It's safe to say that Ubisoft's latest DRM measures have annoyed a few PC gamers with several thousand of them adding their signatures to an online petition titled 'No to Ubisoft DRM.'
The controversy surrounds the requirement to be connected to the internet the entire time gamers wish to play their titles, among the first of which are Assassin's Creed 2 and Silent Hunter 5.
Understandably many potential customers aren't happy and after an unstable weekend which saw problems connecting to the authentication servers, who can blame them?
GF365: "Oftentimes, video games have characters who are antagonistic and really not very pleasant. Here are some of the friendliest characters in games where you might not otherwise expect to find them."
This weekend from August 10-14, players can play for free Assassin’s Creed II, Brotherhood, Revelations, Black Flag and Valhalla on Xbox, PlayStation and PC (availability dependent on platform).
GF365: "Most games are not perfect and that may be because of a character or an enemy. Here are 10 mediocre bosses in great games."
The Pursuer from Dark Spuls 2 was great, I think the author just sucks at games.
Petitions won't work... hacking will. The second the DRM is by passed is the second the DRM fails.
DRM's are obviously not the answer to piracy. There has to be a better way. I like what EA has done with the free for people who bought the game content and pay for those that don't have the code to put in.
Just stop buying their games.
Petitions just wont work lack in sales may work as soons as they see sales are effected by s**t system they might start thinking of diffrent system. Drm will never not stop piracy theres was working crack the day before it was ou. ubisoft needs sort themself before they go down the sh**ter i will not be buying a sinlge game with this. I hope to god i splinter cell has not got stupid drm i downloaded it has.
I have done a few petitions in my day, and at least half of them have worked. One of them resulting in our city getting our first skatepark. A $500,000 skatepark for a small city. Pretty good stuff.
If you don't want to try, that's your decision. But for those of us who are willing to try, good for you.
It's good to see people who don't just sit back and take what's fed to them.
