A Chinese quality control organization has stated in a recent report that Hewlett Packard (HP) had manufactured and sold faulty computers, and blatantly ignored consumer protection regulations.

Glad I've never purchased an HP.

Uncle Rico5171d ago

Same. I bought a Dell instead which also has heating problems unfortunately (the XPS 1640), so im not sure what my future looks like maybe 1-2 years from now.

Bubbles_Kitty_Cat5171d ago

lol @ "Chinese quality control".

If that isn't an oxymoron, I don't know what is.

feelintheflow5171d ago

oh wait, thats just the stuff that china ships out. I forgot.

97gsx5171d ago

I used to buy only hps but after a my dv6000 spent 6 months in repair in 1 year. I switched to lenovo thinkpads more expensive but not one failure yet.

Leio5171d ago

Damn they cant even manage to get pass Chinese quality control
thats all time low :O

joydestroy5171d ago

and this is why i stay away from ALL HP/Compaq computers. Asus FTW!

HolyOrangeCows5171d ago (Edited 5171d ago )

Both me AND my sister's HP laptops broke and HP won't honor the extra year of warranty that they issued for the faulty model (Pavillion DV600; google it, it has major issues).

HP is trash and I will never buy another HP computer.
Toshiba is exponentially better.

Army_of_Darkness5171d ago

also my HP pavilon elite crashed in less than a year... so, now that compaq, HP and dell are out of the picture... anyone got suggestions for something that wont die on me in less than a year!?

PinkUni5171d ago

people saying how china doesn't make quality items when 90% of the things from the U.S. are made in china

the only computers i ever got were hps and they keep breaking every 3 years

i think im going try to star building my own, or go with another company.

feelintheflow5171d ago

Yes, and many of those Chinese products are crap. How many recalls have their been on toys from China that had lead in them? Oh and how many recalls on vitamin supplements that had all sorts of crap in them that wasn't on the label? Nuff Said.

PinkUni5171d ago

you realize that those are american companies in china right?

evrfighter5171d ago

if you're going for a laptop. Go Asus.

feelintheflow5171d ago

No actually they are privately contracted out Chinese companies. Sorry to tell you that.

ChrisW5171d ago

I bought the HP DV6000 a couple years back because HP had two laptops in the top 10 at the time... I figured they must be doing something good!

However, my graphics card went out once and the motherboard went out TWICE! Luckily I had their expensive HP Extended Warranty!

Nonetheless, the second time my motherboard went out I didn't care. It sits in the corner of my office with the RAM and HD stripped. I'll dispose of it someday.

I still like HP products, but I will never buy a laptop from them again!!!

I brought the Pavilion DV2000, it lasted around 18 months. All the problems were because of overheating. No matter what I did, laptop cooler etc, it just ran so very very hot. I didn't learn though, because I replaced it with a Compaq Presario.

Uncle Rico5171d ago

Oh gawd :( Im pretty worried about my dell now...

evilmonkey5015171d ago

This is coming from the country that puts lead in children toys and sells toxic milk. Communist.

mrv3215171d ago

lord_of_balrogs5171d ago

Starfield's new Xbox performance modes are thoughtful and comprehensive

Digital Foundry : Bethesda's Starfield was generally a well-regarded RPG, but the game's 30fps target on consoles was the subject of some controversy. The game's massive scope arguably justified that 30fps refresh rate, with only high-end PCs capable of hitting 60fps and higher, but now Bethesda has changed course and opened the floodgates on Xbox Series X consoles following significant optimisation work. Players can now independently select performance and visuals modes at arbitrary frame-rates. How exactly do these new combinations fare, and is 60fps really a possibility after it was explicitly ruled out before?

900p in performance mode for SX.... I'd assume a 5pro would at least hit 1080p if not more.

It’s a point, click and load game. Stop with all the massive scale bullshit. Only thing massive is the number of junk items they decided to throw in the game.

Was sort of interested in this but if it's true it's an easy pass

jznrpg2h ago

It’s true for sure. Avatar game had online requirement

Tacoboto1h ago

Avatar only had an online requirement to install the disc version, not to play.

This AC really does have Online Play Required marked on it.

Terry_B7h ago

as usual..Don't Buy Ubisoft Games.

Skuletor4h ago

One thing that's messed up about this, is there will be people playing pirated versions of this without that restriction, while the paying customers will suffer. Just like how some games will have lower performance on PC due to DRM, while pirated copies don't.

Anyone that wants to say something like "Who doesn't have internet access in this day and age?" There's plenty reasons people won't always have access, such as living in rural areas with spotty coverage, for example.

banger884h ago

Three single-player games in a row they've done this with now. Those f***ers weren't kidding when they said gamers need to be comfortable with not owning their games. As a physical collector, and somebody who enjoys Ubisoft's open worlds, this is a nightmare scenario for me. Absolute scumbag company.
