EA Sports Active 2.0 Announced And Going Multiplatform Wii/PS3

EA Sports will launch a new version of their popular fitness game this holiday for Wii, PlayStation 3, and iPhone and iPod touch platforms. The company is currently dubbing it EA Sports Active 2.0, though they point out that name is still just a working title for the game.

This new fitness game will feature an "innovative wireless control system" that includes new body motion sensors for your arms and legs, as well as a heart rate monitor. EA Sports Active 2.0 will also take advantage of a new online hub that will track and share your data.

I believe they announced it was coming to the 360 as well or at least working on it.

Maybe something has changed? Can't say I will be sad if this shovel ware casual crap misses the 360 completely. Here comes with Wii ports for the ArcChuck!!! Yay!

saint_john_paul_ii5163d ago

maybe they need more time to figure NATAL out, who know.

Other than that, i think everyone expected this to happen with the Arc. theres no point in betting that there will be shovelware on the PS3. Hopefully the Core games will outweigh it in quantity.

Greywulf5163d ago (Edited 5163d ago )

Wii & PS3 both have native motion controls. This thing will probably have some basic USB controller that EA doesn't want to pay luxuries to MS for just to use a wireless device... To an audience that buys 5 copies of casual titles like Banjo Kazooie.

Whats odd though, Why Isn't EA using Natal for this? Its supposed to change the way we all think and feel about life, entertainment, and reality(tm)?

Perhaps EA wasn't invited to the closed room Natal sessions that show it "working"?

HolyOrangeCows5163d ago (Edited 5163d ago )

Well, the controls are very similar.

I don't see the PS3 version going anywhere. Who the heck buys a PS3 to do fake exercise?

WildArmed5163d ago

Too bad it's nothing to be excited about yet.
Unless they really improve the game..
The wii version was pretty bad. (imo)

Bigpappy5163d ago

Exercise games for Natal will use the full body. The game will have to be designed specificly for Natal. Wii and PS3 games are based on the same design concept. You can not just port a wii game to Natal.

Blaze9295163d ago

Well if EA leads the way, surely prepare for a bunch of Wii ports and shovelware to launch with the "Arc"

OGharryjoysticks5163d ago

Dude, you have mastered trolling. I don't know if I've ever read a decent comment from you but somehow you still have bubbles - you da man. LOL

JackBNimble5163d ago

Because we all know that the 360 with the over hyped Natal will not be getting shovelware casual crap, right? Funny though, the only working game I have ever seen for Natal is the laggy dodge ball, but that ain't shovelware is it?

Cueil5163d ago

If anything has changed it's that they may be able to do more with Natal when it comes to something of this nature... perhaps they changed the Natal version over to another project

morganfell5163d ago (Edited 5163d ago )

People better prepare themselves for the ugly alternative. Natal's lag actually prevents it being used for certain casual sports games. It's lack of precision = frustration. It's one thing to kick a big ball but having Natal's current amount of lag prevents the proper return of a tennis volley.

Of course their is the possibility hinted above. What happens if Natal is delayed.

I agree people do not buy a PS3 for fake exercise. But, if they want a new Bluray player this makes said player more attractive.

I'm actually intrigued. With me getting fit I can't wait to try this out. I've heard that this was actually more vigorous than Wii fit.

I don't care if the 360 and PS3 start getting shovelware as long as it is 3rd party shovelware. It will expand the audience of both consoles which isn't a problem. The only reason I am upset by SHovelware on the Wii is because Nintendo isn't making their own hardcore games like MS and Sony. So as long as Sony and MS do not go the way of Nintendo I will be happy.

tunaks15163d ago

"only reason I am upset by SHovelware on the Wii is because Nintendo isn't making their own hardcore games like MS and Sony"
/facepalm
seriously?
So none of the following games are hardcorez!?
Other M? Galaxy 2? Zelda Wii? Sin and Punishment? Xenoblade?
Go back to playing Modern Warfare 2 with your noobsticks

ThaOutKast5163d ago

I am actually one of the few people who advocates the Wii and I am looking forward to all the titles you mentioned (especially SMG2) however when compared to previous generations and compared to MS and Sony they are not providing the same amount of hardcore games.

ThaOutKast5163d ago

When did I ever imply that I played MW2? I considered it to be a huge letdown and don't even own the game anymore. I didn't assume just because you enjoy the Wii that you play Wii Sports and Wii Music.

My advice. Turn off the PS3, Go outside and run/cycle/walk/swim (obviously in a pool), Comeback no earlier than one hour later, turn on PS3, Have fun.

Seriously console exercising isn't great
