All I know is that this franchise kicks booty and I cannot wait for V to release.

these games just never disappoint

I spent over 8 hours culminating all the information, I hope you all enjoy the read.

My question to you guys is this:
Are you a fan of all the changes or would you prefer that the game formula was left alone and just upgraded?

Great article, you definitely dug up a lot of information. I love Civ, so much so that I've had to uninstall it on occasion as the chances of me getting a good nights sleep are very low when I've started a game.

I welcome the changes myself, they sound like great improvements from what I've read while still keeping most of the core gameplay. Can't wait for it to release tbh, although I may need to take a few days off lol.

ty :) Spent a lot of time with this one. Honestly...Civ fans all over the globe will be calling out on that day, and probably the next :P I know I am...

Awesome article! I am yet another Civ addict. Can't wait for the game! I really want to see the new combat system in action and how the battles will play out. I am sure this will not disappoint!

GUCommander5150d ago

TY :) Glad you liked it. The new combat system and moving battles away from the cities are what i'm most interested in. I can't wait to see them in action.

Other than that, better AI will be refreshing :)

While such sweeping changes certainly risk blowing the known formula, I welcome them. While I'm still a big fan, the old formula was starting to grow stale. The combat changes and hex grid hold the promise of being much more interesting than the stack-based square grid system. I imagine I won't miss the religion (it's easy if you try) or the transports.

I'm curious to see how the increased unit movement, unit spread, and larger city radii will affect the scale and speed of the maps. There is some risk that the game will become much longer than it is even now, or that they will have to keep the number of AI in a match to a small number relative to the size of the map.

I know the shame. Not this game but I have about 5 different games with humiliating time in them.

It's about 4-5 hours a day, every day since launch.

Edits: bad math initially.

How ideas of civilisation have shaped gaming

Philip Boyes:
When I was a kid, I played a lot of Civilization 2. I played a lot of strategy games in general, but having a deep love of both history and sci-fi, the epic sweep of Civ 2 from prehistory to the stars held a particular appeal. I loved taking my little people from their huts and ziggurats to the world of science and advanced space-flight.
