PS3 Doesn't Need Mass Effect, Mass Effect Doesn't Need PS3

PSLS writes:

"A rumor that is consistently pressed upon the gaming community is the release of the Mass Effect series on the PlayStation 3 platform. Retailer listings have appeared for a PS3 version of the game, adding fuel to the already aggressively hot rumor that the current Microsoft exclusive series would eventually make its way to PS3. When the rumors finally fizzled out, PS3 code was found in the PC version of the game re-igniting fanboy flames. It's certainly possible that Mass Effect 2 could come to PlayStation 3, but at the moment, it looks unlikely ..."

VC and DS are way better and are actual RPG lol.

Makes alotta sense to me. Mass Effect would do well on the PS3 if it came out THIS year. If EA waits until 2011, no ones gunna care anymore.

darthv725192d ago

why hasnt sev released his (or another of his team) review of mass effect 2 yet? I thought he was going to treat xboxlifestyle the same (or try to) as playstationlifestyle. The xbox side hasnt been updated since december it seems.

Anyway, on topic, just because a high profile game is not on the system you play doesnt mean you can't enjoy what is. just get over it already.

Well written article.
I agree with most of it..
Bioware is a respected dev.. And with the success ME has had on PC/360, they dont need to seek more exposure.

The PS3 on the other hand has enough great games.. though it'd be a great addition, it is not a necessary one. The ps3 has a strong lineup as it is, you can add 1 more spoon of sugar to the tea, but the tea will still be sweet

swiftshot935192d ago

But I think both can benefit from each other too. The PS3 could use Mass Effect in that, honestly, its just one of the best games this generation. Its not just another great exclusive game, its one of the best overall.

I think Mass Effect could benefit from being on PS3 in that EA would be all over it. Compare ME to ME2. ME lifetime did over 2 million. ME2 did 2 million in 1 week, because EA literally flooded the internet and TV with ads for the game. They supported it all the way through. ME could easily do over a million on PS3 with that kind of support. And thus will make the franchise all the more relevant. Its a win-win.

It would be nice to have Mass Effect on PS3. However, I'm saying it's not a necessity for PS3 owners to own. I do know what you're saying though, and I appreciate you commenting! :)

...but it would certainly be nice to have. ME1 may not be anything great, but ME2 is one of the greatest games ever made. Sure, most gamers are able to play either on 360 or, better yet, PC... but there's a significant number of people with just PS3s and no solid gaming PC that are missing out. That ain't cool.

This whole notion of slamming ME2 because it's not on the PS3... that's as fanboyish as it gets. Nearly so bad as 360 fanboys claiming it as an exclusive--but still worse.

deadreckoning6665192d ago

Ummm..Mass Effect 2 IS exclusive. Its EXCLUSIVELY on 360/PC. For Microsoft, not being on PS3 is considered an exclusive, but since every PS3 fanboy on N4G has a high end PC capable of playing Mass Effect 1 and 2 on mid-settings, I don't see why it would matter to them if Mass Effect 2 comes to the PS3 or not.

nevimkdojsem25192d ago

"... has a high end PC capable of playing Mass Effect 1 and 2 on mid-settings". It's the other way round - you only need an average PC to play ME2 on high settings. ME being exclusive to "MS" is fine for me as long as it is not exclusive to the crappy white console (=don't have to buy it in order to play ME) and as long as MS doesn't get a cent from me (PC games are royalty free).

mastiffchild5192d ago

@dead reckoning_Not being fanboyish about it but you just can't have something and call it exclusive when it IS on to platforms. Call it console exclusive but not purely "exclusive" because the word is an ultimate with no room for movement whatsoever.

As even my non gaming laptop can play ME2 at about the same rates as the 360 there's little reason for anyone with a half decent laptop/PC to miss out on what's meant to be an excellent game(I'm actually just ready to get going with it on 360 this time as I wanted to use my saved character from ME)at all. Anyway, it's console exclusive to 360 so console only gamers either miss out if they only have Wii or PS3 but most people COULD play it on their PC if they wanted-it isn't that taxing a game for your hardware at all-n matter how great a game it is.They'd also be playing it, largely at a better lick than a PS3 port would be as well.

Sure, people make a big deal when PS3 zealots go on about games like this not being exclusive and that they'll "just play them on PC" but, to me at least, it seems MS takes it more seriously than a lot of 360 gamers do and the result is the increasing number of 360/PC games going purely exclusive to the 360(Gears2,Fable2AW etc, etc). Now, I think it's fine for MS to want true 360 exclusives, games you CAN'T play ANYWHERE else but they should do it from announcement f the game and avoid tagging PC gamers along like they have(and for way too long)with Alan Wake.

I guess it's to make more reasons to get folk to buy a 360 and I suppose MS like that because it's more profitable for them.

Anyway, sorry to be pedantic about it but I don't like the way the word "exclusive" has been abused at the expense of gamers this generation(particularly with timed exclusive games parading as real exclusives then, after you buy a system for a few games you think you can only play on it, they appear on another you already may have had!)which makes me think it needs clearing up regardless of any fanboy arguments or agendas.

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

SimpleSlave38d ago

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan38d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave38d ago (Edited 38d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.

PlayStation 3 Games That Desperately Need a PS5 Remaster

The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.

Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!

Rude-ro66d ago

I played killzone 3 in 3d and it really changed the game per being immersive.
In vr, that would be even more awesome.

darthv7266d ago

Funny you mention that... my son wanted to play some PS3 games in 3d on my PS tv and he was blown away by how good KZ3 was. It really was a great addition to the game. Im surprised there have not been more 3d games from that era being ported to the PSVR/VR2.

_SilverHawk_66d ago

resistance 1-3, killzone 1-3, uncharted 1-3, uncharted golden abyss, folklore, socom 4 , motorstorm, twisted metal, MAG, heavenly sword

Cacabunga66d ago

Killzone 2+3
Sly Thieves in Time
Crack in Time
God of War Ascension
Motorstorm
Modnation racer
Infamous 1+2

Profchaos65d ago (Edited 65d ago )

Killzone trilogy in VR would be amazing bonus points if they offer shadow fall.

There was a psvr1 Killzone project that supermassive was working on at one stage which wasn't up to scratch and Sony brand it back in house I was hoping we would see that on psvr2 eventually.

Personally I'd love to see some more love or acknowledgement of psvr2 from Sony in general it was a expensive headset and Sony barely acknowledge it's existence

seanpitt2365d ago

The amount of work needed to remaster these games wouldn't be beneficial on a financial and business sense.. MGS4 would probably be the best bet as it would need the least amount of work!

Iceball200066d ago

YEAAASSSSS! I miss this franchise and wanna play it so bad again.

Father__Merrin66d ago

The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer

InUrFoxHole66d ago

The resistance series is str8 trash to me. Socom 3 I would welcome. Or killzone MP.

Marcus Fenix66d ago

A Resistance reboot will be awesome

Michiel198966d ago

That's what Bungie should make, Ill keep saying it until it happens

1Victor66d ago (Edited 66d ago )

Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱

Resistance was the best co-op fps I ever played after L4D2
