS seem funny. Nothing wrong with it this time, in my opinion.

So long as ingame advertising isn't done out of taste. I mean when the game stops pauses/stops and a big old video or picture pops up and says BUY THIS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!.

If it is a shirt or a hat that is given to the player with a choice to wear then I have no problem but I hate when I have to continue playing after a commercial or advertisement.

if i remember correctly Kojima has stated that he REALLY wants to move on from Metal Gear so he can make other games
but alas the fans and Konami wants more Snake
so he doesnt have a choice

I play games mostly to get away from the garbage of the world. Why would I want that garbage plastered all over the games that I play? Ad's for products are not going to get or influence me more to buy products, as a matter of fact it will curb any slight possible interest(even though ad's in no way interest me in any product in the first place) and will annoy me more and more. Thank You GOD that this is only a temporary thing.
