What Do PlayStation 3 Owners Want Most From Sony?

When playing my games I am more focused, aware of the situation, and react much better. If I want to talk to somebody I'll call them.

I have no idea how this became fan's most wanted feature.

I want:

-Universal music. At least add it to your exclusives like MAG
-Tell me when my friends sign in to the same game/cross invite
-Redo the damn interface. This is the biggest thing I want actually-- a facelift would be nice. Nothing big, but take away those gray ugly message boxes with the messy lines, make the friends list neater (perhaps add trophy leaderboards/info on the list).

I want to be able to view custom themes in-game, not just at the XMB menu when I boot my PS3 up.

And for originality points universalize VIDEO CAPTURE! I KNOW Sony can do it, games like Echochrome have it but I want it for Bad Company 2, dammit! OnLIVE is doing it, and it's a feature that would be awesome to have. Recording footage is a great way to preserve epic moments, etc.

If PSN Premium can offer things like this I would love to upgrade.

Anyways this is an awesome addition to the PS Blog, it helps Sony to connect with its own Fan base and give them an insight to what should be their next top priority along with what most features people are interested.

Yoichi Wada from Square Enix should do something like this just because they don't know where their main fanbase is at all and they still don't know how to approach the west.

Obviously Sony reads articles on the internet and I'm sure get e-mail's talking about what people want. This brings them all together in one place, makes it easier for Sony to read, and could eventually lead to the features (that do get chosen) to come out sooner based on demand.

I had XBL for 2 years and didn't use it once. I'm not sure why anyone would. Quite frankly, I find it rude when somebody wants to talk to me when they're playing a game (other than one we're in together). I've got no problem with sending quick text messages. If someone is going to take the time to message me something it means they're putting more thought into what they want to say other then "Hey, waddya doing?" because it actually takes a little effort to send someone a text.

I would never use cross game chat..

Auto-syncing trophies would be nice, although I must admit I didn't realize that they didn't auto-sync right now.

Other than that, keep making with the great games. I'm a pretty happy gamer at the moment.

Edit: Oh! Someone had a good one below. Make it easier to join friend's games. I love being able to jump directly into a friends gaming session in MW2. More of that, please!

At this point I can careless about those things. If I can ask for anything though, it would be more games like GOW3. Just finished it, and let me tell you. If you call your self a gamer then you need to play this game. This is one of those games that all fanboys should put their fanboyism aside and just all experience and be thankful for such a game. Mark my words. This game will be GOTY. Best experience I've had in my 18 years of gaming. And I know this is becoming cliche, but this game literally defines epic. With that said, I hope for more games of this scale. Simply amazing!

How about voice control via PSeye or a head set?

Imagine if you could turn off and on your ps3 by just saying ps3 on/off. Or while in settings for example say 'start game' and the ps3 auto/lly loads the game in your drive. Or while playing mag or killzone 2 online and you want to sent a msg, say 'write message'.

I know its not that useful but for me it would greatly add to the PS slogan 'It only does everything'>>> 'It only does voice control'.

On top of that I can see this feature being implemented with MOVE, imagine voice and motion control!

I would like to see sony blacklist edge and destructoid. Would be awesome to see their reaction. But above that i'd really like to see a better web browser. One with up to date flash on it so I can watch youtube in hd, one that doesn't crash my ps3 every single time I try and read an article from the Daily Mail on it. The web browser will crash my ps3 every single day. That's how it gets turned off every day, BEEP BEEP BEEP. Every day. Alot of times it happens twice a day, and more. I'm absolutely sick of it. I've stuck up for the use of having a web browser before but i've changed my tune slightly now cos its absolute crap. Alot of sites I can't sign into on it, (email, n4g). I can sign into n4g on my psp but not my ps3. The psp has a better web browser? Sort it out sony, I am absolutely sick of the ps3 crashing my ps3 every day. And sometimes the only way I can turn it off is by the switch on the back and it makes a worrying noise when I turn it off. Probably breaking my ps3 by doing that. Personally, I don't care about cross game chat. I don't play games online anyways. What I would like to see is more support of RPGs, most notably, Japanese ones. There's been a near extinction of Sony support in the west in this genre. Sure, there's been a couple of games that could be argued as RPGs, like Folklore, but it's not a REAL JRPG. Sony sponsored Demon's Souls in Asia, and it rocked, but it wasn't a traditional JRPG. The real genre that's suffering from a lack of games is the traditional JRPG. Demon's Souls is awesome, don't get me wrong, but it's not the tried and true JRPG that us fans love, albeit I loved it in the vein of King's Field. FF13 did away with pretty much every established JRPG convention and in doing so, it didn't appeal to me. Star Ocean 4 and Eternal Sonata are the 2 traditional JRPGs that really speak to me. I also loved Valkyria Chronicles, so before people jump on me, it was a strategy RPG, not a traditional JRPG.

My favourite console of all time is the original PlayStation. At any time on it, I was looking forward to at least 2 coming JRPGs. Now, that number is down to 1 within a 6 month period. Not a good sign for the genre. Too many people argue; "the genre needs to innovate". Well S-E "innovated" with FF13 and I was completely turned off. As a longtime JRPGamer, I'm hoping that Sony will bring a sequel to the epic Legend of Dragoon. Come on Sony; at least get Capcom to bring the original PS Breath of Fire games to the PS Store!

I also don't care for cross-game chat.

I am heavily interested in:

1. Improved UI functionality
- Friends lists could be improved even further

- Trophies could definitely see some vast improvements

- PSN should offer a listed view of products rather than just the icons

- PSN previous purchases needs a way to sort by game or game title for downloading rather than one long list by date of purchase

2. Improved Web integration
- Trophy lists that actually update. I don't know a friend that doesn't have an incomplete list of trophies showing online.

- Ability to send/receive messages online to friends.

- User portal functionality showing list of games owned, wanted, ratings of the games, and further capabilities.

- Ability to buy items from the PSN online and then download when you get home

- Being able to buy items from a PC Web browser

3. PSP Trophies
Make them stack with current trophies.

4. Reduced price of Duo SD cards
Want people to go digital? Don't make it cost more than it needs to. Learn from Microsoft's HDD mistake, if not your own mistakes.

5. More and better variety of games
Just keep them coming.

Fix/improve the web browser
custom music and other features should be available in-game.

Before one of the most recent updates digital movies/videos use to keep playing in the background when the xmb was brought up. This tells me that videos as dynamic themes is already possible. I wish sony would implement that.

Crossgame chat and some kind of party system I'd love. Games like Killzone 2 would benefit huge from it. Much easier to get in to games with friends and coordinate with others.

Every time I turn on my Xbox the first thing I do is join a party with some of my friends. Hell most of the new friends I make are in party chats with other friends of mine. Its a great community building feature. Be nice for Home as well.

I want to see PSN store accepting any international credit card from any contry in the world.
It is stupid that you can buy virtual console games on the Nintendo Wii with ANY, I mean ANY international CC from a contry in Asia, Africa or what ever.

There are exclusive games I would like to buy from PSN Japan or PSN Australia but it sucks if we need to get PSN cards for every contry in the world .LOL

Cross game chat and easier friend spotting and inviting cross game would perfect an already great online setup, it's just MS's Live service has these two edges, and they do make a big difference when hooking up with mates online.....especially the cross game invites and putting a game straight in and being able to join a friends game from the xmb, without having to go into the game and have to contend with each individual games screw around methods of doing so.

I don't understand what you're missing. If you get an invite from another game, all you have to do is put the game in and accept the invite. It works for every multiplayer game that has an invite system.

As a hardcore gamer all I care about is really the best gaming expirience out of my games & as a owner of all 3 consoles im happy with what all 3 consoles offer & competition is always good for us gamers as consumers but if I had to pick out of the 3 which offers the most for a hardcore gamer as myself, the ps3 has given me more then what I expected out of it and some. Its the honest truth.

If there is anything else id really love them to add it would be just more of the same goodness they have already given me from Resistance, Ratchet & Clank, Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm, Uncharted, Lair (Believe it or not but this game was mind blowing at its time) Folklore, Genji 2, MGS4, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, LBP, man I can go on & on but if there were something I wanted them to add, it would be.

I thought it wouldn't be needed and it would distract me from my game. Turns out, it doesn't and it's one of the best features XBL has to offer. Just chilling with you friends and talking about whatever the hell you want. I realize that some of you don't have many friends and that's fine. I do though and they are starting to get PS3s and they all want party chat also. I would also like to see Firefox on the PS3, I heard rumors about it and backwards compatibility. Party chat (cross-game chat) is first and far most on my most wanted features though.

There's obviously a very high demand for it, otherwise it wouldn't be the top most wanted feature.

I think Sony are going to add these top 3 most wanted features in the next FW update, top 3 being Cross-Game Voice Chat, Auto-Trophy Sync & PS2 Emulation.

Its pretty crazy that people are saying they don't care much for Cross Game chat. I guess they don't have any friends or just are anti-social. OR maybe they think that this is 1997 and think its better to have a text chat.
I for one think it would be an excellent feature to have. It won't hurt. I love playing single player games like God of War 3. But I love playing online games with my friends even more. It would make things a hell of a lot easier to coordinate and get into the same lobby or room if they had Cross-Game Chat. Or even a party chat.
One guy wrote that he considers it rude when your playing a game and have your friends (or online strangers since I doubt they have friends) to Voice chat with him. Are you an old lady? It takes 10 seconds to answer and just say I'm busy if you don't want to play.
The point it, Cross Game Chat would be an excellent addition. If your friends are playing different games, You can just send them a voice chat invite while playing your game and see if you want in on the same game. And if there are more friends to join then a party chat would be convenient as well. But I guess there a lot of anti-social gamers out there who don't want to be bothered. You know you can change your status to away if you don't like to be bothered while playing.

The only people that dont care about cross game chat are the ones who walk around Home holding hands all day with their friends, game launching together, and always together like freakin fairies. In the real world, the one I live in, all my friends play and like other different genres so it really is an inconvenience and time consuming to get up, find the phone if one of my kids or wife isn't using it, or grabing the lap top and use skype, when I could just simply press one button and talk to my friends.
