Codemasters confirms Bodycount for PS3 and Xbox 360, first screenshots

Codemasters has today confirmed the development of Bodycount, an upcoming FPS that promises to deliver "genre-defining gun play" that comes "alive in an orgy of bullets and destruction". This new IP is in production at Codemasters Guildford studio.

Designed by Creative Director Stuart Black (co-creator and designer of Black, 2006), Bodycount is being created by an all-star development team using the EGO Game Technology Platform, and is scheduled for release in Q1 of 2011.

Codemasters are the masters when it comes to racing titles, but after operation flashpoint not to sure how this would be! Pics look great though, GRID 2 anybody please please.

It looks like it's going to be set more around the action side, with a paper thin story.

If so, they need to take a look at Guerrilla Games with Killzone 2, which had a story and some of the best gameplay around.

Anyway's the screenshot's look pretty awesome. With a lot of destruction thankfully :)

I know wat you mean m8, things can be very hit or miss with Codemasters also there aftersales support ie patches can be really bad. We had to wait 9 months for the Grid 1.3 patch after it was annouced. I live in hope thou Stuart Black will see us good :)

its gona be tough to top the bar set by killzone 2 but i hope they can do it. those screen shots look terrible though.

It was massive. Massive sounds, massive explosions, massive fun. The story was an after thought but who cares when they made blowing up buildings so much fun. The battles were outrageous and if they make another FPS as fun as BLACK, then they get my vote for greatness.

codemasters...fps?...OFP2...

that's unfortunate

StanLee5185d ago

Looks like Black. Looks very last gen.

deafwing5185d ago

... if it's the UN-official Black sequel; I'll take it as long as it's done right.

Does any other company know how to mess up a non-racing game so badly? Scratch that, does any other company know how to mess up a game so badly?

Even their racing games are a bit stale - I was looking forward to FUEL, until I saw how empty and half finished it was! Pacific Rift fills the gap nicely. And for everything else: Burnout Paradise is still excellent.

siyrobbo5185d ago

FUEL wasnt an in-house codemasters game, it was only published by them

Corrwin5185d ago

Well which is it, it's either in-house, or only published by them.

But the save you from answering FUEL was developed by the 3rd party ASOBO. That still doesn't negate the fact that even Codemasters staple racing games have stagnated.

"Designed by Creative Director Stuart Black (co-creator and designer of Black, 2006), "

Thats all i needed to hear..

Black was amazing tbh

Corrwin5185d ago

I never thought that much of Black. It was great for a console FPS (especially for the era), but it was passable for a FPS in general.

Still, I enjoyed it at the time :)

AGREE...when I saw co-creator and director of the original game was behind this title I felt a lil better, plus much of the original team is there...still...that game was way ahead of its time, still holds up today. Not Codemasters biggest fan for reasons others have stated. Black influenced all FPS that came AFTER it especially Killzone2 and MW2. Some of the best level design ever for a FPS. The gulag on MW2 is a direct ripoff from that game...2011 seems so far away tho...

Codemasters and "genre-defining gun play" should never be in the same sentence
