Scorched Angel Writes: Star Ocean: The Last Hope International Edition is a game that is a cookie cutter RPG for guys like me, to ease them back into the JRPG genre if they have been out for a while. It has a good battle system, interesting story, and a sense of wonder that will drive you to keep playing even after you say "I will play just to the next save point". If you give it a chance, you really will want to dive right into the star ocean.
Digitally Downloaded writes: "Some people (who weren't looking that hard) have claimed that the JRPG genre has been floundering this generation, lacking both in quality and quantity.
They're wrong. Though it can be argued that the genre's biggest franchises (Final Fantasy) has lost its way, a little digging beneath the surface reveals a wealth of great games that are equal to, if not better, than the best JRPGs from years past."
My favourite would be Lost Odyssey...it was the real Final Fantasy 13 game for me. Good characters, good voice acting, the music was amazing, the theme music was better, the battle system was good (can't beat turn based). I could go on...
Plus Jansen was hilarious...one of the best characters in a JRPG for me
No mention of Resonance of Fate is a fail. That game can easily go toe-to-toe with any of the games on that list. It had the combat that Final Fantasy 13 SHOULD have gotten.
Garces f, imo, should have made that list. Liked Ni no Kuni, Star Ocean and Nier. Really wished Last Odyssey came to the ps3.
PS3 Attitude: "From tiny outfits that provide no more protection than dental floss, to massive armour that even Chuck Norris would struggle to walk in, it has to be said that costumes in videogames often look pretty ridiculous. We literally could have picked a selection of games at random for this list and they’d still have been relevant, but these are the five characters we chose in the end (after we picked them at random)."
Hey,after suffering through all those "Kay's" I earned the right to see Myuria's skin!
An online retailer is currently offering substantial discounts for several high-defitnion role-playing games on the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.
Eternal Sonata (PS3) - $19.15
Eternal Sonata (Xbox 360) - $19.90
Record of Agarest War (Xbox 360) - $18.15
Star Ocean: The Last Hope International (PS3) $24.48
That's not really "substantial" as far as discounts go, especially with how old those games are.
pretty good score
Until i finish WKC/FFXIII/Heavy Rain/GoWIII.Since its a late port anyway whats a few more months right? :)might even wait til summer..depending if i get more newer releases such as 3D dot heros and Last rebellion.
Good score as expected :) although i'd pick it up regardless of its reviews.
They gave Star Ocean: the Last Hope an 8.5 but gave the International version an 8.0. Not to mention they added *poor voice acting* for the International version but not for the original version. And last but not least...*released at a bad time* as a con?! The reviewer even complained that the game is too traditional but yet they didn't mention anything traditional about the original version...
I understand that the game is a year old compared to the original version, and I could care less about the score, but it's just double standard to list so many cons in one version, the improved version at that, but yet there is nothing mentioned in the other version of the game.
Okay, so WKC is a 7 but Star Ocean is an 8? That exactly why I dont go by what other people say and just play games for myself. Zero, besides gambus, do you even have anyone on your roster that actually plays video games for fun or knows how to grade a game by merit, not just by personal taste?
BTW, when I say merit, for example, Gameinformer gave Mass Effect 2 9.5 and an extremely replayabilty score even though it doesn't even have online. Yet they said the replayability in WKC was moderate even though its pretty much an MMO with limitless online appeal. Are you kidding me? Its all science. And it seems that not only in ZTGD, but every video game media outlet, that 90% of you who write reviews are morons. Just cause you know how to put together sentences together doesn't make you a good reviewer. Especially when it comes to rpgs.
Just got ninja'd.
