While I really love the soundtrack to the game, the EP Blood and Metal is not very good, and should be free in my opinion. I guess it's just not my kind of metal.

the God of War series soundtrack is definitely one of the best in the industry.

i don't think some folks realize how important music is to the overall experience of a game/movie, etc.

some of my favorite series music:

Castlevania series
Metal Gear Solid series
Halo series
Final Fantasy series
God of War series
Ico/Shadow of the Colossus
Silent Hill series
Chrono Trigger
Chrono Cross
Uncharted series

i don't think any of these series would have had the impact they had if the soundtracks were weak sauce.

it doesn't hurt that they are composed by some of the most talented, gifted composers in the industry (film and gaming industries, of course).

i don't think composers get enough recognition and respect for what they bring to storytelling/gaming. music is such a powerful communicative tool.

hell, mute the sound while playing Shadow of the Colossus or Silent Hill, and it's an incredibly different experience (also, and something completely unrelated, playing Silent Hill in black and white makes it feel like an old horror movie, and is pretty cool/scary).
