G4TV: Metro 2033 Review

Ultimately, how you feel about Metro 2033 will really depend on your expectations. If you're looking for a Fallout 3-style epic adventure, you'll think this is a shallow shooter. If you're looking for a Modern Warfare 2-ish adrenaline rush, you'll think this is slow. If you're looking for some Silent Hill-esque frights, you'll think this is tame. But if you're looking for something in between, you could do a lot worse. It's just difficult not to think some things could have been better in Metro 2033.

That's somewhat surprising as G4TV are one of the least critical reviewers around, mostly because of their 5 point grading system, but I entered here really expecting a 4/5, 3/5 seems harsh...

I'll say this though, people can look to reviews for guidance but don't let that sway your purchasing decisions. White Knight Chronicles got HORRIBLE reviews but it would seem they mostly ignored the online and that's truly the "meat and potatoes" of that game. I remember only one review that actually noticed and mentioned this.

Another quality title for the 360.

I can't seem to get the links for GTTV to work at the moment(last few weeks actually-my browser must hate it or summit!)but it strikes me that the multi/PC reviews have been lower than those from 360 exclusive sites. Is the PC version a little knacked or something?

Haha wow. I totally tripped out when I saw that. Great stuff.

the reviews are just as I commented on seeing pix and vid...not impressed.

have to agree with the score and i have almost finished the game on the xbox360, russian games are just weird and have the "unfinished" touch in them, just like Stalker...

But there is DLC on the way...hopefully soon. I'm on my second playthrough and I thought about trading it in, but that'll be based on what the dlc content has to offer and when. I wouldn't mind spending $10-15 on an extra 3 or more hours of the game...

Metro Video Game Series: A Comprehensive History

The Metro video game series started with a humble b-list title, before building a strong fanbase and becoming a pioneer in the industry.

Never got into Exodus, but 2033 was excellent.

kevco33117d ago

Yeah, Exodus just didn't grab me either, sadly.

I absolutely loved 2033 and Last Light, however. Played them both on 360 and then again with the remasters!

anast117d ago

I just started it and it is already miles better than the first 2 which are dated.
