IGN: Sonic Classic Collection Review

Sonic Classic Collection is a good, but flawed compilation for the Nintendo DS that just screams "small budget, short development cycle!" It is what it is: four great Sonic games accurately ported to a half-assed compilation.

Presentation - 3.0

Sound - 8.0
Gameplay - 7.5

Wow he really said half-assed?? These are supposed to be professional reviewers. I agree the collection is a joke as its trying to get even more money from really old games but no professional reviewer should ever use comments like half-assed.

professional reviewers != IGN

U ARE TALKING ABOUT IGN, lol
professionalism is lost in that site

You are a stick in the mud. If something was half assessed, it was. No problem with that. Should it be better articulated? Maybe, but it is pretty descriptive. Maybe you should just get over yourself.

whats new?
:D

but really, do we need to keep bringing sonic back for a collection game every gen? and its the same 3 to 4 games at that. at least Sonic Gems Collection had more verity of games on that then rehashing the same games over and over again.

Plenty here is new. For starters, this game is actually pretty good for a port on DS. The difference, here, is that its "Portable". For someone like me, I would enjoy this very much; taking these classic games on the go. If you don't want to buy another Sonic compilation, then don't buy it.

No one complains when, yet, another Call of Duty game is released with minor tweaks, so why should we complain on a collection that only gets released "once" per console generation?

I have no less than three versions of these titles already on different platforms. Sega should really start fleshing out some of the less-ported games like Sonic CD and Chaotix, now that would be nice.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Ends Run on Genesis on a High Note – Today in History

Carl Williams writes, "It is unclear what was going through the minds of the executives at Sega when they got the designs for Sonic the Hedgehog but it is clear that gamers loved him. Sonic proved that gamers were tired of slow games and they wanted speed- not just in racing games but in action games too. By the time Sega got to the third Sonic game, the whole speed and nothing but speed was getting a little thin with fans. Sega had to change things up a bit and so they did to great fanfare of fans across the world."

Two More Sega Game Gear Games Will Be Ported On The 3DS System

Sega's generosity extends a lot by giving up some of their games again and that includes the two popular retro Sonic games (by which I claimed it to be popular because of the gameplay) on which is the Sonic Blast and Sonic Labyrinth. How was that for all of the 3DS gamers?

Not too exciting. How about a sonic cd remake in 3d?

Is anyone getting bored of SONIC series?

grishamist4435d ago

As for me, I'm fine with the Sonic franchise but there's a point where I feel bored because of the similar scenario of the sonic series, run and jump gameplay.

Sonic Classic Collection - Nintendo DS Review [BrightHub.com]

While the contents are excellent choices for any Sonic aficionado, a lack of content and poor presentation values make this collection of Sonic titles fall short of expectations, even despite being a decent compilation. Sonic Classic Collection on the Nintendo DS can be summed up in two words: wasted potential.
