The Warhammer 40,000 universe has always been a mess of contradictions. It's probably the most outwardly ridiculous franchise that also demands to be taken completely seriously, pitting religious fundamentalist super-soldiers against a demonic menace and various high-tech Tolkien cast-offs. Every die-cast miniature Space Marine you painted as a teenager probably delayed the losing of your virginity by a month.

The Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War franchise is free to play this weekend and to celebrate Relic have added some new content. From September 24 10AM PDT through to September 27 1PM PDT, Dawn of War I and II, plus all expansions, are free to play on Steam.
