Yup, Sonic Adventure coming to Xbox Live Arcade

As if the leaked screenshots hadn't already confirmed it, it does indeed appear that the still-unannounced Xbox LIVE Arcade port of Sega's Sonic Adventure is headed our way.

Destructoid reader Damon sent along word that the XBLA version of the title was recently reviewed in the latest issue of the UK magazine, 360 Gamer. According to the review, the game is a "no frills" port of the main game featured in Sonic Adventure DX, the enhanced GameCube update of the original title.

Nice. Maybe Sega would grow some balls and release Shenmue while there at it.

Ronster3165185d ago

Release Shenmue on all arcade formats.

If it sells well release Shenmue 2.

And if that creates enough buzz, then maybe its time Sega got the legendary Yu Suzuki more active again so he can complete his masterpiece and make Shenmue 3.

vhero5185d ago

Just get a PS3 and get Yakuza which is the new Shenmue if you like it and stop banging on about it. You people sound like a broken record already. As for this it was pretty much nailed on for 360 and PS3 a long time ago.

Ronster3165185d ago (Edited 5185d ago )

Reviews and critical acclaim say otherwise.

Us Shenmue fans were left in limbo.

Shenmue 2 (prior to the cave section) finished on a cliffhanger.

Imagine if there were no more Final Fantasys and the last one left you with more questions than answers?

Wizziokid5185d ago

That would be a day 1 purchase for me, id even pay 20k MS points for it, personal favourite game of all time.

vhero5185d ago

@Ronster316 it plays almost exactly the same its basically the same game with a different story/character just like with most game sequels so yeah its the new Shenmue. If Shenmue was SOOOO great then maybe it would have sold enough Dreamcasts to keep it alive but it didn't. Shenmue is not as great as most people make it out to be its a niche title and people should stop banging on about it I mean not even SEGA will chance releasing that's how NOT popular it is! However they release Yakuza so SERVED my friend how about buying a real console like the PS3 and stop being a fanboy eh?.

xskipperx825185d ago

yeah yakuza really sucks. Characters suck, story sucks.

Dance5185d ago

800P is the most i will pay for this

Elven65185d ago

I stopped reading their, have you played Shenmue? There is very little connecting the two games together asides from sandbox, game publisher, etc.

zeeshan5185d ago (Edited 5185d ago )

@xskipperx82: No but you suck!

As for Shenmue and Yakuza comparision. No sorry, that's just not right! Yakuza is a bigger game and it has a lot going and that is because it is on the current-gen hardware. They can add a lot of stuff. Shenmue is an old game and though it was great for it's time, things have changed and we have better looking games with a lot more to do and sometimes even better story. Not to say that Shenmue's story wasn't nice, hell no! Just that it's not fair comparing a last-gen game with a current-gen game that's all.

Bnet3435184d ago

This is a good start, but like others are saying, I really want to see Shenmue now on XBLA/PSN.

allready got this MOST AMAZING sonic ever game on ma wonderfull Dreamcast.. play it here & there.
is this game coming to the PSN as well? if not that sux,i would gladly purchse it and play it on my PS3 :)

BEST sonic game in my opinion and Sonic adventures 2 as well. :)

Cajun Chicken5185d ago

I've had this on PC for about 5 years...besides, I'd rather have it on PS3, the game's going to take up a HUGE amount of space on a 20GB HDD.

PirateThom5185d ago

1.4GB was the maximum size of a GC disc, 1.2GB for the Dreamcast discs.

With compression and probably not taking up that full space, it will probably not be that huge a file... especially since I had Rez, Ikaruga and Soul Calibur already.

MasterChief36245185d ago

Yeah, how big was Ikaruga again? Like... 50 MB? :P Something crazy ridiculous considering the GB size of a Dreamcast disc.

Shendow5185d ago

This site is full of bs most of the time, I don't see it happening, now if they said it was coming to Wii....Well that wouldn't be hard to believe then, plus with Sega an Sony working together on things, I see Sony getting it on the PS3 more then 360.

File size is another thing, yes they could compress it, but then the game would look more bad then it did back then, plus Sonic A. DX blow Vs the Dreamcast one, but I do see Sony maybe getting a remake of this game (Maybe like GOW was but download).

Anyways people need to shut up about Sega, because the games they been putting out have sold alot better then the ones they put on Xbox and PS2 (Alot more better then Gamecubes), besides Sega has now started to fix were they went wrong and that is better then not.

P.S. I have the my first Dreamcast copy of Sonic Adeventure working.

Welcome to N4G where people disagree but are to scare to say why.

30 Years On, Sonic The Hedgehog Should Abandon 3D Gameplay

Sonic the Hedgehog is turning 30 years old, and at this late stage in the character's life, it might be time to give up on that precious 3rd dimension.

All they need to do is keep making sonic adventure games

Duke191051d ago

I got way more fun out of Sonic Adventure 1 + 2 than I ever got from a side-scroller

phoenixwing1051d ago

I agree. Both games were fun on the dreamcast

Fntastic1051d ago

Yeah i liked SA, SA2 was really good. Heroes was kinda meh..

They need to go back to the SA2 formula and enhance that playstyle. Sonic has had plenty of great 2D games but i think SA2 proved they can make a really good 3D game, you would have thought by now they would've nailed it.

-Hermit-1051d ago (Edited 1051d ago )

Or maybe people should let Sonic evolve past 2D sprites. Stop holding the series back because you're nostalgic for the 90s.

-Foxtrot1051d ago

People want Sonic to evolve, it's just they aren't doing a good job at evolving it

Sonic Adventure was good
Sonic Adventure 2 was great
Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 was bad
Sonic and the Secret Rings was nothing special
Sonic Unleash...again not great
Sonic and the Black Knight, bland and gimmick like (I mean a sword, really)
Sonic Colours was better but not by much
Sonic Generations was pretty decent
Sonic Lost World, nothing eye catching
Sonic Forces, pretty terrible

So out of all them, only a couple were decent

Sonic Adventure just likes to be ignored by SEGA, no remakes, remasters or sequels while Sonic Generation got a sequel with Sonic Forces and they basically took everything we loved about Generations and tossed it out the window.

They are all over the place.

Teflon021051d ago

Naw Sonic Unleashed had some amazing day time stages, Sonic Generations modern sonic was fantastic. Forces problem was lazy stages that took 2 seconds to beat and barely any skill past holding square. As long as they do it right modern sonic is fantastic.
2D sonic is great and mania is too. But sonic 4 ep1 was mehh, EP 2 was good though. But I'd play day time unleashed over it every time

darthv721051d ago

I like both 2D and 3D sonic games. The original series, Generations, Mania (for 2D) and then of course Adventures, colors and Lost World (for 3D).

-Hermit-1051d ago

People overexaggerate when it comes to Sonic's 3D games. There is nothing particularly wrong with most 3D Sonic games, it's just the mere fact that they are 3D that people can't accept. Then you have sites like IGN that never liked Sonic. A lot of this goes back to their childhood of Sonic vs Mario and Sega vs Nintendo, they can't let it go, even as adults.

I was also a big fan of Lost World too. Not so much the story, but I thought the gameplay was excellent. I remember IGN and Gamespot's video reviews getting massively downvoted at the time. They were just making shit up and were just bad at the game.

This is the main problem. People don't want to like 3D Sonic, so they don't even bother trying. Personally, I find the 3D games to mostly be between good and excellent, with the odd bad or mediocre game here and there. Sonic Unleashed's day time stages are still some of most well made stages I have ever seen in a platform game.

isarai1051d ago

Or just literally steal what fans have been making, seriously there's like 4 fan made sonic games out there that play better than anything team sonic has made in years

i mean, it wasn't that great lol and has aged terribly.

I loved everything about this game......well, all but one thing, and it's not hard to guess what I am talking about XD

I used to really struggle to get all A's on Sonic's levels. I just didn't know how to beat those times, until I learned that spin dash spamming was the way to go.

Opinion: It's time for Sonic Adventure 3 and the return of Chao

"A few years ago, leading up to Sega’s latest mainline Sonic The Hedgehog title, the company was confident it wasn’t going to disappoint fans with the game that would later be announced as Sonic Forces. The company even went as far to apologize for the lack of quality control with its recent Sonic titles. Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric sits at a 32/100 on Metacritic, and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal is currently at a 47. Needless to say, they disappointed fans across the globe. Unfortunately, Sonic Forces didn’t raise the bar much higher" -- Nintendo Enthusiast

I'm shocked that Sega haven't cashed in on Chao's. There is so much they could do with them with. Sonic Adventure 1 and especially 2 had so much replayability because of Chao World. If Sega made a modern Chao World it could be brilliant. It's crazy that they ditched it just as it was getting good.

As for Sonic Adventure 3.....well, it's the Sonic game I want more than any other. The thing I worry about most is the direction the stories have taken in recent Sonic games. They are less gritty and more child friendly, I don't think that style suits Sonic and especially the Sonic Adventure series.

FallenAngel19842093d ago

Sonic ‘06 basically is Sonic Adventure 3 in all but name

StormLegend2093d ago

TBH you’re right it did continue the duo with shadow and sonic and it even brought in Silver as the third. I wished they would have taken more time with it and made better stages.

SegaGamer2092d ago

It felt more like a Sonic Adventure reboot than a direct sequel though.

StormLegend2093d ago

At this point Sega needs to wake up and realize what made the adventure titles do great. They need to go back instead of going forward. I haven’t played a good Sonic game since generations and that was only good because it was remade stages from past games.

Blu3_Berry2092d ago

I don't really have faith in 3D Sonic games anymore. It blew my mind that Sonic Forces, which was suppose to be a return to greatness similar to Sonic Generations failed to meet my expectations that was pretty standard. After that, I just lost faith in the 3D sonic games. They haven't been good in forever and I don't like that is likely to happen again. All the 3D Sonic games that released after Generations were mediocre for the most part.
